So I found this on About.com and was quite surprised at the difference in numbers!

Largest Continents in Population

1. Asia - 4,055,000,000 (Over 4 billion)
2. Africa - 1,108,500,000 (Over 1 billion)
3. Europe - 729,871,042 (including all of Russia)
4. North America - 522,807,432
5. South America - 379,919,602
6. Australia - 20,434,176
7. Antarctica - No permanent residents but up to 4000 researchers and personnel in the summer and 1000 in the winter.

To me it feels like there are too many people here in Australia and yet there is so little compared to other places.

I couldn't imagine living anywhere else now. 0_o

Australia is the smallest continent in the world. It's not that surprising. In addition, there are inhabitable areas in the country like deserts. It's quite impossible to tell the population density from these data alone.

However, it is indeed true that the population density in Australia is smaller than most other continents. 7.3 people/square miles in Australia, compared to 55 people/square miles in America. (data from wikipedia)

Though population density is generalised, and it depends on which region exactly you are living in.

Common sense really. You really should travel more. Who cares about statistics, see the splenders of the world with your own eyes. I would love to have lived in AU. Nature is always ace. Concrete jungles & shitty rain not so.

No.
Australasia is a continent, australia isn't.
Most australians are xenophobic bigots that's why they think that too many people live in australia.
I would have thought that Europe would have had more people and Africa had less.

what the.. america has a smaller population number than europe.. that a pretty bug surprise XD... but but i don't normally believe about.com cuz the information tends to be a bit out of date.. bvut this information is pretty intresting :hmmm:... lool at 4000 people in the south pole :P

what's a big surprise about america having a smaller population than europe? europe is enormous in comparison to europe, epsecially when russia is included

Australasia is a region, not a continent. It further includes New Zealand and some more nearby islands.

Meh! Definitions tend to conflict anyway.

I doubt it's entirely accurate either but it says this information was last updated in March this year or something. :hmmm:

Anyway regardless it still feels squishy here. :jtc: I wish they'd stop letting everyone in just because. Soon there will be no room left for the people who were here first.

Oddly enough very few people want to go to australia.
Those who do are refugees. People who can no longer live in their own country, and yet australia that has so much room refuses to let them in. Unless they're white of course.
australia is not a continent, that is pro-australia propaganda. There'e less truth in that than in a Michael Moore film.

:hmmm: everyone loves Australia but you Halabindi. Specially the Brits, Paki's and Chinas

Indians or Pakistanis?
Because there's a very good reason for Indians wanting to migrate.

Probably both actually. The Indians migrate here and then cry about how racist we are to them :hmmm: they shouldn't have moved to a country notorious for being Racist.
