Playstation Heavy Rain: The Origami Killer.

Aww... but that would probably ruin the experience for you if you know the story already. You should just wait until you buy a PS3 then play it with it being entirely new to you. It is well worth it.

Anyway that was a fun 2 days worth of work. I have to say I really enjoyed the game. Even though I thought I had the killer all figured out, it turns out I was completely off track. I did not see that plot twist coming at all. However of course I won't say any names.

I agree with not having seen that coming :hmmm: The game had me fooled, even after I changed my theory 5,000,000 times of who the killer was. Was pretty enjoyable for me, to. :ryan: I like games that keep my attention beyond the first play through, as it makes going after platinum much less annoying.

Also, giving this person is a minor character you only see twice the whole game, I'll go ahead and add that the motel's receptionist was creepy enough to be a killer!

:wacky:

Yeah, he was quite creepy. I had him down as a Norman Bates myself.

Saying that I must add that I was very impressed by the minor characters in this game. Even these minor characters were quite interesting and had personalities.

I want to discuss the killer with someone now as I can't stop thinking about it, but I don't want to in here as if anyone accidentally highlights the spoiler tag then the game will be ruined for them. :hmmm:... :rage:

I'm just glad they gave convincing reasons for it, and when you look back on the rest of the game you can see that it fits, as opposed to just "oh, it was some random person - case solved". It was quite well done, and mostly hidden until it was revealed.

Not at all. I love games, but I'm not a huge gamer. I'm almost certain I rather watch someone play then play myself. :D

Won't ruin it for me even when I decide to buy the game myself. ^^

Ps though... I love the graphics in this game. They're not PERFECT, but they're pretty damn close to awesome.

Something else I thought I'd comment on before I forget...

I love the soundtrack for this game. Some of the music is really mysterious, and others are really emotional. It is quite fitting for a detective story like this, and it fits the mood of points in the game really well. I might have to see if I can get the soundtrack at some point. :hmmm:

I don't know so much about the soundtrack. Good as it was, I feel like they overused the main theme. :hmmm: While it was very good at first, I soon felt like it was droning by the end of the game.

That being said, I've beaten the game. So if you figure something out, Argor, I can contribute. :moose:

I agree that the main theme tune was quite overused, but I still loved that tune, and the soundtrack as a whole was quite nice to me.

Oh yeah... I found these and I thought they would be interesting.

These pictures show the actors who the characters were modelled on, did the motion capture, and most of them provided the voice overs as well.

I'll post some of the pictures here next to the game characters.

(I apologise if these pictures might tickle some peoples computers a little bit, but I figured it would save scrolling down in the place I found them, as I only saw the first posts and haven't checked it for spoilers yet and hence I haven't posted the link here)

Sorry about the massive picture dump... I just thought it was interesting to show. It's amazing how much Scott Shelby, above all the others seen there, really does look like that man in the game.

A few questions I have:

Seriously, how gory is this game? It seems like an interesting story, but I wanna actually be able to watch this without squirming at blood and guts. I've watched Law and Order and a little of CSI, so could I handle this game?

Also I remember I saw a scene of the female character running around in her undies in a trailer, and sex appeal aside, is there attempted rape? D=

Also, how long would you say your playthrough took? I don't want to invest a lot of money in a game that I could beat in only 20 some odd hours, you know? :/

I wouldn't say it is overboard with the gore. It is more of a psychological thriller, and the threats are usually much more than gore. There are a few scenes where there is, but you don't really see much of it, it is just the thought of it.

There isn't any attempted rape (at least there wasn't on my playthrough), but there is nudity and a sex scene where you will see breasts and bottoms.

(EDIT - actually, there is a forced strip, but that is as far as it goes down that route)

It plays more like a long and controllable movie, so it is about 10 hours or so long each playthrough. However since each playthrough can be different then the time you spend will probably go way over 20 hours. In my opinion I was glad it wasn't so long as I'd rather have followed the story and keep up to date with the investigation than have to load it up after an absence and ruin the experience. It could have been a few hours longer I guess, but it makes up for it.

A forced strip you say? I don't recall this... :hmmm:

Also, food for thought. The worse you do, the more gore you will get. As people die, bloody scenes occur. Make sense? Also, I believe a standard play through will be anywhere between 12-20 hours, varying on how well you can solve issues, or how much of a perfectionist you are. However, there are many different endings. 22 different epilogues, and a bunch of different endings based on mixtures of those 22 different epilogues.

I was referring to the scene in
the Blue Lagoon club where Paco holds his gun on Madison if she refuses to strip for him. God knows why I refused / delayed to strip for as long as I could though
... I think I feared someone walking into the room and asking me what the heck I was doing controlling a woman taking her top off.

Yeah, that's the best way of putting it. It probably took me about 15 hours, and I was a semi-perfectionist. I did try and look around all the places I went to, and fiddled with everything I could, but I know for a fact that there were some places that I missed while playing the game. The game can be extended for quite some time if you look around everywhere you can.

Oooooh. That part.
I only unbuttoned the shirt before introducing the side of his face to Mr. Lamp
so maybe that's why I forgot it :ryan:

Ah. :D

I didn't even notice
"Mr. Lamp" until I had taken off all my clothes, minus the panties, and had done a topless dance and wiggle for him
. :hmmm:

I think this highlights how a scene can be dramatically altered / avoided depending on choices. :D

I really love this game! Its sad that my favorite character turned out to be the killer though. I like all of the trials and
the one where you Ethan cuts off his finger the most, there is alot of different scenes to be seen here. Which makes it alot more awesome.

I didn't figure out who the killer was at first, so not everyone got to the scene. Im actually going to platinium this game!!

I just bought this game today and I'm looking forward to playing it.

I'm not usually into these sort of games but this one looks interesting enough.

Hope that it doesn't disappoint me. >.< Shall come back later with my thoughts on it after I've played some.

The game is good I am sure you will enjoy it. It really does have an interesting story and the game makes it so that the characters are likeable to the point to where you actually grow attached to them. However be warned

Mild spoiler?

All 4 characters CAN die depending on what you do. However they ususally die most of the time if you fail enough QTE or run out of time in certain situations.

End spoiler

Don't expect it to be a long game either. It is only about 10 hours long.

Maybe this is a very stupid question, but does contain spoilers, so unless you have beaten the game, don't look at this. :)

Since Ethan is NOT the killer....can anyone tell me where he gets all the figurines from his blackouts, even long before the Origami Killer crud happened?

Yeah... I was thinking about this a lot too.

(SPOILERS BELOW - DO NOT VIEW)
I think that
perhaps the killer found him while he was walking about in his blackouts and perhaps took the opportunity to frame him, placing the origami figure in his hand so that he would think it was him, and so would the police. And since the killer knows Blake he would know that the police are very quick to follow a lead and beat out a confession based on little evidence, especially if Ethan thought he was the killer himself, so he knew that he'd be ok. I think that's the only explaination I have for it.
.

Yes that is pretty much what I thought already reguarding that. However.

Spoilers

Was it ever explained...
When and why his blackouts just randomly disappeared after a certain point? I would think that with him stressing over where Shaun is would cause him to have more blackouts than usual.

No, I don't think it does, but I don't believe it was stress that caused his blackouts. I think it was his grief, but in his worry for his son he had to force himself to set those aside (as best as he could) in order to save him. Just a guess though.

Also, that would make sense, Argor. :ryan:
