I recently thought that it would be nice to have a Wallpaper of the Week competition.

Pros.
Allows another area for people to work on.
Enables larger images to be used.

Cons.
Might take a few people away from AotW and Sotw.
Takes more time to make wallpapers.

I see a problem here. and you've listed it in your cons.

It takes longer to produce a good wallpaper than it does an Avatar or Signature. So if a gfx'er wanted to enter all three every week, it would be VERY hard work on them when all was said and done.

If this was to be given the go ahead, I'd so much rather it was a monthly thing. It would give people plenty of time to make a wallpaper without taking away entrants from Sotw/Aotw.

I think the idea is pretty good other than that. I'm all for gfx related stuffs, after all. But it depends on whether or not it could work.

While I was posting this I was thinking that it would work better as a monthly event, but I didn't know how the people who run it would have responded to it.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Though, I was thinking that it might be good to not just limit it to wallpapers, but just larger pieces of GFX instead.

personally, I think that there are a lot of people who aren't really ready to make larger GFX, either. Though, my judgement could be false. A lot has changed since Mid November, ya? :wacky:

Maybe giving this GFX competition a 2-3 month trial to see how things turn out might be a solid plan.

You have to make a poll for that. :monster: You should see how many people want this competition and it could be a monthly event if people really want a WOTM =\

Yeah, monthly would be better. People have a hard time submitting SOTWs weekly enough as it is. And as Derek stated, large pieces would be nice as well. So if enough people are interested, I don't see why we can't implement this and try it for the first time. It would certainly be a fresh competition from usual 'signatures and avatars'.

Could a poll be added so people could vote on it? Then we could see if the majority want it or if the majority is just being quite about it.

Yeah larger graphics is better. We can include stuff like splashes and such into it too.

Personally, I think putting it to vote might be a good idea. See how many people are up fer it before going ahead? Least that way we'd know if it was worth our while doing it. >.>

I was thinking exactly the same thing. The final product would be less rushed and people would be given a decent amount of time to work within.

Creating Bookcovers, Gamecovers and DVD covers (their own versions of already published books, games and movies) Competitions was something else one of my old forums implemented into their graphics section and it was really quite interesting to see what members came up with.

But for the moment I think a wallpaper competition each month would definitely be a great idea. =D It'll give members into graphics more areas to show off their creative works. =)

Yes, it would have to be monthly, I had 2 weeks for that GFX competition to do a wallpaper and it still ended up being rushed. I like the sound of gamecovers and DVD covers though, that sounds pretty much sensational. :gmonster:

I guess everyone who cares is for it. Well I am hoping to see some good entries and maybe enter a few of my own when it gets started.

Yea, sure looks like everyone who is bothered are up for it.

Well, I guess I'll talk with Mitsuki tonight and see how we're going to implement it and when. =D

Keep your eyes open!
