Square Enix has dabbled in iPhone development with such titles as Song Summoner and Crystal Defenders. Now it's jumping in full force with the main Final Fantasy series.

The company announced today that it will be porting the first two Final Fantasy games to the iPhone/iPod touch platform. The ports will feature updated visuals, the expected touch controls, and the extra dungeons that were added for previous remakes.

Pricing and release time frame were not announced today.

I should really get around to playing FFI and FFII. But yeah, it should be interesting to see how to the touch screen would effect it.

iPhones don't have styluses, right? Can a person's finger really finesse it's way across a FF world? :gasp:

Damn. This sounds freaking cool. I did check out the other Square Enix creations for the iPhone, and found them rather interesting as well. However, it hurts to see that to use the full version, it's going to cost. I'll probably expect this remake to be the same as well, but nonetheless, I think I'll go buy this one.

The graphics look interesting, and I think I'll be pleased just to have the game in my iPhone, even if I do not play it. :D

Awsome, x]

Second one pwnage!

:ninja::starwars:

nice one :D!

im gonna upload that one i think.
but i lost my cable lol.
so gonne take a look now,

How many more times can they release FFI and FFII? xD This is like...the 5th port of the games, I think. It's a bit ridiculous how stuck on these two games they are.

Still, it looks like it would be fun to play on the iPod touch...although I can see it getting very annoying :hmmm:

Oh so is it on ipod touch alson if so that would be fun althouh Im not rreally a fan of some ames on the ipod cause some tend to get really annoying. But then again do we have to use the touch screen to attack or something? To move? Man that would be annoying.

FFI and FFII re-released........again?! PSone, then GBA, then PSP, then Japanese Virtual Console and now on iPhone? Good grief. Who still hasn't played these two games yet? I'm also not sure how practical the touch screen mechanics will be as well. In battles it will be simple, but using a finger to move your character around towns, dungeons and the world map sounds rather awkward.

Then again, I wouldn't mind having two full FF games on my (currently nonexistent) iPhone if I hadn't already bought the earlier releases.

This sounds awesome. Now fans with an I-Phone can play the game. I dont have one, but the idea of putting the games on the I-Phone sounds like epic win :awesome:

The graphics look great, too :O

Why must it be the iPhone? :( We hate that piece of crap phone.

However, it is nice to see the series branching out, and hopefully it will show everyone how awesome the original games are. :D (Then that way they can go back to making good FF games. -__-)

:gasp:
I have an iphone so, i'll go check it out ^^ and maybe get it so that I can play :) Although i'll need to adjust to the whole fact that you have to use the touch screen but, i'll get use to it and it'll be all good and i'll just be into the game instead of getting annoyed >.> and yeah the graphics look pretty good too :]

I think it was coming, I just didn't expect any FF games to be part of the main series. They've been expanding their games to phones and the odd one to the iPhone for a while now, it's probably a case of of "low cost-high profit". I might consider getting it when I get mine :ryan:

FF1+2 release number four million, eh? Re-using the PSP version's graphics, I see, which is actually pretty cool because I would have thought the iPhone would only be powerful enough to run its PS1/GBA graphics. Of course, my not owning an iPhone means this may be the first version of FFI I DON'T end up owning.
