My mum was telling me about her friends daughter who's getting married in 3 years.

The dress is bought, the venue booked - some castle in scotland. The dates all set etc. I was like, oh that's nice, 3 years is abit far off though innit?

Oh no she says. You haven't heard the best part yet

It's all booked, but she's missing the most vital part

SHE'S NOT MET THE MAN YET!

How utterly fucking insane is that. WHY would ANYONE have it all booked and paid for if they were still single. Imagine meeting a man and saying on the 2nd date, oh btw, the weddings all booked. It'd send any sane person running for the hills

Not only that, what if some man she DOES get, doesn't WANT to get married off in Scotland, or want the theme shes chose, or doesnt like the food etc? The dates might clash with other dates....etc etc....

Though she'd be lucky to get to details after telling some dude she's met that she's already booked her wedding...

Mental

Has anyone known of anyone male or female do this before? What are your thoughts on it? What would you think if you got with someone and they dropped THAT bombshell on you?

Seems like something out of those romantic comedies. It won't end well if those movies are anything to go by. Wait, scratch that, it'll somehow work out. But yeah, it is insane. Not to mention booking a castle is extremely expensive along with food and the like. She should have waited till she was engaged.

Thats totally insane. Throwing away all your money for a marraige that isnt happening.. . and in Scotland aswell, even if she does find a man whol marry her its just gunna rain on her.
If the girl i was dating dropped this on me chances are i would not be seeing her again, it comes across quite crazy. Some people are in too much of a rush, they want everything straight away. The spouse the kids the nice house with a dog and a cat but they dont look at it logically. Give it due time.

That is bizzare. Indeed, why throw the money away?? Shes going to go and look for a man she wont really love just to get him down the aisle. How completely and utter mental!

What on earth?

Me and Steve have lived together for about nearly 3 years now and we're no where close to getting married.

How can she just assume that some guy is going to want to marry her ASAP!

What if she doesn't meet someone until a few months before the wedding?

There is going to be pressure and she'll scare him off!

What if she gets fat or loses weight? Who the hell buys a dress three years before they're going to wear it?

What if the guy is religious and wants to get married in a church, or what if he just doesn't want to do it right away or at all!

This girl is seriously, seriously stupid.

People need time to get to know another before they commit to things such as marriage. Rushing into it just because it's already booked is the dumbest excuse ever! :gasp:

I get sick of girls who only have marriage on the mind and think that they have to get married six months after being with a guy and automatically expect a proposal. <_<

Wait, so if she doesn't get married she won't get her money back? And what if she gains or loses a lot of weight in the next three years / by the time she's going to use the dress? Then that's just more money spent fixing it O__O

I had heard that there are some people who book everything months, even years, in advance because of huge waiting lists and everything, but I always thought that was just in the movies. xD

maybe its rearanged? some religion has tht? sometimes its their own cousins?
I think its a sexy idea, its mysterious this way , oh lala

Lol, psychoooo.

Anyway, as stupid and insane as I think that is, it's her business. Perhaps she's determined to find a man and make him fall in love with her in less than 3 years. She may get lucky, she may not. Either way, she'll find out in 3 years if it's gonna work.

That has to be the most ridiculous and outrageous thing I've heard all month.

The SECOND date and making wedding plans already? If it were me, I would indeed be running up the hills and never even come back! I thought there were a lot of strange people in the world, but apparently I was wrong since I've found stranger ones. :gasp:
