Is there any way to boost it? Everytime i play this game Selphie always end up so terribly fail at successfully drawing spells, while Squall and my second party member (usually Zell or, Rinoa pr Quistis) have no trouble at all, although they do draw less quantity of said spell.

I dunno about success rate but having a high SPR stat it lets you draw more spells at a time. Goes up to 9 at a time I think.

I remember being able to draw 13 at once for memory, but that's as high as it's been for me. Lol

I misunderstood when you said "9 at a time".

You can draw more than 9 from draw points (up to 15 I think?) but during battle you can only get up to 9 of any particular magic per draw.

Now there's a complicated formula for calculating how draws work in battle but for the tl;dr version; if you boost up your Magic stat, you'll have more success at drawing.

Increasing your luck stat would also help I should think. I find it's easier to spread the magic out, so that all characters can draw magic, so no character has 100 unless everyone has 100 of that magic.

The draw rate also depends on the spell that you're drawing. If you're drawing from an Ultima point, let's say, you shouldn't expect more than a few Ultimas. However, drawing the maximum number of basic spells (Fire, Blizzard, etc) is much more likely.

I was never sure about a relationship between any stat and the draw rate, but I suppose that makes sense. It certainly explains why I could never draw anything early in the game. :wacky:

Spirit and Luck will help with the draw rate, and also what Ness said. Granted, refining spells from items and Triple Triad cards tends to be a lot less time consuming, so make sure you teach your GFs those abilities asap.

I had more HP than Edea at the end of disc 1 because I junctioned the spells from refining Brother's Triple Triad cards. xD

Yes I seem to remember that by having a high SPR stat gives you the chance to draw more of the spell, while the MAG stat was your odd of getting the spell in battle I think. I think luck only affected critical hits in batle not to sure with that stat.

Your Spirit has nothing to do with your Draw Rate. Also, your level dictates what kind of magic is available for drawing from an enemy, not your magic stat.

Ness is correct about higher magic being slightly more difficult to draw though because in the equation for drawing magic:

Draw Amount = (Drawer Level - Target Level) / 2 + 4
F(Draw Amount) = (Draw Amount + Drawer Mag - Draw Resist + [1< x <32]) / 5

The Final number is your draw amount:
If Draw Amount < 1, Draw command fails
If Draw Amount > 9, Draw Amount = 9

Each set of magic spells has a different resist value to use in the second equation. In the case of Ultima, Draw Resist is replaced with a 44(the highest resistance value). Magic like Fire, Thunder, and Blizzard have a resist value of 0(the lowest).

You magic stat will determine how much magic you will draw from enemies (a maximum of nine). Spr has nothing to do with draw rates. Luck will effect how often a character critically hits not their draw rate.

Your magic stat however will not effect your drawing capabilities from draw points. Draw points are not linked to any stats they are affected by step counts (X number of steps fills a draw point to it's max).
