From a place far away, not you're neighbours or anything like that. A place in which walking would be your last option. XD

I never had to until Friday night. >.<

We were at my work Christmas party and we booked our courtesy bus for midnight but we missed it and even though we could have waited another hour to catch the next one, we were both buggered, drunk and just wanted to get the hell home.

So we walked.

Steve had won a coffee machine and had to carry the heavy thing the whole way home.

I had my heels on and had to keep taking them off when I thought it was safe enough to do so. I wouldn't walk on the grass without them in case I couldn't see glass or something. :hmmm:

We only lived five minutes around the corner but that's only if you're driving. XD Walking felt like half an hour. :gonk:

Steve has done this sort of thing before when he was younger. He claimed to have walked eight hours just to get home once. XD

So yes, that is my little story of walking home for the first time ever!

Anyone else do this sort of thing all the time due to lack of other transport?

well one time i was very drunk. on my stag night in fact. and i walked 500 miles. then my soon to be wife phoned me and said "jim where the fuck are ya?" so i had to walk another 500 miles. then i fell down at her door. but i remind her of this every valentines day. saves me buying her a present.

my feet were covered in blisters and my nose nearly fell off.

One time my bus pass got stolen while I was in a shopping area that was tens of miles from my house(Like 30). My mom decided to cut my access to my credit card the day before for god knows why and I spent all my cash shopping. I had to walk 3 miles to a subway station and beg for a free ride to the station near my house which was another two miles away. It was 4am by the time I got home and walking home at night in my neighborhood is dangerous. The walking wasn't a problem for me but the willpower to motivate me was seriously lacking.

8( Either that was an exaggeration or your are easily the craziest person I have ever met...

On topic, I used to do a lot of walking a few years ago when I had no license/no car but now not so much. Though I never walked a really long distance. I think the farthest I ever walked was to somewhere, can't remember where, about 30 minutes away by car. Considering how hot it was at the time, I am surprised I didn't pass out then...

I've done it multiple times. The apartment I live at was close to my high school and a little farther than that to the college I go to. About 3/4 of a mile between the high school and my home and 2.5 miles between the college and my home. I only ever walked home from the high school maybe 4 or 5 times and despite it being on streets that the hospital security frequently patrol on, my father disapproved. Still it served a purpose in the case where my bus was late.

As for the college, I usually carpool with a friend but sometimes they have been called away before my last class ends so I end up walking home. It takes an hour and a half but its not too bad. I've done then about 3 times as much as when I was in the high school. Carrying 20 pounds of books isn't fun but considering I've lugged 30 pounds of camping supplies over a 13 mile stretch, its nothing I can't do.

When I lived at mums I had the bright idea to walk home from work back to her house because by car it only takes 20 minutes and i thought ehh can't be that bad. It was summer and it was very fucking hot. It took me about an hour or so to get home :rage: I was sweating like a fat toldie and vowed never to do it again.

The house I am in now is too far away from pretty much everything so I will not attempt to walk home from anywhere. Though the other week my cars tyre burst near my house and I had to walk a whole 5 minutes home. :sad3: woe is me

:lew:

me and my mate had gone to visit another mate for a bbq to celebrate the birth of his son. we went out in a nearby village, and when we decided to go home we ended up having to walk because we couldn't get a taxi for about 3 more hours. it was a good 45 minute drive back to his house, and we were out in the middle of nowhere in the country and had to walk along pitch black roads.

i also used to have to walk 45 minutes to and from uni when i was still living with my parents.

jim :lew:

Aye loadsa times. I honestly dont mind walking at all. Ive walked into town loasa times from my work or from mates houses when wer off into town. Walked home after a night out aswell. An hour walk really isnt anything. I pop my music in and away i go.

Loads of times, i remember walking back from mancheszter once in 4 inch heels, i had blisters on blisters :sad3: It was worth it for Rick falling over though, I think that will always be my best memory of him ever hahaha

Ive walked to work a few times, not quite the same, but it was still a mission.

Ive walked from my friends house to mine once as well, that took a good hour

Last month I walked back from the middle of the town where my ex boyfriend lives back to his house. It's normally about a 40 minute walk anyway but because we were drunk, it was 1am and I was in heels it took us about an hour and a half :wacky:
I took my shoes off halfway there because I thought it would help, but no, it didn't, the road surface was rough and wet and it hurt even more :hmmm:

In the summer I occasionally walk home from 6th form which is about 40 minutes. Saves me money on a bus ticket and when it's nice and warm its quite a nice walk. I never walk there though, can't get out of bed in time for that.

But yeah :hmmm: a 30 minute walk really is nothing.

I had to walk two miles back home at 1:30 in the morning :/ Was awful and I was very scared.

I was out with one of the people who calls me their friend a year or so ago. We were drinking at the bar, the night seemed to be average at best, he said he knew a bartender girl, so we talked to her, and went to her place for some after work chilling and drinks. :)

He drove, and after we got there, told me that i could not stay, because he wanted to hook up with the girl...she seemed totally wierded out because we only had one car, and i was walking away from her place like, uhhh i have to go, yeah, i'm walking this way. :lew:

In conclusion, I had to walk very far back to my apartment, all the way across town, at about 4am, I would say 4 or 5 miles walking down empty roads. I felt properly lonley, dirty, and poor. Reports say he did not hook up with the girl. She was too hot for him anyway, and I could have told him that, ffs.

...

I also was left at the bus stop, or left out of the loop, by my parents, during 6th or 7th grade, the best stop was an easy 10-15 miles from their house, and i realized walking was faster than waiting, so i went for it.

They pulled in from errends or work or whatever and saw me walking through the neighborhood, and knew what had happened...lol i think they tried to make it up to me, i guess they tried.
