:dry:...Sure. Despite the fact that a significant percentage of people get their first sexual encounter with a member of the same sex. And also despite the fact that most people who admit to their homosexuality say that they have been aware of it at the same time people begin having crushes.

It's not like gay people start off straight, and then suddenly go awry.

The only reason that kids might not 'accept' homosexuality or understand it is because they believe that it is either wrong or doesn't exist. If a young boy gets a crush on another young boy, obviously he'll try to rationalize that it's not a crush at all if he believe that homosexuality is wrong or that it can't happen.

Don't mind me getting way too serious about this... I've had to stand up for my gay friends and give them support throughout their coming out, so I might take this topic a little too seriously.
 
Why are people so curious as to whether or not a character MIGHT have been throwing his chakras on the other side of the world or not? Seriously, would it have effected the plot at ALL, if he had been gay? The same goes for the Riku thread.

Hear, hear. I don't think it really affects anything and it bugs me when people try to say otherwise; it's not as if romance was really that big of a motivator for the characters. Romance was more of a side-thought whereas the big point was friendship.

I voted Axel is gay for the simple fact that I want him to be.

Though I know its not likely for Square's intentions, it could be hidden somewhere in subtle effect (yeah, my delusions of grandeur). It's just that with a relationship like with Disney, I doubt they want to jeopardize anything so if it is true, Square will deny the fact that he's gay anyway.

Nomura explains in Kingdom Hearts 368/2 Days (Nintendo DS), Roxas and Axel spend their time together on the Twilight Station/Clock Tower or whatever it's called every sunset... Whilst sharing their ice cream.

I'd LIKE the thought they be doing the nasty up there too. ;D

It's probably more of a friend relationship like Sora to Riku as Roxas to Axel.
 
Demyx was gay.

Axel was not.

I quite liked his hair. Awfully thin and un-built for a guy who throws around heavy-looking wheels as much as he does, though.
 
I demand that such threads as these be moved to the fun section, or be closed, for two reasons;
1) You can practically predict that the general posting fashion to the opening comment will be a combination between a joke, following swiftly by a "nah, seriously, he wasn't gay."
2) There's nout but spam here tbph xD

The thread-starters don't seem to be all that serious either and I see an unfair trend of people saying "he's not gay". D: Obviously I don't like this because I'm a crazy yaoi lover.
 
I don't think that Axel is gay at all. I don't think that any of the characters in any of the Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts series are gay at all, no matter what anyone says about them.
 
Axel is NOT gay! He just cares for his friend. He is a nobody and what do nobodies want? A heart. What do you get witha heart? Emotion. He just wants to care about someone and someone to do that in return! And he cares for Roxas
 
Well...at least I can sorta see how people could consider Axel gay. He does seem to like Roxas/Sora a little...too much.

Still, I think it's absurd to think Axel's gay. He's just a caring individual, I'm sure.
 
IMO he isnt. Disney arent going to place a homosexual character into their games. Axel cares for Roxas because they are close friends, nothing gay about that.

Authorial intent doesn't really matter that much. Despite what Shakespeare wanted to say, some people will interpret Horatio to have been in love with Hamlet, and really, an extreme reader reaction theory would probably state that even misreading something is a correct interpretation, if what matters is not the story, but what is gained from it.

And in any case, it's not a matter of Disney-fied morals, but rather consumer and mainstream morals that are so homophobic. Disney supports gay rights (every Disney park has Gay Days, and also consider how many gay people are employed by Disney) and the ones who complain are the far-right conservatives.

Also, really close friendships between two males, though they might not be overtly homosexual, can still have very homosexual aspects to them. But in my opinion, the friendship between Axel and Roxas fluctuates between being romantic and platonic - much like Finny and Gene in A Separate Peace.
 
No, Axel wasn't gay, but let it be known that I think Square-Enix designed him with the intention of making people (particularly yaoi fangirls) think he's gay. Let's face it, folks, Kingdom Hearts is filled to maximum capacity with yaoi bait. There are so many potential couples in this game, yet at the same time, there are only four original female characters- Kairi, Namine, Larxene, and "#14." I mean, just look at the Organization. Here you have a secret society living in total seclusion whose members include twelve Bishounen and one girl who is killed off within five hours of her introduction. It doesn't take a master detective to figure out what Nomura's real intention was; to make the fangirls speculate and, thus, buy the game. I'm willing to bet that none of the Kingdom Hearts characters are actually homosexual, they were just created with yaoi fangirls in mind.

Axel/Roxas was just one of those alleged couples. Do I think that it's possible that Axel and Roxas were gay for each other? Yeah, I wouldn't say that it's impossible. However, by no means was it confirmed in the storyline. The only thing we know for sure is that Axel cared very deeply for Roxas. On that note, though, I am willing to concede that Axel/Roxas is probably the most likely yaoi couple in this game. I definitely say that it's not going to happen in the storyline. It would just be too much trouble for everyone and totally not worth the effort. But imagining the characters beyond the Square-Enix cage, - as personalities, not as corporate creations - the possibility for homosexuality is by no means a stretch.
 
i do agree that it was never stated in the plot line anywhere
and i know that disney would never make a gay character
aslong as there are homophobes out there, but comon there is a huge chance
that axel was gay out of the world we see him in
its not a far stretch

like when axel kidnaps kairi he says something around the line of "we're both tired of waiting for someone we care about", see the parallel? kairi n sora are in love, and axel could care for roxas in the same way for all we know. you'll all admit sora and kairi are a straight couple in love, so why cant axel love roxas

further more when he is dying he talks about how roxas was the only one who made him feel. nobodies dont have hearts, and what do you do with a heart, you love and care. sure he could ahve cared for roxas as a friend, but would that be enough to make a nobody "feel". would it have been the same if riku would ahve hugged heartless sora, no. i dont think sora would have regained his form by hugging riku "a firend". it was kairis love. its always extreme love that tends to make all the extremes in this game occur, iunno just think about it, closing your mind to possibilities that are evident doesnt seem very wise, so if u dont beleive that theyre not gay thats ok, doesnt mean that its farfetched in the least bit

someone ask the creator already
also dumbledore from harry potter was gay
and it was never mentioned in the book
but all along JK rowling had a vision of him as gay
and didnt reveal it till the end of the series

The only reason he is obsessed with Roxas is because they used to be best friends. Can you imagine losing a best friend. It sucks. About taht Disney not letting them have a gay character is true as is the fact that they wont kill one off xD
