Is it just me or does anyone else wish there was more to the Board? I know that I would have liked if we could find "pieces" of the board to add on to expand the grid. I just felt like it was too small and there was so much room for much more.

Anyone else wish there was more? What would you have liked to see?

The board was boring and easy to fill for me. All the characters would eventually learn all the same moves and be able to use all the same weapons which was a little boring, I understand it was like that with X and the Sphere grid but the sphere grid was way more complicated and took way longer to get everyone learning everything so it felt different.

I wish each character had their own class and separate lisense board to go with it. That would have been more fun to me.

The License Board was incredibly simple, which I didn't mind at the time - I used to find the Sphere Grid in X confusing and FFXII eased me into its type of levelling system.

As a more experienced gamer, I would like to see a revamped version which has two or three difficulty settings. The Board used in the game should be perfectly fine as 'Easy' mode; they should then add a 'Medium' difficulty setting and a 'Hard' setting, each with their own board. The greater the difficulty, the more complex the pathways, and the greater the sacrifice you make if you choose one block over another. For example, the License Board with the greatest difficulty should consist of meandering paths which lead in opposite directions, developing different skills. The player would have to choose how to develop each character early on in the game in order to reach the most effective end result. Choosing to follow a different path later would come with a penalty as they would have to spend points retracing their steps, in a similar but more costly way to the Sphere Grid.

That would be a pretty cool way to upgrade the License board BUT they would definatly have to up the LP drop of monters because otherwise that would literally take CENTURIES.

That sounds like an amazing idea. Wish we could integrate that :\

In my mind the only real problem with the license board was uniformity. Sure it could have been a bit larger, but most of the things on the board aren't an end to themselves; after getting the license, you still have to go out and buy something to be able to make use of the license, which makes the board's size not seem like a big issue to me. But the fact that everyone starts off at the same place and has access to the same things from there on out was just a weird development choice. In FFX, while everyone was on the same grid, they started off at different places and as such ended up unlocking access to new places other characters couldn't, too, which made it feel like everyone was on their own separate grid and it was mostly just a novelty that everyone crossed paths.

I would have appreciated it if the same could be said of XII. As it is, I have to put significant effort into making anyone different from anyone else, and avoiding making them different in weird ways (it could easily happen that out of sheer convenience that Penelo ends up with an axe and heavy armor and Basch a dagger and white magic). If some player didn't voluntarily do the same, they could get through the game as well as anyone else, sure, but the potential oddities that can come of it kind of stain the experience. All the characters fall in line with established Final Fantasy jobs story-wise; why not make the board reflect that by everyone having one unique to their character?

When I first saw the license board, I was like :srsly:

but then I started playing and realized it was just another Crystarium/Dumbed down sphere grid. I really didn't like how everyone could eventually learn everything really easily, and I kind of wish there were more health licenses on the board. I wanted my party to be a little more diverse, but it came to the point where everyone knew almost everything on the grid, but only really took advantage of 10% of the things they got off of it, besides the power-up and bonus licenses, of course. Those were the best.

I loved the License Board. I thought it was a great addition to the game. I had plenty of fun grinding for LP, and filling out everybody's boards. Yeah, I would have liked it to be much bigger than it was, but Meh. I still enjoyed it. It was pretty disappointing once I finished the thing. It felt like the whole game ended. I was like "now what do I do?" XD

I didn't mind it at first. I was cool going through the game the first time and seeing your characters' progress and expand their capabilities. However, I did fill it up very fast and then there was nothing else to do with my characters except to just get them to Level 99 as fast or high as I could to deal with Omega Mark XII and Yiazmat. I don't think I've ever fully maxxed out characters before, but I came close in FFXII.

The only things I didn't like about the Licence Board was it being too short and in the end didn't exactly leave the characters with any distinct individuality battle-wise. I think they should of had different boards for different characters according to a Class (much in the same way as the Sphere Grid in FF X) to make it much more interesting. Later, after 'Mastering' the initial Class board, you could spend a high amount of LP to unlock a secondary board (one from a selection of classes) for that character to work on to mix'n'match Classes. Some Classes would share certain abilities, equipment and bonuses with other Classes but have different LP costs to obtain that particular licence. i.e. Both a Black Mage and a White Mage can obtain the licence to use Rods but it will cost the Black Mage only 100 LP whilst the White Mage will have to spend 200 LP. To obtain Staffs for both those Classes would be the same but the costs reversed.
