What are your thoughts on it? Dance, Electro, Trance, House, Techno....I dunno it all sounds like the same old shit to me, I personally can't stand the stuff. There are a few dance songs which I think are alright, but as a whole I think dance music is shit. But hey that's just me, what are your thoughts on it?

It's pointless lumping so many disparate musical acts under the umbrella of 'dance music' and then saying they all sound crap. Daft Punk, LCD Soundsystem, The Knife, Aphex Twin, Ladytron, Basement Jaxx - all great acts but they all sound different to one another. So yeah there's plenty of good stuff there but as usual labelling acts with a genre is pointless in my opinion.

It really doesnt matter to me weather I listen to Techno, Hardstyle, Rave, Electro, Drum N Bass, ect. As long as i can do my liquid to it, Im set.

As to if i like it or not, I enjoy very much. No other music comes relatively close to the sounds you can hear while messin up the floor with some friends after a good night. Hell, thats what we do sometimes at Taco's, We'll chat with people, have some beers, some Jesus Juice. Maybe some illegal substances, then once that music comes on, You'll see 5 people atleast just doing there thing.

I actually don't mind 'dance' style music. Armin van Buuren is pretty not bad and Basshunter is cool. I absolutely love Hardstyle music though (woot go 'Cotton Eye Joe' by The Rednex!), like the Alpha Twins (their tetris remix kicks ass.

Occasionally I like drum 'n' bass, but I've gone off that lately by the overplaying of Pendulum, who have killed a decent genre I think.
Daft Punk were pretty legendary in their day, definitely one of the better bands of the 90s/early 00's. Other than that, I'm no fan of dance, techno, electro etc.

I do like some i have to admit. Bands like faithless and underworld i love, but i put them in a league of their own when compared with other dance/techno acts. Faithless especially, their lyrics are just amazing. I also like pendulum aswell, though like pooley said theyre Drum and base. Im always gunna be a rock n roll guy but i have my exceptions.

I think it all sounds the same....and I think it all sounds rubbish. And I can happily say it's all the same, because hardcore fans of dance music would say the same about grunge, death metal, heavy metal, and so on. I don't appreciate dance music so much as to identify key themes and differences within it. It's the same for any music I don't like. And I dare say that's the case with most people.

There are a handful of songs that can draw my attention though. But that's because they remind me of somebody once very close to me. But other than that, there's only a handful more that I can tolerate.

But at the end of the day, I just suppose that I prefer music and songs with more meaning. I can see beauty in the squeal of a guitar and I can fall in love with meaningful lyrics. But dance music is music for....dancing. And that's something I don't do.

So meh. Dance music just isn't for meeeee.

No, idiots would say that about grunge, heavy metal etc. You don't have to like a form of music, but to say 'it all sounds the same' as your reasoning is just nonsense.

I disagree. I honestly can't tell the difference between many types of 'dance' music. And it really wouldn't matter how much I listen to. It does actually sound the same to me. And yes...a lot of people that I know who listen to it tell me that all the music I listen to sounds the same.

If people don't like it, they don't listen to it. They don't listen to it, they won't distinguish between the different genres in question. And as such, it's all dance music. XD

But anywho. I used to listen to a much wider variety in music. As a youngster, I pretty much liked everything. Now that I'm a bit more grown up, dance music does virtually nothing for me and I'm a rock and metal sorta guy. There are one or two dance songs I know of that make heavy use of electric guitars, which is pretty funky. But that's my limit I think. Dancing isn't natural lmfao

Dance music is on of the most annoying types of music i know of. All of it sounds the same with all of the bass and beats. If your out in a club or something it can be good to get everyone in the mood for some dancing but at home it isn't good.

I actually like all types of music aside from country and the really heavy death metal genres.

Dance, Electro, Trance, House, Techno
are the most common I listen to and it doesn't matter where or when I'm listening to it I always get an adrenaline rush and do a little dance. XD

It just gets the blood pumping and wakes me up, especially when I'm driving to work in the mornings. Who needs coffee. XD

Most times I can't really tell the difference in genre's unless I look it up. However, most of the time I don't care either. As long as it sounds good I'll listen to it.

So my opinion on the matter is that I love it and I give it a 10/10!

I'm not that much of a dance music person. Most of the ravey stuff just goes right through me, it just doesn't appeal. And people are always saying that when you're out it's great to dance to and stuff but it doesn't make me want to dance at all, I don't see how you CAN dance to it, I'd rather dance to my washing machine. <_<

There are the odd songs I like though if it stands out to me for whatever reason. Some of Katy Perry's songs are quite catchy but I hate how overplayed chart music is. -_- There's probably some more but none is springing to mind... The Nouvelle Vague CDs are in the 'Dance' section in HMV but they don't really seem very dance-ish, it's more like bossa nova.

I try to stay clear of labelling things in genres as it gets messy and confusing with the best bands that just try to have their own distinct sound than trying to sound like a specific genre...

But electronic music that I do like tends to be non-dancey music and follows the styles and general structure that rock follows anyway.

That said I am a huge fan of some EBM which I guess can count as dancey music... By that I really don't know what defines it but I mean bands like Covenant, Icon of Coil, Deviant UK and Absurd Minds. If that isn't EBM, than again I repeat that I don't follow genres strictly and basically I haven't a fragging clue what makes up all these crazy genre names and I just listen to it as music.

What I don't like is a lot of the dance music you hear in clubs (goddam clubs!) and pubs and pretty much everywhere you go. I'm not a fan of chipmunk music and I really don't like a lot of the stuff that gets played now.

I liked discotheques, clubs, rave partys until 2013. Nowadays i am inactive as being 50 this year lol..
I liked radio music in former decades, starting in the 80s. Now i just feel too old for partys lol.
