Full Metal Alchemist – The RP

Imagine a world in which Alchemy is not only possible, but used frequently. Alchemy though, is a science, and with all sciences there are laws that must be followed. People cannot gain anything without sacrificing something. You must present something of equal value to gain something. That is the principle of equivalent trade in alchemy.

It has been a month since the events surrounding the Philosopher's Stone and yet the country is only just beginning to return to it's normal state. But not everything has changed, wars are still abundunt and the army has been spread thin. Also, due to events surrounding the entire army, many have deserted and joined the uprising that was beginning to form within Central City. Not only have soldiers left but also State Alchemists.

This story is the telling of this small war. What side will you join? Will you be an alchemist who has lost his title? A soldier willing to lose all to defend his country? It's your choice.

"Urgh." Rene groaned as he clapped his gloved hands together and slammed them against the table. A sort of glyph appeared on the tabletop, causing two poles to shoot from it and pin the man opposite him to the nearby wall. The poles had shot straight through the mans clothing and cut him slightly, causing the shirt to turn red slightly. "I told you sir, a violent tone of voice will not be tolerated."

"Damned alchemists! You just go round thinking you're the goddamn best! All you can do are a few cheap magic tricks! Now lemme go so I can ram your head through that window!" The man snarled, dropping the cleaver in his right hand. Rene smiled as he brushed a strand of his spiky brown hair out of his eyes. The man was a short, fat and balding man. He was the local butcher. "That kid's the one who stole my damned meat! Why are you punishing me!"

"You were about to cut his hands off before I came in!" Rene said, raising his voice. The man instantly quietened. The small boy was in the corner, shivering. He wore tatty brown clothes and looked as though he hadn't washed or eaten in the past few days. "I do not tolerate scumbags like you who try to hurt little children! It's people like you who force children to turn to crime just to be able to live for a few more days!" Rene lifted his hands off the table and allowed the poles to return back to the surface of the table. He began to walk towards the door but turned to the little boy as he reached the doorway.

"What is your name child?" Rene asked whilst sorting out the collar of his blue military jacket that he had been forced to wear today.

"T-Thomas..." The boy stuttered. He began to stand up but tripped slightly. Rene quickly caught him and stood him on his own two feet.

"Here, come with me. It's early so we shall go get some breakfast. Okay?" Rene said smiling at the boy. The boys eyes lit up with happiness.

"Sure!" The boy cried in happiness as they left the butchers. Rene smiled and looked upwards at the sky. Thomas followed his glance and spotted the large building the army uses. "You're a dog of the military aren't you? You're scum right?"

"Aye, I am a dog of the military I suppose, but we're not all that bad. And you shouldn't say things like scum." Rene told him. It's evaluation day, Rene though as he sighed slightly, I still haven't thought of anything and I have to present myself in just a few hours, and not only that, a large group of citizens had begun to follow the pair.

Hmm... Rene thought, this might be fun.

He was sat in a cold wet Cell as he listened to the two guards stood talking "Apparently this is the Mayhem Alchemist" the other looked at Stephen grimly "that guy a state Alchemist, where is his Uniform" the second announced. Stephen looked down at the Cuffs around his wrists "you guys should stop talking about me when your close enough for me to hear you" one of the Guards let out a laugh "I'm going for some food, you want anything" he asked the first guard "No I'm fine" he replied. The Second guard strode off as the first guard turned to face Stephen "Without your transmutation circle you can't do anything" he announce.

Stephen held his hands into the air so the Cuffs were on show. he then clapped his hands and placed his right index finger on the Cuffs. The Cuffs transmuted into a small Blade which Stephen threw into the guards neck, killing him slowly. Blood poured down his throat and into his lungs, he drowned in his own blood. Stephen stood up and walked over to the bars of the cage "Such a shame, i thought i might like it here" he announced before he clapped and placed his hands on the bars which then turned into small metal sculptures in his hands. He dropped the Sculptures and walked towards the Exit.

