Who was your favourite Eidolon? Putting into consideration appearance, power, gestalt, etc.

Mine is Odin, the falling petals and his transformation into Sleipnir is so beautiful, even his fighting form is awesome.
My runner-ups would be Bahamut, simply for his incredible strength (I found him the most useful Eidolon) and then Brunhildr: loved her appearance and she is really strong. Her gestalt is rather lame imo though, but maybe that's because I'm not really into cars..

EDIT: Add in your least favorite as well. Mine was Hecaton. Slow and crappy fighting form, near useless gestalt. Plus there's Vanille adding in her sex noises..

Mines Alexander, it looks so powerful and cool and I really like that it transforms into a massive fortress so it's different from other ones.

The classic Bahamut for me. His astetics are largely the reason; he just looks so cool, and I love his colour scheme. Being the only real flying Eidolon also gets extra points in my book.

Odin was a definite favorite, but ultimately, Hectaconheir takes the cake.

Why?

Because the Hectaconheir is actually my FAVORITE monster from all mythology (in this case it's a Titan from Greek mythology). As far as I know, it's the only and first Greek mythological figure to feature in an FF. Also, the monster concept is just so awesome: A giant creature with 100 arms and 100 legs and 50 heads and 1 body.

:woot: SO FRICKIN' COOL! I love how they implemented it as well, and the gestalt mode is actually badass. It's the only Eidolon besides Bahamut that can net you the Limit Breaker trophy by dealing more than 100,000 damage in one hit.

Hectacon was awesome. I hope it appears in future FFs.

How do you use Hecaton effectively? Because I have not received good results when using him, hence him being listed as my least favorite...

Artemisia: Well, since he's paired with Vanille, you best have her on Ravager or Saboteur, since those she best roles. Her debuffs are excellent for wracking up the damage with Hectacon since he's really a beast and keeps on attacking. Odin may just guard for a while, but Hectacon tends to really rip monsters a new one. As always, just let him wrack up the damage and hit the square button at the last second to have a nice long ride in the Gestalt Mode afterward. His final attack (triangle) is incredibly powerful, easily dealing over 100,000 damage, especially if the monster has some debuffs on it. I actually killed a Behemoth King in one shot with that final blow.

But I agree with you... Vanille's sex noises were rather.... annoying.

Dragon Mage, the only drawback to that strategy is you lose time having to heal yourself, as Hecaton is the only eidolon who can't heal! That's what annoyed me the most (apart from the sex noises). I found him most effective against single enemies. If I summoned him against a group they'd all just attack Vanille and she'd fall. That's what put me off using him, as I generally used eidolons against large groups of enemies.

Hecaton was my favorite eidolon.

He was always my pick to start taking down adamantoises when my crystarium still wasn't maxed out and when I didn't have my character's ultimate weapons. Like I read above, I only used him in certain situations though. When I would run into a bunch of enemies and my ATB gauge was full enough I would use him against large groups of annoying enemies. He was one of the better eidolons in my opinion because he pretty much attacked almost constantly. I know some of the other eidolons took breaks from attacking to guard or whatever, but doing that is really a waste because it wastes attacking time.

His design was my favorite of all of them...asides from the way Vanille rode him :damon: I liked all of his hands and his gestalt mode. I thought it was really original. I hope we see him again in some upcoming games.

*high-fives Stella*

Artemisia: Really? That's odd. Odin never healed Lightning so that's strange what you're talking about there. Eidolons tend to draw aggro of all the enemies, I've seldom had an enemy attack the character before turning to the eidolon, and never more than once. If I ever needed healing, I'd just switch to a medic paradigm and heal myself. Vanille is one of the best medics in the game.

i like odin the most as a fighter won't say why.

vanilles summon is second for the fan service, gosh the earthquake attacks are swell.

My Favorite one would have to be Bahamut simply because its been my favorite summon in the entire series. But in this one not only does it look cool but even before activating gesalt mode the AI on it does really good at doing damage in my book.
