Moogle Merrymaking!
Christmas is approaching and it is time to decorate the tree!
The friendly moogles of Mog Forest have lent the FFF community an enchanted and sentient tree called Toby.
Nothing pleases Toby the Tree more than being decorated. Back in Mog Forest the moogles like to decorate Toby with kupo nuts (which they later eat as a snack on Christmas Day), but now they are keen to lend Toby to humans for a festive experiment. -This honestly has nothing to do with Artemicion eating all of the kupo nuts too early, kupo!- Toby needs his branches filled, and now it is left up to your fertile imaginations to decide what they should be filled with! There is a superstition among moogles that the fuller Toby’s branches get, the happier that year's Christmas will be. Imagine this year if Toby is filled with myriads of quirky objects, all reflecting our individual interests and joys? Most moogles agree that this is an exciting prospect!
There is one moogle, however, who is not very happy about the concept of a joyous Christmas. Mogrinch is green, fanged, and very, very naughty. In fact, Mogrinch would much rather strip Toby’s branches bare and terrorise and humiliate the poor tree.
Mogrinch has followed Toby all the way to Final Fantasy Forums! You must stop him by ensuring that there are plentiful ‘baubles’ on Toby’s branches.
What you do:
Each time a player makes a move there will be two steps to follow.
1- Each player can suggest one ‘bauble’ to be placed on Toby (see below).
2- Each player must decide where to place the bauble on Toby. This can be chosen from the Bottom Tier, Middle Tier, Top Tier, or the Tip of the Tree (see below).
People can be creative in their choices and do not need to limit themselves to actual plain baubles. The only restrictions are that the ‘bauble’ would need to physically fit on the tree, and anything that would otherwise be regarded as colossal (i.e – requesting a T-Rex in a tutu) will be miniaturised into ‘bauble’ form.
-Rude and vulgar requests are against the moogle way, and will be disposed of by Montblanc’s Moogle Censorship Squad before Toby’s innocence can be corrupted, kupo!-
After you have requested your bauble, Dionysos will draw all baubles onto the tree. Once the baubles are in position each member will start to generate points for each round that the bauble is in place. These scores will be announced with each round.
At the end of every round the impossibly naughty Mogrinch will attack Toby! A die will be rolled for each bauble on the tree (all dice rolls are to be generated with this - http://www.random.org/dice/), but the values that you need in order for your bauble to survive each round depend on the location on the tree, and so will the score generated each round.
Bottom tier = 10 points generated per round. 4 or less will need to be scored on the die to remain on the tree.
Middle tier = 25 points generated per round. 3 or less will need to be scored on the die to remain on the tree.
Top tier = 50 points generated per round. 2 or less will need to be scored on the die to remain on the tree.
Tip of the Tree = 75 points generated per round. The values at both ends of the die (1 or 6) will need to be scored to remain on the tree. Additionally, since this is an honoured position only ONE bauble can be placed here at any one time. If another member has a bauble at the Tip of the Tree you will have to wait until Mogrinch destroys it and the space is vacant again. If more than one person attempt to place a bauble at the Tip of the Tree in one round and by some miracle all survive, then an extra die will be rolled and the highest value shall determine who makes it. The other player(s) will be moved to the Top instead.
At the end of every round Dionysos will report which baubles were destroyed by Mogrinch, and will draw a relevant representation of this destruction. When a bauble is destroyed no score is generated for that round and the bauble will be taken out of play.
Each player can only place ONE bauble on Toby’s branches at any one time, but if a bauble is removed by Mogrinch the player can place up another bauble for the following round. Be tactical! There are many different ways to reach higher scores. Which will work for you?
Example round:
A player might write: ‘Place Timmy the Turtle on the Middle Tier!’
Consequently, Dionysos would draw (along with all other bauble requests):
Say, for example, a die is rolled and scores 5. A roll of 3 or less is needed to survive, so the bauble is removed.
Consequently Dionysos would draw (along with all other casualties!):
Mogrinch has made turtle soup out of Timmy and has used the shell to make a lyre!
But if the die had rolled, for example, a score of 2 then Timmy would still be comfortably placed on Toby's branch (for another round at least!). The player from this would score 25 points for surviving the round.
It’s relatively simple in practice.
Each round will fall on the odd days of December up until Christmas Day (3[SUP]rd[/SUP], 5[SUP]th[/SUP], 7[SUP]th[/SUP], and so on). You may request your baubles now, in this thread, and the results of the first round shall be posted up on the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] of December. On the 25[SUP]th[/SUP] December the final round will come to an end, and the winners will be revealed.
The player with the greatest accumulative score wins the competition. Special honours will go to the player whose bauble stays on the tree for the longest without being removed, and also for the player (if any) who has a bauble at the Tip of the Tree when the game ends.
Since this is a new game, feel free to ask any questions to Dionysos if there is any confusion. This should otherwise be an easy game for members to participate in with minimal effort, but hopefully some fun.
Let us show Mogrinch that this year’s Christmas will be wonderful!
