Metal Gear Solid Thread

Part 4 of the Metal Gear Retrospective is out now.

It actually taught me something I didn't know. Apparently there's a pretty badass dream sequence Snake has after he passes out from being tortured by Volgin. I intend to play it this time around :neomon:
 
My goodness lol, that sequence is crazy. I accidentally went through it on first play through, and thought I had the wrong game in. Its brutally crazy, but there really isn't much to do other then the killing.

If there is more you'd like to learn about the game there is a MGS website that I used to run you can check out. Not sure how advertisement is looked on here so I won't post the link here. But its a pretty nice site. It seems like after I left they've changed boards recently but all the old info is still there. They even have a MGS FAQ there for each game that gives you detailed information, even on the VERY slightest things like DNA info and such. Great site to check out. Much more info, even more then the MGS official site gives lol. Funny to see the fans correct the creator.

I missed out quite a lot from my first play through, including the Sneaking camo. D;
 
I got the impression that you actually need to turn the game off once you save after Volgin beats you up. Guess that's why I never got to play the dream sequence, I just save and keep going xD
 
Aye, I missed it on my first go, then played it on every other playthroughs. You tend to miss it because that's one of the best parts of the game; people don't tend to turn their consoles off at a climatic scene.

Did you men the 'Nightmare' mode?? I was so shocked when i got that mode! I never know that the mode ever exist! It reminds me a lot of DMC gameplay, or Nanobreaker.

And yes, what you need is to save the game at any point when Snake is waking up (if i can remember well, there're 2 points like that on the game); then, on the Main menu, keep loading the game until the mode appears.
 
Anybody gonna upload their own music into MGS4? Not sure if you know this but the game has an "Ipod" function where you can implant your own music. I've always been a fan of the MGS music so I think I'm gonna play it first time through with the original. Then plug in some other music second time through, like the music from MGS1. Since they no longer have the rights to it they couldn't use it themselves. But I love the song Enclosure.
 
Hmmm, I might use the option of my own music during my 2nd/3rd play through, I just love the OST at the moment and it would be nice to fit music to footage. But cheers for telling us anyway. :)

The new trailer (well new-ish) looks awesome, the story looks amazing and the word 'epic' can be the only used for the voice acting. It gave me shivers when Naomi (I think) says: "Your body is approaching its limit" and then Old Snake turns her around and says "How long do I have?" and she's crying...truly a spine chilling moment for me :O

I was thinking the same; with themes like Old Snake on the game, i don't think i would need my own music this time.

But it would be awesome, to play it a second time hearing the "Best is Yet Come" and "Way to Fall" while hiding or in a cutscene ;)
 
WARNING: Do not look at Gamefaq at all...there is a guy blabbering out game spoilers. I am soooooo freaking p!ssed that I've caught the spoilers. Although I will of course play it being a lifelong MGS fan...I can't help but feel it has been ruined for me greatly...

I'm not too bothered about spoilers, but it sucks if someone deliberately tells you the ending to something when they know you don't want to know. That pisses me off. Accidently finding out as you did is no problem to me.
 
Its like that all over, even the newest review on IGN there is a HUGE spoiler...and I didn't know anything about Sigint and MGS4...:( until now I guess.

Jajaja, maybe this is why Konami put those restrictions to the reviewers about avoid as much spoilers as they can.

And yeah, I was really excited that Kojima has put those restrictions up. Is why I felt it was safe to view the major sites like IGN and gamefaqs...but I guess no matter what somebody will try to ruin it for others. Tis a shame :(

I just saw a massive wallpaper full of spoilers on /wg/...huge loads of brix were shat. I won't say anything else, but you guys who were guessing that EVA is the mother of Big Boss's sons were right.

If any of you can't wait any more, here you go. My jaw actually dropped at one thing in particular. If you click and bitch, it's your fault.
 
:P I think I'm the only person that thought Eva was, I've thought that for years and everybody always called me crazy....saying it was to 'obvious'. But thats the great thing about MGS, they always throw something obvious out there so while you have your attention on that thinking its supposed to be the big 'surprise' they hit you with something else right after that you couldn't have possibly guessed.
 
Yarly, I wouldn't have expected them to go with something so obvious...but it's satisfying and makes sense.

Major brix were shat about Major Zero and Para-Medic :neomon:
 
I had to refrain myself from clicking that link :wacky:

I preordered MGS4 today at Game when I was downtown and it came with a free Limited Edition MGS4 gift card (not that I will ever use it) and a MGS DVD which explains the storyline from pretty much the beginning...not in any great detail but enough to catch up with the story...along with this MGS4 trailers on the DVD. :gasp:
 
Can we stop posting spoilers now, please?

I wish to postpone finding all this shit out for as long as I can, kthx. :gasp:
