While I am looking forward to this game, I'm wondering how it will be affected by the cutting of employees over at EA. From what I heard they were about to cancel Dante's Inferno and quite a bit of other projects because of the mass firings.

I'm hesitant to say if this will be as good as the first one. I honestly liked the CGI movie better than the 1st game, due to how heavy it explained what was going on. Also I didn't like how the plasma cutter was the best gun when fully upgraded it seemed. I never switched guns..

So here's to the 2nd one hopefully they make some major improvements!

I probably won't get it, Dead Space was a very good game as far as I'm aware but I never really got into that much because I'm not fan of that genre. I think it will be difficult to keep the standard Dead Space set though (based on reviews) since it seemed a solid game :hmmm:

Time to shit mysefl again lol. Even the anime had me crapping my pants!! This is a must have defo. Hope you play as Issac, I liked him as a lead character even though he said bugger all rofl.

I played the demo for Dead Space and eventually the game, I didn't really feel the horror of the game and that somewhat turned me off away from the game because I felt it gave off a Resident Evil 4 feeling. I hopefully part 2 it can correct this....

I love Dead Space. They did say they're going to focus no the action more this time. So it's going to be "action horror" rather than "Survival horror"

I first dismissed Dead Space, but later on I gave it a try given it received rave reviews. I really liked it. It gave me a number of jolts.
Now that the sequel is now due early next year, I am really looking forward to it, and will pre-order a 'collectors edition' or whatever it's called when that it announced. I will presume given that the 1st one was an excellent game and also due to 'word of mouth', this one will be on more people's 'radar'.

I'm a HUGE fan of the first, but to be quite honest...am I the only one turned off by the thought of the survival type being taken away? :sad3:

I mean, don't get me wrong, action is cool and all, but I liked Dead Space for what it was. Turning it into an action game feels really....wrong? I hope it doesn't turn into another Resident Evil 5. (not that there is anything wrong with RE5 xD)

(This is post #200) :awesome:

Retesting.. making sure windows 7 or IE 8 doesn't have a problem with posting vids.

Bah, it is. thanks for posting that Nick. That's the vid that makes me look forward to this game.

Here's my problem:

Dead Space 2's controversial multiplayer mode will 'surprise and excite' the community haters concerned that it's addition will water down the solo experience. That's according to executive producer, Steve Papoutsis, who told our colleagues at Edge that developer Visceral understands that it needs to put out an "extremely high quality" follow-up.

"I think that until people see what we're doing with the multiplayer there's always going to be speculation and we encourage that," he said. "It's exciting for us that people care about what we're doing and in the months to come when we start talking more about what we're doing with multiplayer I think people are going to be excited, and some of those people who are maybe concerned that we're doing something weird or watering down the singleplayer experience to create the multiplayer are going to be surprised, and pleasantly so."

Papoutsis is keen to emphasise that Visceral is "not putting that [multiplayer] component in the singleplayer game," and it's focused on making the solo experience "as good as it can possibly be." He said: "We actually have the luxury of having another team that's working with us [on multiplayer]. We've taken people that made the original Dead Space and given them the goal of making a very compelling and uniquely Dead Space multiplayer game.

"Those guys sit with us, work with us, and they understand how important it is to make sure that whatever we do on the franchise is extremely high quality and is extremely seated in the Dead Space universe." Dead Space 2 is due for release between January and March 2011. It was confirmed this week that the game will be also making its way to PC.

Hope this helps!

Since the setting of this game is a city, I wonder if they're going to borrow elements from Bioshock? Since it's Visceral Games I wouldn't be surprised if they did that. What with the obvious "influences" of Doom/Alien in Dead Space and God Of War and Ninja Gaiden in Dante's Inferno.

alright I ordered it from a local store via the web, status: reserved..
out=out this game is hard to get it seems... its 15 euros though, nice and cheap :D

I hope it arrives tomorrow.

So I didn't see any topics in this section dedicated to this sequel; I figured I'd go ahead and post this. Basically this is more for informative purposes than anything else. So the kind folks at Visceral Games have decided to start working vigorously on a sequel. Yay. Isaac isn't dead, there's new locations to explore, and our hero hasn't escaped unscathed.

So far it's got concept art, a trailer, you know, the works.

And because I'm so kind, here's a little excerpt from the folks at IGN that previewed the game.

Issac needs all the help he can get this time around, too, as the new enemy types are downright intimidating. On top of the standard Necromorphs that run straight at him, Isaac now has to deal with new enemies like the Puker and The Pack. The Puker is a ranged enemy who can stun you, allowing other enemies a chance to get in close. Even more intense than the Puker, though, is The Pack, a hoard of mutated children who swarm you. Granted, The Pack appeared pretty easy to take down in the demo, but they seem like another way developer Visceral Games is trying to create a variety of situations that dramatically alter the pacing.

Not that the combat and frightening moments boil down to just fighting a few tough enemies or a swarm of weak ones; big, cinematic sequences return for Dead Space 2. At several points during the E3 demo I watched as Isaac was attacked by gigantic enemies. Often these sequences turned into a sort of interactive in-game cut scene, with sequences where the game would take over and show Issac crawling or running for his life, only to then switch control back to the player for a few, nerve wracking seconds. For instance at one point Issac was being chased down a hallway by a giant monster, and it came down to the player to shoot the soft spots on the enemy at just the right second so that Isaac could crawl away to safety. Sure, you could complain about having movement controls taken away, but the way the camera was changing really added to the game's drama, and simply wouldn't be possible if the player was in control.

My thoughts? It's a nice step in a creative direction for these guys. They have some new variations on the Necromorphs--a Monk Slasher and a Puker amongst some of them. Some more attacks for Isaac oh and did I mention that he comes out with some . . . issues? And it sounds like they're bringing back that seamless cinematic sequence element from the first game--where Isaac would be pinned down by an enemy for a few minutes and the game would swing it back to you, the player. Except this time it's improved.

So is anyone excited for this? Are any of you guys planning to stay tuned for updates and all that jazz? Leave your comments here and stuff. ^_^
