I like how they decided to make a game out of the divine comedy by the poet dante alighieri. Too GoWish for me though, i might just rent it anyway.

Here's the trailer for it

This looks absolutely messed-up, freaky, gory and just outright awesome. I can't wait for it; it gets better and better the further you go down. I've always like Dante's Divine Comedy, its going to be interesting to see how they interpret it.
From the Developer Diaries on the official site, it looks like you're going to get a choice to forgive people their sins or punish them further. I know which one I'll be going with. Ahahaha.
The anime should be good as well.
Another God of War beater? Could be. At the moment, this is one of my most anticipated games, just behind Star Ocean 4 International and BioShock 2.
...plus the slogan is priceless. "Go to Hell", indeed. XD

I never read Dante's Inferno, but I've always wanted to. I might decide to now.

But I think making a game of it is an excellent idea, and it looks pretty awesome so far. I'll definately keep my eyes open for news of this.

I've studied the poems :ryan: All being said, whilst it looks a good game I have the GoW and GoWII remakes to play at Xmas then GoWIII to play when it comes out so I'll probably give a miss solely because it looks like those those a bit too much D:

I heard something about some people from the GoW team were helping to create the game, don't take my word for it though. I haven't found evidence to know if it's true or not. I'm looking around at the moment, as soon as i find something i'll re-edit this post.

It Looks good..
BUT
it looks like every other GoW/DMC game.
So it doesnt really appeal to me!

THe battle style looks the same, the story looks the same (going to hell and whatnot)

It just hasnt sold itself to me....

To be honest, its a no go for me. Theres only so much blood, gore and sex I can put up with in a game. if I wanted that in a night Id go and hang out at our local park rofl. Never read the poem myself, but it is not for me. Just too much.

This game looks like it's going to be a good game. I have to play the demo or rent it to try it out first before buying it. I hope it comes as good as God of War series.

Creating a game based on late medieval/early Renaissance period poems? That sounds rather new.

However this doesn't seem to appeal to me. Whether or not it is as good as God of War we'll have to see.

There's also the catch that I'm probably a little bit too young :ryan:

Dante's Inferno! The audacity! First off, it is sacriligous to the divine comedy itself! I mean whats next, Romeo and Juliet the game? Games based off of books are perhaps the stupidest concept I have ever heard.

Now, what really brings my piss to a boil, is the similarity of this game(Dante's Inferno) to the God of War franchise. No, similarity is not the correct word at all, it is safe to say that Dante's Inferno is a complete RIP-OFF of the God of War series. Everything, from the battle style, to the "orbs", the health replenishing stations, the controls for god's sake! And the developers even have the audacity of copying the fight with the cyclops in God of War. A small guy on top of a big creature you get to ride? Sounds awfully familiar. You even get the weapons from the bosses once you beat them.

Now, some of you may be thinking, M'aiq, your crazy, you dont know what your talking about. If you have ever played a GOW game and end up playing the Dante's Inferno Demo, you will notice everything I have mentioned and then some.

I am no "fanboy" of god of war, but I know an injustice when I see one. The developers should get sued or something.....

umm....wow
So anyway I was happy when I heard the game was coming out, then a little apprehensive.

I mean of all that movie ideas, book idea and so on to make a game out of they choose Dante's Inferno?!?
I never remember once thinking, while reading that book 'this would make a good game' I can understand why so many people would want this too be a game, but I just can't see it even vaguely resembling inferno, in any way, shape or form. I need to play the demo just to see what it's going to be like.

If anything that M'aiq said is true then I would like to also add... WTF!!! Why clone GOW to make this game? There could have been something special to this game. It could have had a dark edge that didn't require swords or guns or anything like that at all. Is it actually supposed to be the real book? or something else? I don't know, this game seems to be one of those, building you up to knock you down kind of things.

It's passable, I've played the demo on US PSN and it's good what with it's beautiful CGI scenes and easy to learn attacks, but there isn't enough variety even though it's similar to God of War, throughout most of the story in this game however you're stuck in hell with flashbacks occuring at certain points.

I prefer more of an open world, but if you like FF13 and are into the gory bits, this is somewhat similar in terms of gameplay style, except of course this is an RTS game.

Although, if you do own a PS3, I suggest you get it as you'll get tons of freebies to go along with it just so that you'd like it as much as God of War. However, Bayonetta takes the crown on an off-topic note.

I played the demo on xbox, and let me say from a big fan of the book itself, I'm a bit surprised at how different this is. A bad different I mean. I loved the book, LOVVVVEED it, but I just don't see how this (except for virgil) has anything to do with the book yet.

I would assume they are trying to make this game the most "OUT THERE" game there is, because even in the demo they threw fully unclothed women in the game. I mean I am wondering what audience they are aiming for or if they are trying to make this game controversial appealing to the masses.

I just hope the game itself doesn't take away from the book altogether. So far though the game play is top notch. It feels like god of war all of over again.