(OOC: Kupo it's not the State Alchemists Exam, it the yearly evaluation that all Alchemists must participate in to be allowed to keep their titles)

"Hey you!" A man shouted from behind Rene and the small boy. "We don't want YOUR kind hangin' around here, so get the hell out!" Rene turned his head around and looked at the man speaking. He was a large, beast of a man and was holding what Rene assumed to be a large pickaxe. There was also around 10 other men behind the man who Rene assumed must be their leader.

"Hey Tom." Rene said in a calm, reassuring tone. He put his hand into his pocket and grabbed his wallet. He chucked it to Tom who caught it after a slight fumble. "Go grab yourself something to eat. And keep yourself safe okay?"

"Okay..." Thomas muttered before running off and turning around the corner.

"What can I do for you gentlemen?" Rene said, unzipping his blue jacket so he was more comfortable.

"We just want you to leave and never come back dog!" A man in the crowd shouted. "You alchemists deserve to rot in hell!"

"What have we ever done to harm you?" Rene demanded, slightly annoyed at the situation he was now in.

"I'LL KILL HIM THEN!" Someone screamed, charging forwards with what looked like a sword. The man raised it above his head and immediately brought it down on Rene. There was no time for alchemy so instead he rose his left arm and let the blade crash into it. A loud metallic thud could be heard and the blade sudden;y had a very long crack stemming from the part that hit the arm. "Wh-What are you!"

"My name is Rene Skylar." Rene told them, grabbing the blade with his left hand and gripping. "I'm known as the Lightning Alchemist." As he said this he suddenly crushed the blade in his left hand and pushed the man back into the crowd. He smirked as he took off his jacket and revealed his left arm made of auto mail. He clapped his hands together and slid his right hand along his left arm. A blade seemed to appear from the top of his hand. A technique he had learned from Edward Elric. "if you really wish to fight me, then fight."

As soon as he said this, quite a few of the crowd cowered away except for three. The large beasty man, the butcher from earlier and the man who had the sword. "Fine then. We'll fight you, then kill you!" The beasty one shouted before charging forwards and bringing his pickaxe down on him. Rene easily blocked the blow and kicked the man feet from beneath him. The swordsman one, who had gotten a new one, snuck up behind Rene. Rene already knew what he was doing and jumped up high to avoid being stabbed, whilst in mid-air he spun and kicked the mans face. As soon as he landed the butcher surged forward with a cleaver and aimed for Rene's head. Rene smirked as he clapped his hands together and placed them on the ground as the butcher ran. Within a second the ground beneath the butcher disappeared and he fell into a 5 meter low hole.

"Sorry fellas, but I gotta go now if ya don't mind." Rene said as he walked away back to Central HQ.

The light from the sun splayed into the room, giving it a nice pleasant feel. At one of the many windows of the room sat Valkyrie, leaning upright on the padded chair, just gazing out into the scenery of the city. A scene in front of the building did not distract her from what she was doing nor did the fact that there was some form of gathering scheduled today.

"Hm....it sure is picturesque..." she murmured to herself as her ears picked up the sound of rapid footsteps approaching.

As Varin explored the streets of Central he eventually came to a building, within he saw several state alchemists, he recognised them from the books he had read. he then walked in, almost with pride, he then approached the desk where a small man with black hair and glasses looked up, unable to hide the shock of the sheer size of him and fell out of his seat. he slowly got back up and without looking up he said "name please" Varin, barely holding in what little laughter was in him coughed lightly and replied "Varin Mani" the small man sighed slightly "not on the list" Varin looked quite confused but a female alchemist with brunette hair beckoned him to speak to her. "this is the evaluation for current alchemists, you'll have to wait for a week for the test to try and join." Varin sighed slightly at this, then the brunette spoke up again "you are able to sign up for the test however, then return in a week and you can take the test." varin smiled slightly at this "sign me up then, Varin Mani" The brunette wrote his name down on a small piece of paper she had, then nodded to him.

