'ello fellow FF-fans! I am Chanteru a.k.a. Chant or Chan. :3 :moogle:
I'm just a college student living in NY who enjoys playing:
- RPGs (FF_, Tales of ___, Persona, etc.)
- detective-like games (Ace Attorney series, 999, Hotel Dusk: Room 215, etc.), and
- music games (DDR, PIU, Taiko Drum Master, etc).
I sort of stumbled upon this forum, but I'm glad that I found what appears to be an active community of FF-fans, so yay~

I fell in love with the Final Fantasy series when I first played FFVII as a child (similar to most fans it seems).
I remember being a major Cloud fangirl & writing his name all over my notebooks - depressing, I know.
I'm still somewhat of a Cloud fangirl, but don't hold that against me... xD;

Anyhow, I've played most of the titles released post-FFVII & here are a few things I've noted. (It'd be interesting to know if anyone agrees/disagrees with me though! ... or if anyone cares at all. :alone:)

 ::FF RANT ALERT::

FFVII: Crisis Core
- great handheld RPG! it felt more like a KH game though...
- I enjoyed the storyline & seeing young Cloud<3 the ending is so sad... ;_;
FFVIII
- mehh, Squall is clearly more emo than Cloud!
- I never liked the battle system or the idea of calling summons "Guardian Forces"...
FFIX
- a truly underrated game<3
- wonderful storyline & character development; I love how each character had their own theme & plot
FFX
- love the voice acting, especially since it was the first FF game to incorporate voices!
- the storyline is actually pretty deep and somewhat religious
- lame final boss >_>;
FFX-2
- this game is bashed more than necessary x__x
- the dress sphere battle system was pretty fun!
- pretty nostalgic for those who played FFX.
FFXI
- one of the best MMORPGs I have ever played~ I devoted many MANY hours to this game & met some awesome players along the way! ^^
- it sucks that the population of players has diminished... ;__;
FFXII
- ...veeeery similar to FFXI. o_o;
- nice graphic-wise and the Gambit battle system was so-so
- HORRIBLE voice acting. I mean jeez, low quality anyone??
FFXIII
- great battle system. it's a bit strategy > stats, which is a nice change...
- epic graphics & interesting characters<3
- the story was a bit too "involved" imo... -__-
FFXIII-2
- currently playing & it's pretty great so far!
- interesting storyline with the whole time-traveling stuff
- my new FF-crush: Noel~<3

I've got to agree that FF9 is definitely underrated. While Vivi is my favourite character, I like almost all of them (apart from Amarant who feels tacked on). A certain Brahne part was so sad, especially with the following wreath laying scene in Alexandria as soon as they return.

Also, you should try FF7. It may be a little over-hyped, but it's still a great game with lots of twists and interesting story events. Heck, the customisation with the materia (magic) is possibly the most interesting of all the games.

I agree - Amarant didn't blend very well with the group's chemistry (well, neither did Quina, but she wasn't all too important anyhow xD). I felt like most of the characters had an interesting dynamic throughout the game's dialogue, but Amarant didn't really contribute much, being the oddball loner that he was. In any case, I'm glad that you enjoyed FF9 as much as I did! ^__^

I've played FF7 before, and I agree that it has a great storyline, especially after a certain someone's death, and the part where Cloud and Tifa were in the lifestream added to their character development/background. But after replaying the game a few months ago, I felt that it wasn't as great as I initially thought it was. Maybe I'm just being too picky or maybe all of the FF7-haters are getting to me, I don't know! xD

(her accent annoyed the heck out of me at first, but it grew on me~ xD)
