The longest i've played was the first time i defeated Omega Weapon in FFVIII ,2 and a half hours.
Then the next time i defeated it in 15 minutes.

So the longest might be Hell Wyrm in FFXII.

If Yiazmat counts as a boss, I would say him.

It takes hours apparently to finish him off and he can replenish his HP with Renew.

Agreeing with .Swift and saying Yiazmat - he has, like, fifty million health. It takes a horrendously long time to whittle it down. You can leave the battle any time you like, but that doesn't stop him from having a crapload of health when you go back.

Dark Yojimbo in FFX is quite long as well, purely because of the number of times you have to fight him to get him to bugger off...

The Emperor from FFII (final battle). I didn't use the blood Sword and obviously I was so underleveled. I beat him in 30 minutes or so. Once I equip the Blood Sword, it takes less than a minute to beat him (usually).

The longest one for me was Kefka in VI, though I don't think it was anymore than 15 or 20 minutes if that. That's for final bosses, though--I haven't yet attempted to fight the Hell Wyrm in XII, but I've heard that if you set up the right gambits you can literally walk away from the game for hours and then come back to it and it'll still be going. That's almost too long though, IMO, if they want to make it realistic--I'd think the characters (boss or party) would either get tired or have to pee at some point within that time frame :hmmm:

BTW Calzum, I like Oreos :D

Definately Yizmat. Ends up being a 3-5 hour fight on average. Although i have heard of a few people beating him in about an hour.

Is Yiazmat from FFXII? I have yet to bother fiinishing that game because of how dull it was, but I'm sure I will someday. I'll look forward to that fight if that's where he's from.
Otherwise, I think the longest fights I've had would be the first time fighting Jumbo Cactaur in FFVIII and the very last battle in FFX fighting Yu Yevon, I'm not sure exactly how long that took but it felt like forever before that thing would die.

Yea he's from FF12. The game isn't DULL !! >_< But i guess it just has to do with opinion. If you found the game dull, i suggest that you dont take on Yiazmat, you wont make it.

Well, in my case, it is indeed Yiazmat. It took me four hours to beat him. He's followed by Omega Weapon (FFVIII), Emerald and Ruby Weapon (FFVII) at roughly 50 minutes. I know all of these superbosses can be beaten in much less than this, but it would require a lot of grinding and farming so I went for the simplest tried-and-true methods. When I replay any of these games, I might give try other strategies.

Hmmm, well ExDeath from FFV took me a really long time for some reason. As did CoD from FFIII. The longest though is probably Ultimicia for me -- sooo many forms, and her ability to blow away magic can lengthen the fight considerably...especially if she picks Aura.

I usually don't bother to fight those optional bosses with millions of HP (every idiot can use some tactic that can be found on the Internet and use it for several hours and win) so the longest fight I had was also the Ultimecia fight in FFVIII. It was my first time playing FFVIII (and my first time playing a FF at all) and I wasn't very good at it, so I was constantly reviving and bashing until every form was dead. It took me a big part of a free afternoon, so I guess 2-3 hours. On my last playthrough I butchered her in a few minutes, I guess experience really comes with years :p

Yiazmat, Dark Yojimbo, and Penance. All three are ridiculously long and/or overpowered. Fighting Dark Yojimbo 5 times is just plain wrong. -__- And as for Yiazmat, I'm yet to kill it. I just chip off another bar or so when I'm in the mood.

Someday I'll get there.

I think it's just me, but I say all battles with Seymour are long and irritating. It feels like I whenever I fight him I have to do too much work before i'll be able to defeat him. But I guess that's all boss fights.

The battles against Donga and Unei in FFIII were long for me too. The fact that you had to face them one after another made it long enough for me.

For me, it was the last set of battles in FFVIII. Why? Because back when I played the game, I did not know how to customize or make new weapons... so I went through the entire game with everyone's starting weapons. It also didn't help that I was severly underleveled. I ended up only have Selphie and Rinoa left for the final battle, with Rinoa finishing it up. It was crazy.

Definitely Yiazmat. 50 million HP is a long way to go, especially if you don't have a vacation.
I ended up killing him on a 28-hour fighting spree.

Hell Wyrm in XII so far, I think that took me like an hour and a half/45 mionutes there about... Ive not done Yizzy or Omega mkXII yet, so I guess he will bump down a place or 2 if I ever get round to it. It's not even that it was hard really, it was just time consuming, thoguh I did have a few hairy moments..

I very rarely fight optional bosses, such as Yiazmat. So I'll go by storyline bosses.

I'm pretty sure the longest battle I've fought would be Ultimecia from FFVIII. Main reason being that you've got to make sure that you heal whenever possible, because next thing you know she's casting Apocalypse, and you're left with 1 HP.

Ha that's exactly like me. On one of my saves Yiazmat has about 5 million hp left, but everytime I go in he goes mental and wipes out my party, despite me super prepping my party. I can barely recover before I have to sulk off and lick my wounds.

So if it's an ongoing battle does that count?

Think the first time I tried Ultimecia it took an age, and then I thought my disc had stuck when I finished it because of the
memory loss squall goes through and repeatedly seeing Rinoa's face etc
,then it did actually stuck, so maybe that's why it seems longer?

But still she was he longest storyline boss I think.

Non-storyline boss, I'd say Emerald, took less time than Omega in VIII (stupid knights of the round taking forever!)