Varin then left the building, he was slightly annoyed that he had come here and still had to wait, however the time gave him a chance to explore the area. It was then that he heard many angry voices at once, he decided not to bother yet, they'll calm down on their own anyway, though if he did see to them it would probably help him get into the state alchemists. He then slowly made his way toward the noises.

Rene smiled as he walked away from the mumbling crowd. Man, Rene thought to himself as he turned the corner and started heading towards Central Headquarters, that was a larger crowd than normal. He realised his arm was still transmuted into a blade form and he quickly returned it to normal. He put his glove on and rubbed some of the dirt from his face.

"Ahhhh!" Rene yawned, stretching his arms. "Time for evaluation!" As he said this he borke into a sprint and charged through the gates of headquarters whilst pinning his rank insignia to his jacket.

The door flew open as a Corporal peered into the room. After a few seconds of scanning, he caught sight of the tips of blue and white hair.

"Lt. Colonel Ayleth. You are requested to the registry for the Evaluation Examination." boomed the Corporal. Valkyrie gave him an almost unnoticeable nod, in which he missed.

"Uh...Ma'am, i said you are requested to the Registr..." Before he could finish, Valkyrie stood up in her usual slow graceful manner, snapping shut her book.

"I heard, Corporal..." Valkyrie replies in her soft tone. Placing the leather bounded book on the table, Valkyrie made her way to the window sill and looked out. The corporal stood at attention, waiting for the Lt. Colonel to follow him out, but instead, his eyes bulged as Valkyrie placed a foot on the window sill and dropped out of the third storey building. Sd he dhoved his head out of the window, Valkyrie stood up from the landing, ignoring the Corporal's call. She now stood outside of the grounds, and the fastest wasy was via the front Entrance. Turning to the entrance, Valkyrie walked not far when she saw the entrance blocked by some commotion. Curious, she reached and tapped the closest observer on the shoulder.

"Excuse me, may i enquire why there is a crowd here?" The man turned and was about to growl when he recognise a state alchemist.

"I...uh...i don't know... just leave me alone!" before the man bolted from Valkyrie. Wondering what was wrong with the man, she slipped through the crowd and continued forward into the HQ when she saw Colonel Skylar hurrying. Running casually, Valkyrie greeted the Colonel.

"Good morning, Colonel Skylar"

"Well hey there Val!" Rene exclaimed in his usual happy manner. "Ready for the evaluation?" He noticed the crowd milling around the entrance to the headquarters and sighed. "It's like this all over the place. I got attacked by a bunch of guys earlier." He then turned to the crowd and grinned.

"Hey you lot! If ya don't leave now I'm gonna make you sorry!" Rene shouted as he clapped his hands together, creating a circle of power. The crowd mumbled for a few minutes.

"We demand justice!" A female voice shouted, immediately followed by a loud cheer. Rene shrugged and placed his hands on the ground. A large wall appeared just outside of the gate in front of the crowd and slowly began to push them away whilst speeding up. Within ten seconds the entire crowd had disappeared down the street and Rene took his hands of the ground. "Come on Lieutenant, let's go to evaluation..."

As Varin rounded a corner he saw the origin of the noise, a large group of people, obviously annoyed about something ran past. They quickly charged through him, knocking him back a bit on occasion. He grabbed one of the last ones by the arm. "what the hell's going on?" the man, slightly taken aback answered "it's those damn state alchemists, nothing but trouble, they get high on power and think they can control us!" the man then started to struggle to get out of Varin's grip so he released him and he ran after the rest of the crowd.

Varin thought to himself "the state alchemists... Bad? There's got to be something crazy about this..." Varin then cast aside this accusation, it was absurd. He decided to follow the crowd, see where they were headed, it appeared they were going to the central headquarters... He slowly rounded a corner, to see two alchemists before the crowd. One had his hands placed on the floor, suddenly a wall-wave was created and began to sweep through the crowd, pushing them back. As part of the wall neared him he clenched his fist, brought his arm back and thrust it forward, demolishing the wave that had tried to strike him, his hand stung a little but was otherwise unharmed. As the dust cleared he saw the two alchemists still there, but slowly heading inside the HQ. "stop! What was that about!? Harming innocents? What were you thinking! Are you trying to give the state alchemists a bad name!?" Varin was rather furious of this rash abuse of power, if he was not weakened he would have punched the alchemist there and then.

