So we have the most emotional Final Fantasy moments thread. Now lets talk about the most emotional moments from any video game.

For me, it's gotta be the end of Secret of Mana. Nothing compares to how cruel that was. Sure you've got Aerith's death in FFVII and Tidus disappearing at the end of X. But Secret of Mana still wins for saddest video game moment for me.

Through out the entire game, the girl is searching for her long lost lover Dyluck. She finally finds out that he's being possessed by the evil what'shisname. So she keeps running into him through out the game until she has one final encounter with him. By then he is to weak to fight off the evil guy's magic but he manages to speak to her one last time and tells her about the enemy and that there is not hope left for him and that she must defeat him. The even more cruel part is that the girl has the light magic which is what the enemy is weak against so you have to use her to defeat him. Then at the end Sprite disappears :(

The music especially gets me at this part. :(

In Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction when
Ratchet loses Clank and thinks he will never see him again and also regrets not listening and then Clank suddenly appears then it gets it all emotional and just as they about to hug each other Talwyn appears so they punch each others fist to save themselves from embarrassment
.

Sadness, happiness and humour in the space of a minute. A perfect game. ^_^

Baten Kaitos, at the end when Xelha died, I was absolutely gutted. Poor Kalas, he was heartbroken! And it just felt awful, they built it up for so long that those two would get together and have a happy ending...and then she dies.

they ruined that by brining her back to life 3 minutes later though, but it was a sad three minutes

I guess it's sorta sad when Zelos dies on Tales of Symphonia...IF you choose to follow the path that leads to his death. It is possible to keep him around for the duration of the game, but at the expense of having Kratos in your party.

Since Kratos is kickass, I always kill off Zelos.

Mod Edit: Let's use spoiler tags please.

Let's remember to use spoiler tags, guys.

I haven't really felt any emotional moments in any other games than Final Fantasy.

But I guess the closest I can come up with is Lunar 2,
when Lucia had to return to her own world, leaving Hiro behind. There was a few minutes of "Aww" from me, (especially when the party said their goodbyes) but in the end, they were able to be together anyway due to Hiro wanting to be with her, even if it means going to her own world. (I think that's what happened...)

For me currently the scene in heavenly sword
where Roach loses to Nariko and then Bohan call him an 'utter failure, useless etc' and even throughout their battle Bohan is calling him 'a complete waste of air' among other things. And although I couldn't stand Roach, seeing him crying there made me feel kinda sorry for him. Despite all this ridicule though, at the ending point of the game he still rushes to help Bohan when he has his eyes pecked out by the raven.

Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne - The Alternate Ending

There is light in a dark tunnel after all…

It was bad enough that Payne had to suffer the loss of his wife, baby daughter and close friend, losing his second love would simply take the piss. Undoubtedly, past ghosts have been laid to rest, but for all the crap that he's been through, I think he deserved better. It definitely felt gratifying seeing them embrace each other after the storm.

Probably Luke and his emo shit from Tales of the Abyss. You hear so much of it 'til
you get to the Tower of Rem and he says that he's going to sacrifice his life to neutralize the miasma because he believes his life isn't worth as much as his Original's life.

It was absolutely infuriating. I just wanted to rip all the hair out of his head and beat him with a Bat until he stopped being a faggot. It was so infuriating because it was so insulting to all the other characters in the game,
basically telling them that he wasn't important enough to exist just because he's a clone, regardless of the memories he's made while being confined to his manor and the ones he's made so far on their journey.

Honestly, it actually got to the point it made me sad just playing the game. Plus the soundtrack was a real heartstringer, so it added onto the tone of his emo scenes that all led up to the Tower of Rem. D'=

Mod Edit: Spoiler tags, yo.

Believe it or not, it was in Final Fantasy X-2 when Yuna is seeing fragments of the past as she follows a moogle around Luca. She remembers her moments with Tidus... When he taught her to whistle, when they laughed... All those special moments. Made me feel her loneliness.

I think that actually is it. >_< Erm...

It isn't my responsibility to shield other viewers from potential spoilers. If you're viewing this thread, you do so at your own risk.

So! Here's another....and I'll keep it somewhat vague...

Fon Master Ion's fate in Tales of the Abyss was a tad emotional, though I was personally pleased with the outcome.

And in response to L's last post, I preferred Luke's character prior to his personality change. He turned into a passive wuss...

I watched one today...the emotional part starts at 1'27 when the dramatic music kicks in but I always get a shiver down my spine between 2'06 - 2'32.

i am torn between two different parts in the FF series that i find are both very emotional.
the first is when Cloud lies Aeris to rest in the lake, the whole thing were he walks out into the lake carrying her and then he places her gently into the water , it's sooo sweet.

And the second is the final cutscene in FFX when Yuna doesn't want to let tidus go but he is fading away and he walks up behind her and hugs her the first time i completed FFX was a very emotional time for me.

The final battle and surronding cutscenes of Metal Gear Solid 3 would have to take it for me. They ending of Kingdom Hearts was up there, too. As was the ending of .hack//g.u

In MGS, when
Snake kills Sniper Wolf and Otacon comes to hear her last words to both of them.
I love that part with the camera angles and the music; the same for the
death of 'The Boss' on MGS3 and when you realize that she's still loyal to her country and die for it

It was one of my favorites!

The end of the Chernobyl mission in COD 4.

Nothing compares to the joy of finally defeating that god forsaken mission and managing to get Capt Macmillan onto the Sea Knight.

MGS:
The fight towards the end when Gray Fox gets mashed to a bloody pulp by REX when he destroys the radome for you..

MGS2:
During the Strut H (Oil thing whatever) when Emma has to cross on some long planks or something and Vamp shoots out of the water and stabs Emma. Only until you arrive at the computer room watching her die and have her last words and the whole place flooding in... Geez it was so emotional. Even the damn parrot made everything worse.

MGS3:
The Sorrow's River made me think to all the torture I did to the soldiers.

P3:
During New Year's Eve when Ryoji tells you Nyx will be coming and there's no stopping it. Everyone goes emo for a few days and realize they will fight till the end. The end sequences when Nyx finally comes and Minato receives "The World" card and decides "A New Beginning" instead of "The Ultimate End" Thus, sacrificing his soul to become the barrier between Nyx and the world. (That was such a powerful moment) Instead of dying there, he kept a special promise with everyone which made him live for a few more months until the promise was fufilled. ...and soon fell asleep on Aigis' lap.

Killer7
Garcian became aware of his true identity of Emir Parkreiner. Not really emotional but.. meh.

I was pretty bummed when
Asch bit the dust in Tales of the Abyss
. He's a pretty badass character.

First
he gets beat by that douche Luke, then he gets cut down by some crummy soldiers. Only had a few left to deal with, too.
Lame...

For me, it was at the end of FF10
when Tidus disappeared. It was worse because we had known it was going to happen ever since the vision on top of Mount Gagazet, but still. When it happened, it was intense.
