Disney CEO investor call suggests Kingdom Hearts 3 may hit Wii

Disney CEO Bob Iger has made comments on Disney's approach to video game production that could indicate what direction the Kingdom Hearts series will take in the future.

Iger was asked about the videogame market during an investor call, and responded that the company would produce fewer titles for 'high end' systems but suggested that the company would be publishing titles based on their newly-acquired Marvel franchises in the future.

Iger told investors that "Disney-branded games seem to perform better on the Wii and DS platforms," while Marvel titles performed well on the HD consoles.

Iger's comments will be seen by some as another indication that the Kingdom Hearts series is likely to end up on the Wii rather than the Playstation 3. While Square Enix develop the game the final say on all-things Kingdom Hearts lie with Disney.

I'd sure hope not. Where do you think KHI and II are? The PS2. It would only make sense to produce the third installment on a "base" console. The spinoffs were always on Nintendo consoles.

In all honesty, I'd be extremely disappointed to see them start development on the Wii.
 
I don't think they'll design it for the Wii, I think the attraction is there for people to use the Wiimotes as keyblades but it's flawed given that Kingdom Hearts is generally a lot of button mashing and people couldn't do that on a Wii. Plus with Square Enix having the final say it's most likely going to end up on the PS3 given that it'll be up to Nomura :ryan:
 
I sure hope they don't put it on the Wii. As Asabella said, Nintendo should only have Kingdom Hearts spin offs. Kingdom Hearts has been impressive in terms of graphics (As far as cartoon-y graphics go I guess :wacky:)

It just won't be the same though, I honestly feel they should stick with their base console for this. I can't imagine mindless wii remote swinging will do one's furniture, walls, or health any good anyway :hmmm:
 
As long as it's on both the Wii and PS3 it wouldn't be too bad I suppose. But just the Wii is a stupid move. What console do they think most KH fans bought, considering it was on the PS2?

Not too logical if you ask me.
 
It's smart in a way. They know fans will want to play the game and therefore also buy the console in order to do so.

But at the same time it isn't fair. Not everyone has the money to fork out for a console just to play one game. >.< I know I sure don't. I have better things to spend my money on then a console every year.

Though this doesn't seem like it will go to the Wii thankfully. Just the thought of it annoyed me though.
 
Oh noes and damn this will suck. I would like to see Kingdom Hearts III on like the ps3 or 360. I think its best. Its gonna be bad if its on the WII and Im not even gonna bother buying it. I just hope if they do it for Wii they put good characters and all that and dont make the gameplay dissapointing >_>
 
I'm guessing Disney might be more involved with the Wii since their next big game "Epic Mickey" is coming out for that console.

I personally wouldn't mind multi-platform KH3, but it damn well better come on the PS3 -__-

I think one of FFF's fine news reporters have mentioned that Nomura, creative genius behind Kingdom Hearts, prefers the PS3 system anyways, so I don't think I need to worry then :hmmm:
 
Having it on the wii just because of Sora and his keyblade being able to swing an' whatnot seems pretty pointless to me. I mean, that's the main reason people would like to see it on the wii no?
I much rather it be on the PS3 and would be pretty pissed if it wasn't :rage: It's only logical to have it on the PS3 because the past KH games where on the PS2.
If their gunna do that, least have it on the PS3 or imma protest :ness:
 
I think I'd actually consider buying it if it were on the Wii. The Wii really suffers from mediocre third-party underdeveloped crap, and asides from Nintendo's own series it doesn't get any of the big sellers at all. It gets lesser versions of them - sequels, spinoffs, none of them as good as the mainstream games. Whilst I'm not a Kingdom Hearts fan, I think it could work out rather well on the Wii, because they'd be sure to design it properly.
 
I'm a bit torn about this actually. There's one half of me saying: Wow, yes - that will be great! More decent third party support for a console dominated by casual games such as Carnival Games! The other half seems to say that it could be a bad thing being on the Wii.

I would prefer to see KHIII on the PS3 actually. The PS3 needs some good quality exclusives. Plus it makes sense to have it on the PS3 since the series originated under Sony's machines. I would prefer to play it with a PS3 controller than the Wiimote (however it will be used). People say having it on the Wii may be good because of the motion control, but to me it sounds awfully impractical to be waving your arms around so quickly.

But I can see why though if the Wii is considered. Developing on the Wii is less work and less expensive. There may be more Wii owners than PS3 owners, but most of the Wii's owners may not be the right audience.
 
The Wii uses DVDs, right? Than by that logic, one could argue they could just release KH3 on the PS2 then O.O

No, the Wii uses special discs known simply as the Wii Optical Disc or something like that. Nintendo had these different special discs made just for their Gamecube and Wii consoles for some reason.

But I guess you're right - if it can be on the Wii, it can easily be on PS2. However, they won't bother because the PS2 has arguably hit the end of its console life.