A soft warm breeze brushed across Koffin's face bringing to life a warm smile. Koffin had figured it a very beutiful day to go for a walk and so he found him self on the outskirts of the city walking across a cobblestone bridge that stretched over a flowing river that stretched for miles. Halfway across the bridge he stopped himself in his tracks and walked to the side of the bridge, pearing over the side he watched his reflection in the river... He saw a man with a pale white skin, long light blonde hair, and face with a grin that spread from one cheek to another. Koffin removed his torn shoes from his feet one at a time then sat on the ledge of the bridge. Koffin then dropped his feet into the water and felt the cold wet running river flow between his toes, it was a nice feeling and for a moment Koffin was having a nice day... Then suddenly his wonderful day was broken by a loud sound, like a smash between a brick wall and a tank. This sound suprisingly in Koffin's state of bliss sent him falling towards the water... Koffin though, quickly grabbed his top hat from his head; his hat was special, it was marked with a permenant transmutation circle on the inside of the hat. So as Koffin grasped his hat on his way towards the river and placed his palm inside of it; the hat then turned into a kite. As the kite launched into the air Koffin continued to fall yet luckily enough the small gust of wind flung the kite into the bridge catching itself on something, and so Koffin gripped tightly on the string of the kite and swung back towards the bridge. Once back on the bridge the kite returned back to the form of Koffin's top hat. Although the fat was powerful, it was very unstable. Once his shoes were back on, in an aggrivated mood he made his way back to the city... Koffin was no longer in such a pleasent mood, I hear they are having alchemist evaluations today... Koffin thought as an evil grin now took its place on his ghastly pale white face.

"stop! What was that about!? Harming innocents? What were you thinking! Are you trying to give the state alchemists a bad name!?"

Valkyrie stopped when she heard the line. out of curiosity, she turned to face the brave soul that had the guts to say something. As she looked up, her eyes saw a boy around her age, standing out amongst the crowd, openly questioning the Colonel's integrity and character.

"Colonel," she began softly, "It seems as though this one is different than the rest. He seems quite interesting to me....don't you think so?" she finished, giving one of her rare smile.

"Leave him." Rene ordered his subordinate, he looked back at the huge man who had spoken and gave him a quick smile. You look interesting... Rene thought to himself, I feel as though we may meet again sometime. As he began to walk away from the scene he suddenly stopped. "Lieutenant! At attention now!"

Koffin walked into central and looked around with eyes that can observe even the slightest of details. He opened his mind and allowed all sounds to enter his head for a brief moment and soon he started to hear to roar of a crowd. Koffin stepped towards the sound and as he let his intuition lead him to this sound surley enough he came across the source of it. Koffin observed the crowd as the roared and yelled at the state alchemists; Koffin chuckled then reached into his pocket... From his pocket he pulled a piece of white chalk and as he held it firmly in his hand he brought it to the ground and started to draw a transmutation circle. After the circle was created Koffin stepped into the middle of it and placed his left palm on it, suddenly the ground underneath him started to raise high into the air like a piller of sorts. The piller stood a good twenty feet from the ground and upon the piller was Koffin. The crowd suddenly diverted there attention to Koffin and charged towards the piller, their roars got louder and angrier. "Be not angry my friends!" Koffin shouted as a sadistic grin came across his face "I am not one of those that you hate, i am not a state alchemist and i have no intention to do you wrong" the crowd stopped yelling and started to listen to him "See unlike those state alchemists!" the crowd yelled at the mentioning of them "Those PIGS!" Koffin stated and the roar of the crowd grew but not as anger towards Koffin "Unlike the scum of the army, i aim to help you... Those state alchemist help feul this war and they have torn some of your families apart, they have ruined lives!". "Listen i speak as one of your kind.... let me lead you to rebel against the scum of the earth!" The crowd yelled and cheered for Koffin I have them right where i want them Koffin thought to himself. "Now my people if its a war they want! Then its a war they will get!" The mob of towns people turned around and marched towards the place of the alchemist examinations. Then Koffin jumped down from the piller and slid down the side of it landing on his two feet when he hit the ground. Koffin took his chalk and made a transmutation circle on the piller and placed his left palm on it, from that a steel rod as tall as him came forth and he grasped it. Koffin felt the once warm soft breeze turn into a sharp cold chill running down his spine, and once again Koffin smiled and charged with the mob.

