Square Enix has at long last shared final release and pricing info for Final Fantasy XIV.
The company's next MMORPG to follow Final Fantasy IX will officially see Windows release and service-in on September 30. This is a worldwide date.
The game will be offered in standard and Collectors Edition forms. Both are priced "open." The Collectors Edition will arrive early on the 22nd and will let buyers log in from that day.
In addition to the early play start, the Collectors Edition includes a number of bonuses. It ships in a box with images from Yoshitaka Amano on one side and Akihiko Yoshida on the other. It also includes an FFXIV making-of DVD titled "Eorzea: The Making of a Realm", a hard cover picture case that houses the game and making-of DVD, an FFXIV original tumbler, and an FFXIV original design security token.
Buyers of both versions will get exclusive in-game items. The Collectors Edition comes with a code for a helmet that reduces the penalty when you're paralyzed. The standard version includes a code for goggles that increase the speed of your skill growth.
Owners of the first print run of Final Fantasy XIII will be able to input the product code they received with the game to obtain the Ashura Arm Guard item.
As with FFXI, players will incur a monthly charge in order to play. Square Enix will be charging ¥1,344 for 30 days play time. All buyers will get their first 30 days free. See the official site for further pricing details.
This release information concerns just the PC version. The PlayStation 3 version is set for release in early March 2011. Pricing and usage fees for this version will be announced later, Square Enix said.
