Lightning: Cloud or Squall?

I know she is supposed to be female version of Cloud and all, but somehow I find her more similar to Squall then to Cloud.

First, the weapon. Obviously Squall.

Second, the hair. Not exactly similar to either Squall or Cloud, BUT IMO more similar to Squall's because of the color.


What do you think? Squall or Cloud?

IMO, if someone is similar to Cloud in the FFXIII games, then it is Noctis.

I think she has some of both of them in her. Well, something physical from Squall anyway (Gunblade) I cant really say for sure yet. It would be nice though, as that could be nostalgic for series veterans

I only meant the way she looks and fights. I don't really know her personality.
Though, from what I have seen so far she really seems to different from both of them

I think part of the reason people say she is a female Cloud is because her look is pretty similar, at least in the face.

It's also probably to do with the type of game as well with her probably taking down a corrupt government, just like Cloud and AVALANCHE were set to do in FF7.

Weapons wise I have to agree it's more towards Squall, for general appearance the face is definitely more towards Cloud though I suppose that can't really be helped considering she's meant to be that way, as Nomura was requested to make her look like female version of Cloud.

If we're talkin' looks here, then Lightning definately leans more towards Cloud. As for personality, she seems more Squall-ish, but it's hard to judge just from trailers. She is supposed to be a female version of Cloud, but with a few differences of course.

I would say Cloud but she seems to have a bit odf Squall's jerkass qualities but seriously, I need to see more of Lightning before I make my final judgement in this.

She definitely looks like Cloud, there's certainly no mistaking that. Her weapon, a gunblade, is of course like Squall's, and from what I've gathered about her through trailers alone she does seem to have some of Squall's personality. Though as others are saying, it's really too early to tell really. I don't think we're really going to know if she's like Squall or Cloud until we get to play the game. I for one, don't want her to be like either of them tbh. I'd like to see her have a personality of her own and not just be a female imitation of either Squall or Cloud. I'd like to see a whole new character.

I think she looks more like Cloud but from what I've seen acts a bit more like Squall.

Though as Rinoa said, I would prefer that she didn't really resemble any other character in any way.

It makes her more interesting and it would be a bit of a downer if we paid good money for a game only to find out that the main character is simply a girl version of previous guys from the earlier Final Fantasy's. =/

Apart from that and the Gunblade, any other similarity made at this point is speculation. There's no point in "looking" for the similarities.

lightning is female cloud, looks-wise. sure she has gunblades, but they're vastly different from the original (squall's), being able to transform and all.

I'm rather curious at what a female Squall would be like as opposed to a female Cloud personally...But since Paine from FFX-2 is supposed to be based off of Squall (according to wiki anyways) I guess that quota has already been met

Design wise, it's inevitable, and that's just taking the high grade graphics of Cloud and Lightening into account (as seen by the lulzy animation xD)

I'd like to think that Lightening retains some of Squall's traits anyways: he was all about the mission in the beginning as she appears to be, while Cloud first came off as sort of doing things for himself, in the beginning anyways.

She looks like Cloud, acts like Squall, and will probably be different in the game

Lmao that's priceless. C; I love Cloud still. But Lightning has a wayy bigger upper lip, though. And a longer point to her nose. Her nostrils are a bit wider too.

To me they share some aspects but I honestly don't see them as the same but with different colors. Sorry, I don't care if anyone disagrees or says I'm in denial.

Hehe well Lightning would have a bigger upper lip and slimmer nose because she's female. She's basically a female version of Cloud, the writers have already confirmed this. I'm sorry hun. Unfortunately that's just the way they wanted her. Their similiarties in looks are more in their facial shape, eyes and then the way the side of Lightning's hair sort of spikes out. It's definitely the eyes though, IMO. No doubt about it.

I would say Cloud, but she carries elements of Squall as well. Its way too early though to figure out who her personality is based on. I am hoping they have done more than just made her a female Cloud. She's the first female protagonist in the series who is the main character of a game since Terra from FF VI.

I'm hoping they do more with her personality than make her a female copy of Cloud or other heroes.

Well I really don't see how she looks like Squall...at all and Cloud she has his same eyes I think and maybe the nose and chin, other than that, I don't really think she looks like him, more like she could be his kid
