See now I don't get it, they aren't meant to have hearts but he quite clearly cares for Roxas, this game is so goddam confusing....

I wouldn't say he was gay, I just think he cares for his pal there......but yeah...all that lack of heart business.....wtf >_<
 
I don't think Axel would be gay for caring about his only friend, and I don't think a Disney game would have a gay character in their games it would ruin their reputation :monster:
 
In that video from Final mix, you notice how he pulls the icecream out from no where? HOW does he do that?!

Anyway, I try to look at things from Axel's veiw... you get 'born' in some strange place without any real feelings, you join this group of (soon to be) 13/14 people you can't stand. You know you'll more then likely never meet your other half, both light and darkness treat you like shit just for being what you are, and thats nothing! You are nothing! Depressing much?
Suddenly this new guys shows up and you feel like your connecting with someone. Roxas was a little different to start with, being part of the oh-so-mighty keyblade master and all, I think for any nobodie to have connected with him in such a way they would begin to feel something also... I don't know, I think Axel didn't want to lose Roxas becasue he knew that after he joined Sora again then he would stop feeling (or think he stopped feeling) and he would go back to where he was before Roxas joined, and that was alone.
From that prospectiveI think in someways Axel's obession with being around Roxas or bringing him back is understandable... Aside from the whole Roxas thing, Axel is/was a bit odd to begin with...


(I'm rambling now, those up there are my main points.. read on if you want)

In many ways Axel and Roxas's relationship reminds me a lot of my brother's and HIS best friend. My Brother (Blake) has had a horrible past, he hated everyone for a list of reasons and never really had anyone. Suddenly he meets this dude named Joe, something about them just clicks and they become best friends. Near the end they really only hung out with eachother; after deleting over half of the people in his cellphone (aside from his girlfriend and family) he told my brother he was the only person outside of family that he really cared about anymore. Never really belonging anywhere my brother was touched, however a week later Joe died in a carcrash. (Yeah, it SUCKS' that was two months ago). I see my brother as Axel and Joe as Roxas kind of...

GAH! sorry, I didn't have to list all of that, just... Kingdom hearts focuses on friendship, there are many different kinds of friendships; I think maybe threy wanted to cover the whole? Just because two males eating salty icecream while watching the sunset together doesn't mean they are gay...

No he's not gay he just cares about he's best friend he's homey whatever you want to call it. XD But no he isnt I highly doubt Enix would put a gay guy in a Disney game. :P
 
Axel is a Nobody. He can't really feel love. Besides, they're just friends. Two guys who care about each other doesn't mean they're gay. Just means they're friends.
 
I like to believe that he cared a lot for his friend. But damnit his attitude towards Roxas is too creepy; still sweet tho xD

Definitely not gay. What's up with these gay threads anyway? Axel just wants his friend back, I could understand his actions throughout the game completely.
 
Haha I laughed when I saw this thread! Axel? Gay? Nah!! As everyone else says he just cares for his friend, it seems like him and Roxas were close in a brotherly way. Not a gay way.

^Yeah Axel isn't gay, his relationship towards Roxas as like a big brother is probably why someone would assume this though. This thread was obviously made as a joke. I mean maybe if someone was insecure about their sexuality or attracted to Axel as a pixelated character in a video game, then maybe you'd start a thread like this. I mean some of the parts or scenes in the KH games are a little gay now then but that's mostly becuase of the Disney side of the game.

On the subject of Axel I love that line he says in KH2; "The name's Axel, got it memorized?"
xD And then later with Sïax. "Got it memorized?" He says that really funny. heh

This is really pissing me off...

The creator, Tetsuya Nomura, Intended on Axel and Roxas being gay. THEY ARE GAY! AND IN THE ENGLISH VERSION THEY ARE STILL GAY! and because we stupid fucking Americans have to be homophobic the dulled the yaoi down a hell of a lot! I swear it pisses me off everytime someone says 'EW' to AkuRoku... THEY ARE GAY YOU STEROTYPICAL, HOMOPHOBIC LITTLE ASSHATS!! Get your facts right....:se7:is love...

Im not a yaoi crazed fan-girl either... so don't yell at me for being a crazy physo, pmsing bitch because i love yaoi... it's just FACT!

Also, if it's "fact" then I'd appreciate some substantial evidence.
 
i remember reading somewhere that Tetsuya Nomura made all the relationships ambiguous so people could pair up everyone as thy saw fit, i will try to find the link to where i read this.
 
I see a lot of close-mindedness in this thread.

The way I see it, Axel's feelings towards Roxas were intentionally left ambiguous. He DOES show signs of caring for Roxas just a little bit too much for friendship, and as someone already pointed out, it was more blatant in the Japanese version. However, it's also perfectly fine to just view it as a platonic kind of relationship. I must ask you this, though, would you still be so adamant against the possibility of Axel loving Roxas if Roxas were a girl? It's fair to say that Axel loved Roxas in some way or the other. It could have been strictly platonic, or also romantic and sexual; there's just no way to tell.

I don't think any of you can say that Axel wasn't gay any more than anyone can prove that he was. As long as we don't see two characters kissing and proclaiming their romantic love for each other, who can really say with absolute confidence whether they are gay or straight?

I also disagree that Disney or Square wouldn't put a homosexual character in a game. Sailor Moon was, what? Aimed at 12-year-old girls? Yet it had two openly lesbian characters.

Axel may have been gay. He may have been straight. We don't know and we'll never know; it was left ambiguous by the creators on purpose. Both interpretations are equally valid.