After around 10 minutes of non stop walking Stephen realized where he was. He then decided to pick up the pace as he could be surrounded by Alchemists at any moment. he picked up the pace to a jog and as he spun round a corner he was intercepted by to guards carrying guns. a Quick clap and his Right hand turned into a spike which Stephen stabbed through one of their heads.

As Stephen turned to strike the second guard he had a sword thrust at him. Stephen just dodged the attack but it ripped the T-shirt he was wearing, revealing a heavily tattooed left side of torso and left arm, and a fully Auto-mail right arm That had a spike on the end. he pulled the spike from the dead guard and a clap and a grab later his hand had returned to normal. Stephen then grabbed the guards face and slammed him against a wall. he slapped his right wrist with his left hand and then placed his hand on the wall causing stone bindings to grab onto the guard "stay" Stephen announced before exiting the building and heading into Central.

Rein was a General that was going to supervise the Alchemists Evalution. He was sitting in a audience, right at the front. He was more focused on several persons that were attending it. He gave a quick look to the list of alchemists and quickly saw those.

----------1 Hour------------

The gates to the Garden opened. The evaluation was about to begin. Those who were there to be evaluated were now able to enter in them. Rein was still in the same spot. His strange walking stick was infront of him, with his two hands over it. He clapped the stick one time and transmuted the ground near the gate and opened a small path filled with flowers. "Those who will be evaluated, shall now walk it and wait for the remaining ones. The evaluation will begin shortly."

Stephen strode through the streets of Central and saw something going on, and Alchemist had opened a pathway. "wow, i guess the Alchemy Evaluations are going on" He muttered quietly before ignoring what was going on.

Stephen walked until he found an Inn. in which he payed for a room and entered. he lay on the bed and closed his eyes, it would be good to rest on a comfortable bed once more.

Valkyrie walked towards the Evaluation. She thought that the evaluation is a bit of a waste of time, but did not show it. Instead, she walked obediently as asked with the others that had assembled at the centre. Valkyrie stood still while the others mulled about. For some mysterious reason, she had a feeling at the base of her neck. Taking it as the weather, she dismissed it. She wondered if she should wait for the Colonel. Since she did not know many of those that were already there, she hung back, waiting.

"... How rebellious..." Rene muttered as Valkyrie ignored his call to attention completely. He smirked as he quickly caught up with her and patted her gently on the back. "So got any bright ideas for what ya gonna do for your evaluation?" Rene asked, remembering that he hadn't thought of any ideas at all.

OOC: whoops, sorry, forgot about your post

Valkyrie felt a hand tap her back and turned to face the Colonel.

"So got any bright ideas for what ya gonna do for your evaluation?"

Truthfully, she did not have a general idea in what she was going to do. As usual, Valkyrie decided to see what happens first and decide in the last minute.

"...No...It really depends on what the others do...maybe transmutate something big and impressive...What about you Colonel?"

In all honesty Tray was just tired of it. He didn't know what should be done anymore, the militray he had gown to know has changed. There were lies and deceit all revolving around this philospher stone. Now that it was over he felt betrayed. Now that it was coming time for evaluation, he thought he founf his way out. Instead of just quiting and being thought of a traitor, he would let them dimiss him from service. Putting on a tattered uniform he started to make his way down to the exam. Taking one last look around the place he has started to call home, he tried to remember all the good times he had. Finally reaching the feild he took a look around the feild, taking in the views for one last time.
