New FFF Banner?

Everyone has a right to criticize, sure sure, (personally I don't think Caedus stepped out of line by his suggestions), but in the end, like most of you are saying, it's up to the members.

Well, I'd suggest the matter be put up to a poll if necessary. No one should have a final say but the people who are going to view it everyday.
 
I admit I liked other banners than the one being currently used, but there was a vote, and this was the one that won. And it's only been up for 4 months, where the previous one had much more lime light and wouldn't be all that fair to the winner of this banner just to get it changed so quickly.
 
I see your point. In that case, we need to get together and decide on a definite amount of time these banners will stay up. I'm proposing that there be a set amount of months until banners are changed.
According to paragraph three, section 7, article F, "If any member of the forum wishes for a change to be made, however subtle or extreme, than that change shall undergo when the majority of the members are in agreement. Therefore, if an election of things are to go underway, the majority rules."

I call for an official vote on the matter of a time limit for Banners to stay active.

I don't like it (don't shoot me...), but if the majority voted for it, then, leave it up there a bit longer.

Yes misty. This way we can ensure that we keep the forums fair and just. Threads like this one will never occur again, if we can set guidelines for the future well being of our forum.

Yeah, it feels like this banner just went up really. It fits the skin very well. I wouldn't mind seeing maybe a new contest for a new banner at the start of every year possibly to make it so that we aren't going through banners left and right every 6 months or so. We should definitely keep it up longer than that.

Also remember, not everyone is going to agree with one set banner.

Ummm yeah okay...I really don't think you know what you're talking about. Nor do we run our forums that way. The banner stays up for awhile. If people don't like it I'm sorry but we can't please everyone. Diego worked hard to make this banner. We'll eventually have another contest or figure out a way to get rotating banners but majority chose this one and it's staying up. There's nothing wrong with it. Cae, try adjusting the colors on your monitor. Maybe that's why it looks off to you because your color settings are off? I don't know.

I don't think so. Considering how long it would take to make a new banner, and then to organise voting it would have to be something like every 6 months. Furthermore we'd have to change it every x months regardless of the quality of the banner. Continual changing will not lead to every banner being better than the previous one. I think it's unnecessary to have a time by which the banner must be changed.

And I quite like the current banner.
 
So it seems like the consensus is that were going to leave it up for a while longer and before changing it?
 
Personally, I like the banner. As many people before myself have stated it suits the colour of the forums well and being a GFX and skin artist myself (for websites etc.) It's pretty obvious that this banner, along with many others that it had a lot of hard work put into it. It's not completely easy to create something like this considering the time to think exactly what content needs to be included, positioning of pictures, text and overlay effects, textures. There are so many possibilities that an artist has to go through before being happy with their work.

I say that 2 months is too short and not enough time for the artwork to be appreciated. Especially considering all the prep that happens before the final piece is created. I know this was merely a suggestion so I'm just elaborating a bit more on that, I personally think 8 months is great or even 6 but if people want to have a set time for banners to be up then maybe there should be a vote.

I don't think it's time for a banner change, at least not yet. I'm quite happy with this one but of course there will be people who don't like it either and that's fine considering the fact that you can't please everybody.

So in conclusion, I think the banner should stay for a little while longer, unless of course more members think otherwise. :wacky:

The idea of a rotating skin.. ewck, no. UNLESS there was one for each game :3 Or they had a skin selection page..

... I just love the current one; just because someone didn't like the gradient used doesn't mean that should launch a mass discussion IMO -_-

I'm alright with the banner, but I think we can get ourselves a win win situation by having the option of picking our own theme. We had this idea on another forum I used to reside.

We would have a subforum made specially for people to donate themes. People would send the image and color theme (links, text, bg, and all that jazz) to a staff member. The staff member would open up a thread where people are able to vote on the theme. If it makes it in, then it goes up the list of theme options to choose from.

With this system,more people will get chances of having their graphic used, we can have whichever theme we prefer, and everyone will be happy x3
 
I believe a lot of people see replacing something beautiful with something else beautiful is undermining and insulting the replaced. That's just ludicrous. I didn't make this thread for people to insult and dis the opinion of each other, I made it to see if I could catalyze a contest to make a new one. Sites that have frequent users just call for such changes. In my opinion, the color scheme matching the skin intensifies the monotony level, in general. This grayish navy blue looks cool as is, but it's been here forever and making a banner that matches it kinda gilds the lily, in my opinion.
 
The problem is that it is already quite hard to make a banner that blends smoothly with the current forum skin. The crappy colour scheme of the skin is already quite limitating when it comes to the color selection for the banners so...>_>

But if people want a new one, well then let's host new Banner Contest.
 
I think the banner should be left for a little longer. The previous banner was up for almost a year and this one has only been up for a few months. I don't think a new banner competition is necessary at this point. Just because a few people want the banner changed, it doesn't mean it should be changed.
