Do you enjoy cooking?

I had always been resistant to learning how to cook. I thought it would take up too much time and just be a pain. But after eating some of my friends food, wanting more later that week, and asking for the recipe, I have a strange new love for cooking. Over the past few weeks I have made so many new meals. Strangly enough, I find both cooking and baking to be very relaxing. I also find that I have much more energy if I make my own meals rather than just eating at a resturaunt.

So I love cooking now XD Maybe I missed my calling to be a chef.

Ooh and feel free to share any cool recipes.

I love to cook, the problem is that I can't. I mess up things even as simple as flapjack - although the last time wasn't my fault, because the scales stopped working halfway through my measuring out the oats.

I'm always extremely worried I'm going to burn down the house, and I absolutely will not eat anything I've made myself, because only having myself to blame if I poisoned myself would take all the fun out of complaining about it. I can just about manage to put stuff in the oven, turn the oven on, and turn it off and take it out again. Just about.

I love cooking, I dont do it often though, and Im not confident cooking meat, Im convinced Im going to undercook it and kill myself haha

Its also shite cooking just for one person :hmph:

I do enjoy it when i do it though, it makes the place smell great. Love baking as well. Made a ginger cake the weekend and it was ace :ryan:

I love cooking. =)

Honestly though, I used to hate it a few years back.

Just the last year or so I've been over at my mates and she has been cooking me the best meals and that's what got me into it.

I love making cakes, and all sorts of new yummy dinners.

The only problem is, I don't get enough time during the week to make anything out of the ordinary due to work. It's mostly just spaghetti bolognese or mince chow mein or something quick.

It is enjoyable when I get the chance though. =)

I like cooking. I am still learning how to cook from my mom. I learned a lot from her. We cook a lot of Romanian foods which are really good. I can not wait until I become a Chef. I always wanted to be a chef even when I was a kid. Not only is my mom teaching me some cooking tips, but she is teaching my how to bake too. One time like 2 or 3 years ago my mom let me make my own birthday cake (it's a family recipe)

I love baking, I'm not quite as good at cooking but I am trying to learn. So far most of the things I've tried making--manicotti, fettucine alfredo, taco salad, etc.--have come out really tasty, but the problem is I have different taste in spices than my husband, so it's hard for us to agree on how much to put in if I'm trying to learn a recipe from him XD He's a really good cook so I try to take his advice on new dishes, but when I'm making something myself I don't like using too many spices, because it drowns out the individual flavors sometimes. I feel kind of obstinate sometimes when I do that :P, but the food's still appreciated anyway, and I like the idea of developing my own style with it.

I don't cook often, or well for that matter. I will someday though, when I'm done with school. I think cooking is a skill that takes time and practice to perfect. I'm not a particular fan of the time or effort that you have to put into making some dishes, but the overall outcome can be sooooo delicious in some cases that it can be really worth it in the end.

Whenever I get around to learning, I'm going to start with some Italian dishes like lasagna and chicken parmesan...then continue with some of the weird and interesting casseroles that are out there. There's a breakfast casserole that my aunt makes that is awesome that I'd like to get the recipe for someday. Its like baked french toast and it is so yummy :monster:

I can cook good, whether if its by a stew pot looking over at a cook book or just baking things in the oven. I always make my own breakfasts, lunches, and dinners as long as the ingredients and what not are available to use. I'm a goddess at making ramen and mac and cheese, or anything else pasta related. The only thing I haven't done was cook by myself for a huge party. I'm not that independent .

I didn't at first, what with cleaning up after or preparing food different ways. But i got past that, it's not too much to do anyway. Cooking is easy for me to an extent, i have trouble remembering how much a certain dishes need of a spice, etc etc. Like i was close to putting a spice in the peach cobbler i made last week that i put in stew <.>

Can You Cook?

I was reading an article on the news about how Gen Y can't do any of the skills the older Generations could like Cooking, Sewing, etc.

So as most of us on here are Gen Y I thought I'd ask, can you cook? Do you enjoy cooking? and do you have a signature dish? :)

If you can't cook do you plan to or not? :)

I personally suck at cooking, my sister can cook though and she makes most of our meals haha I am however good at baking and my speciality is banana and walnut brownies! They are nom!

I do plan on learning to cook properly in the future, I will have to force myself to learn when my sister moves out :(

Unfortunately, I can't cook.

When I move out, I'll have to learn to survive solely on instant dinners, cereal, and peanut butter sandwiches.

Hm...it seems I've been eating nothing but those for the last decade already. Guess I'm in good shape. Still though...I can't cook at all. Not without risking burning stuff down or poisoning myself and others.

I don't understand how you can live at this age and not cook. I mean I know it's a woman's job and all ;) but how do you expect to survive in life if you can't at least feed yourself? I'm no gourmet chef but I don't think I could live off restaurants for my entire bachelor life.

I can't cook for my life. Except for maybe a bowl of cereal, or box brownies. But that's the extent of it. I wish I could though... Although I'd spend all my time making goodies instead of dinner! <3

I can make Mac-n-cheese... and I make a mean grilled cheese sandwhich... and... and... raman noodles. :wacky: But other than that, never tried.

Dude, I could SO live off restaurant food for the rest of my life. The only problem with that would be my heart. I'd die of a heart attack in a matter of months. Sucks...

Ohhh Tom .... srsly :mokken: ...but :awesome:

I can't really cook on my own. I manage things with recipes or directions though. When I graduate in December I'm going to buy a few cookbooks and start cooking on my own. Casseroles most likely...and my favorite Italian dishes like lasagna, fettucini, mostaccioli, and chicken parmesan. :awesome: Right now I don't have anyone to impress with any cooking skills anyway...so I can't see the point of cooking masses of food for myself.

I Can Cook, Sew, use a Wahing Machine, Iron and a whole bunch of other things, I hardly ever do these mentioned things because my mother tends to not allow me :hmph:

I go to iron clothes and she tells me to leave it and she does it...

but back on topic, because i go to the gym and have my own diet I tend to eat differently to what my Parents and everyone else eat, I generally make Pastas, Soups or Curries, its pretty easy once you get the hang of it, and would advise those that can't cook to really give it a try.

I can make an absolutely bitchin' cheese manicotti :jess: Also, fettucine alfredo, cherry crumble pie, the best chocolate chip cookies you will ever taste in your life :smartass:, brownies, divinity fudge, peanut butter cookies, apple pie, pumpkin pie, steamed vegetables, scrambled eggs, cheese omelets, pancakes, and taco salad :griin:

This is a good thing, because I could never afford to go out to eat for the rest of my life if I couldn't cook :gonk: And I'm getting kind of tired of frozen mac and cheese, which I've been eating every day lately since I've been too busy to cook :jtc: At least they're only a dollar though.

I love to cook! It's really good for stress relief, I think, and I love to eat good food, it's a win-win situation. I'm a good cook if I do say so myself.

I love to make all kinds of food: Miso Nabe (Japanese hot pot dish), homemade pierogis' (polish dumplings), croquette, etc. It's all delicious food :)
