Define friends though, I mean we can call a friend someone who we share stuff with and trust in. Someone to back you up, when you are pinned. I mean I would love to say internet friends are the end all be all, but if that's the person's only only group, I do have a small bit of prejudice in all honesty.
I can't exactly help it to be honest. It's like this.. you can tell a lot in a person by the friends they choose to keep around. If they don't have people they hang out with, I'm under the assumption that they are either hard to trust, or exceptionally shy.
Trust me, I get along with most anyone, but if one chooses not to have physical friends to hang out with, instead of situational circumstances, that to me, is a bit odd.
I know folks take on new personas often times online because folks can not see your face or hear your voice. Bottom line though.. one day they will need a set of real friends in their real life. I'm not exactly saying "feel sorry for them" I'm just saying.. well, it's good to have a physical shoulder to lean on. A friend to take you out for a drink or even a coffee and just chill. I know I have been on the brink of my envelope where if my bud didn't get me out of the house I would flat lose it. Sometimes a voice at the other end (in this case chat) just doesn't do it.. that's all I'm saying.
