I got this idea from reading various posts around the forum saying, "I just now finished Crisis Core!" ...and it's only been out for a little over a week now.

So, how long does it normally take you to finish a game? (Of course, this is pertaining more to RPG/Action/Adventure games and not something like Tetris.) Why does it take you that amount of time to finish a game? Is it because you're so interested in the game that you just can't seem to put the controller down? (Or handheld system, whatever.) Or perhaps you're simply not as interested and have to practically force yourself to finish a game?

It usually takes me 3 - 6 months to finish a game, no matter how simple it is. I sometimes lose interest in the midst of playing, (although very rare) replay it later down the road, and then finally finish it. Sometimes it even takes as long as a year, but that's rare. I don't think I've ever played an RPG game and finished it under 3 months. I believe it takes me that long because of the need to level up all my characters.

Forcing myself to finish a game is hardly a factor for me since I always seem to find something enjoyable about a game that not only pushes me to play it, but also makes me dread the ending of a gameplay. (That usually happens with Final Fantasy games - I don't ever seem to want the game to end since I love playing it so much.)

I think how much i like a game is the major factor in how long it takes me to finish a game.
and what other stuff, ie school work, i have to do at that moment in time.

On average, it takes me about two months, i like to go out most weekends, and sometimes i like to read a book. But on some weekends i just lay in bed playing a game.

also whether i'm playing the game for the first time is important, if im playing it for the first time, i tend to rush through it, mostly for the story.
However if i've already finished it, the story isnt the main thing, i was playing FFX a couple of weeks ago and i got blitzace whilst still on the mihen highroad.

I often get bored of games and switch half way through, so that just increases the time it takes. I dont think i ever have to force myself to finish a game, because that wouldnt be enjoyable, so i just wouldn't, ya know?

so, i'd say it depends on the game and other things, but like i said before, about two months

the FF/RPG games always takes me too much time to beat 60-100 hours with the side quest.

the other takes me between 6-15 hours to beat.

Due to time constraints through work, and occasionally having to work at home, I don't have nearly as much time as I once did to play video games. Used to take me about a week to complete your average game [of any genre], and about 2 - 3 weeks for something like Final Fantasy.

Now, however, it'd probably take me approximately a month. Can't estimate for FF, seeing as I've completed all the ones I have immediate access to [it'd take me a couple of days now seeing as I know where to go and best routes to take etc].

So generally around a month to complete a game, I'd say.

I'm pretty much the same but exchange work for school. Now that it's the school holidays, however, I was able to finish all three Kingdom Hearts games within a week, purely because I had nothing planned for this week. Had I attempted this when I was back at school, I'd still be flailing around Traverse Town. :wacky:

It depends on the game for me, too. Obviously, every game differs in length but for something like Final Fantasy, it does take me around about the same time period.

I don't actively rush myself to beat a game simply to have some sort of sense of accomplishment because I beat it so fast. I like to enjoy it, which would explain my 100+ hour exploits on most main series FF games...

I used to beat them stupidly fast like within a couple of weeks, now tho, due to the length of the games/lack of interest or what ever it can take me months, longer even....I started ages ago and Im still not that far into it....this ones gunna take me years just through sheer bone idleness

I fondly remember destroying FFVII & VIII in no time -_- then Id go back to 100% them best I could and even then it didnt take me as long as it does now

Really depends on the difficulty, amount of free roaming and sidequests, how interested I am, etc.

Generally, it can take me up to 2 months to complete a FF bit by bit, or for shooters, well, I rush through, then get stuck somewhere, and come back in a few days, get past that, rush some more, etc.

I can't exactly say a set amount of time, but approximately it takes around a week or so for me to complete a game. Of course, this time can decrease or increase depending on the length of the game, difficulty and other features of the game which include side-quest, puzzles, etc.

For example, most FF games consist on going to certain locations without any troublesome puzzles. On the hand, games like Resident Evil takes more thought to beat certain puzzles in order to move on to the next area.

If I really enjoy a game, it usually takes me about three or four weeks to complete it. I could probably finish faster, but I'm too busy right now to be devoting so much time to a game.

If it is just a game I just like, then probably about two months.

For a game that I just do not care for, I will probably never finish it.

It depends on the genre of game and also how much interest I have in the acutal game. If I'm not majorly interested in a game, it will take me much longer to complete.

On average, I'd usually say 4-6 weeks for me to complete a game, but games like Resident Evil only usually take me about 2 or 3 days because I'm playing it constantly for lengthy amounts of times.

Well with certain games such as hand-held games I could beat in 2-4 days. That is if I'm really sucked into it such as the Phoenix Wright/Ace Attorney series.

Games such as Final Fantasy and other rpgs usually takes me about 40 hours, then I go back to do side quests and level. It takes me about 2-4 weeks. Maybe more depending on what's going on with my life.

Shooters.... I can beat within a week.

It usually takes me a great deal of time to beat a game, but it really depends on the game.

Fighting games take me the shortest amount of time since I can memorize combos and moves easily to get through fights.

RPGs take the longest since I hate losing, I spend a long time doing side quests and leveling up a great deal so I can breeze through certain areas and not worry.

Depends on how interested i am in that game...
If i am very. I can finish in less than a week.
If i am not.. I take more than 3 months to finish, lol..!

On average...I'd say 30-40 hours. There are games that are simply gigantic like Oblivion, Dragonquest VIII and Tales of Symphonia--and then there's shorter games like God of War and Fable.

I haven't been playing many games that have a set beginning and end as of late, however. I play a large amount of multiplayer games like Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4.

A game I've never finished is Disgaea. That is going to take a long time, I can tell.

Other than that the average amount of playtime ranges from 27-50 hours, not counting all the random stuff you can do.

The actual game time depends on the genre but depending on how much time I have and whether or not I actually concentrate solely on that one title it could take anything from a couple of weeks to several years.

If I just play the storyline and don't worry about any of the extras, it only takes me a few weeks to beat a game. I usually do the sidequests and leveling as I go though, so it takes me months or even a year to beat some games. I did that with FFXII and Kingdom Hearts II.

Depends on the genre...

RPG's a month at most, really depends on my mood, and the quality of the game, most of the FF's I finished with 70 somewhat hours gametime, which is about a month.
Shooters just a couple of days, hell if it's a good one I finish it in one day.

It usually takes me a while as i dont consider beating the game as just simply finishing the direct storyline.
I wont consider a game beat unless i have completed and obtained everything the game has to offer, until i 100% that game as far as all sidequests, ultimate weapons, full stats etc.
