Metal Gear Solid Thread

I don't know why you guys are obsessed about MGS, like I played MGS3 but the camera was stupid, aiming wasn't good enough, but I still don't like the camera in it maybe I'll give it a try if you can change the camera view

The camera problem was fixed in Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. You can move it much more freely in that compared to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. I suggest you try out Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence and then give your opinion as I am willing to bet that it will change considrerably.

the camera system in Subsistance is exactly the same in MGS4, it makes the battlefield much easier to observe.

I love the MGS series. ^_^ The second game is my favorite I dont know why though. :| Sadly,I cant get MGS4 dont have a ps3 and cant afford one. T_T But my brother is getting MGS4 but he wont let me try it. =/ But I do know MGS4 will be the game of 2008.Does anyone still have the first one?I do and I still play it. :)

One of the best parts of MGS is the storyline. In my opinion, it's better and much deeper than any FF storyline. That's why we play MGS. The other reason is the gameplay itself. Every MGS has bits and bobs for you to do even if it isn;t part of the story.

I've played all the MGS games (with the exception of MGS4...I'll have to give that a whirl), and the best of 'em is easily the original. I still love replaying that stinker. The Psycho Mantis boss fight is one of the best I've played.

I just went through and beat MGS4 for the second time. I just have to say...simply amazing. Greatest...game...ever...:'( <---this smiley doesn't cry enough for what I'm aiming at.

i saw a preview of the new MGS4 for PS3 and it looks absolutely amazing, i wanted to buy it but then i saw the 44 pound price tag i was like "hell no am i payin that much"

Wow, that's unfortunate, 'tis a shame Sony must run such a monopoly with their big, best selling games, like games don't cost enough already, without charging more because it's one of the better games. >_>

More? It cost just as much as any other video game. The special edition cost a lil more, but thats cause its special edition and you get MANY more things with it, extra DVD, book, action figure, Solid Snake Bandana.

Either way, I don't care of the price, in the end I've ended up paying over $8000 JUST for this game...yes I said $8000, didn't add an extra 0. Bought a $7000 T.V, ps3, and all the works for that just for this game. And it was weeeeeelllll worth it. Greatest thing I've ever witnessed.

Okay, failed to notice that the higher priced MGS4 is specifically for a special edition of it...

But still, don't expect the price to go down in any hurry, heck Super Smash Bros. Melee is still a full priced game (even with Brawl out), because it sells so well.

With games like this, its expected to remain at the same price for over a year...two maybe.

Yeah, and you can bet it'll be the same way with Final Fantasy XIII.

But I don't bother with waiting a long time for the price of a game to drop, if I really want it, I just get it as soon as I can anyways.

Yeah, FF should be just the same.
Thing with MGS, is I half expected it to cost a lot more then it did. Cause the game took up all of the 50gigs on the blue ray...I mean where else can you get a deal like that. GTAIV was what, 18...19 gigs? (I'm guessing, I might be giving it more credit then its worth it might be smaller). Either way, MGS4 is by far and away, bigger then the second largest platform game out there...by more then 50%. Thats an amazing feat.

That is good. Can't wait to play MGS4, I've been a fan of the MGS games for years, it'll be good to get a new one, it might feel odd controlling an old man, though. :P

I'd recommend this to anybody, even somebody that hasn't touched a MGS game.
I am man enough to admit that I've never cried that much in my entire life.

The game induces crying? I doubt it'll affect me that much, but it's good to hear the game packs a punch.

Someone told me there's a cinematic in the game that lasts nearly an hour and a half. That isn't true, is it? I'm not sure if I feel like sitting through a movie. I'd rather just play.

I'm not sure how long they are. There were many lies before the game came out saying there were many scenes that were an hour and a half, but it was indeed a lie. The last few scenes though...I dunno, I really didn't time em. But that could be if...well I won't spoil it by continuing. But the ending can be that long in a way.

And yes...crying. I cried and gave myself a HUGE headache from it. I'm not much of one to cry...but then again you have to imagine that MGS has been around since I was born. First game I ever played and Solid Snake had grown up as my hero figure. So...it was emotional all around. Hell, I got emotion throughout the game on constant bases...even from just LOOKING at Sunny at some points in the game got me misty eyed. But thats just from thoughts of MGS2 and piecing things together that they don't mention. The game is great at making you use your imagination.

Oh, good. I'm glad the scenes are broken up.

Seeing as it's the final game in the series, I was half expecting a tear-jerker at the end. I'm prepared for the worst in regard to Snake. MGS storylines are always pretty awesome.

How's the gameplay? Probably a bit different from Snake Eater...

Also, another great thing is, you can pause the cinematic at any time.

The gameplay is utterly amazing. The camera angle was done perfectly. One problem is you have to get used to the controls though. I mean, I'm on my third play through and from time to time I still mess up when I'm trying to stand up from a crouch I keep laying back down. Other then that, its perfect. You have open roam and can choose from what seems like an unlimited amount of paths.
As I said, this is my third time through and with each time I haven't walked down the any of the roads I walked down the first time. You can go anywhere, you can choose to ignore fighting or even rack up over 1000 kills within the first 15% of the game alone.
CQC is excellent, a very wide array of moves this time through.
Its also fun to customize weapons...and there are TONS of weapons, I think over 100.
And the boss fights...revolutionary...

I'm pissed though cause this time through I was trying to get no kills. I'm about 90% through and I just killed one guy on accident...so much for that.
