What are some of the most iconic movie scenes you can think of? I'm talking about scenes which have become so famous (whether it be through parodies or references etc..) that they may not even need to be associated with the movie they are in to be recognizable. Scenes that you knew about before you even saw the movie they are in etc..

Off the top of my head I can think of:

The underwear dance scene from Risky Business.

The "you talking to me?" scene from Taxi Driver.

There are plenty of others out there, fire away.

I can think of several iconic scenes just from the original Star Wars trilogy :lew: but that's just because I've watched the whole saga this month >_>

And then, since I'm thinking of film trilogies, these two from LOTR spring to mind immediately:

The Psycho shower scene is probably the most parodied of the lot, and speaking of Hitchcock the crop duster attack in North by Northwest.

I've lost count of the number of times I've seen this parodied.

So many memorable lines there.

"We'll always have Paris."

"Here's looking at you, kid."

"Round up the usual suspects!"

Can't find the entire segment where she first talks with him, but damn, that movie. Hopkins is on the screen for less than twenty minutes of the entire movie and he nails Best Actor.

In Disney World's "Great Film Ride" or whatever the exact name is, there's a theater screen in the waiting area that loops around a lot of what they consider to be "Classic Film Moments". This is one of them.

The scene at the end of the Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is very memorable for me. Even though it's not the VERY end, it does a great job of bringing the story to a close. It's a great Bill Murray film directed by Wes Anderson, for those who haven't seen it. SPOILER ALERT for the ending.

RUN FORREST RUN!

Anytime you see someone randomly running past you always seem to hear someone call out, "Run Forrest Run". XD

You can't handle the truth!

Always seem to hear this one and I've never seen the movie either by the way.

All I can think of at the moment.

This is an iconic scene in a movie I think:

The fact of the matter is, when they fired Andrew Beckett because he had AIDS, they broke the law.

Philadelphia.

The speech from scent of a woman.

I'm the Daddy now.

And the stairs bit from Rocky.

Dr. Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. Major Kong's death scene.

I'm not really sure how iconic this movie scene is, but they spoofed it on The Simpsons, so it's got to be somewhat well known. Not to mention that it's my favorite movie scene... EVER!
