Moogle Merrymaking!

Christmas is approaching and it is time to decorate the tree!

The friendly moogles of Mog Forest have lent the FFF community an enchanted and sentient tree called Toby.

ChristmasTree2.png

Nothing pleases Toby the Tree more than being decorated. Back in Mog Forest the moogles like to decorate Toby with kupo nuts (which they later eat as a snack on Christmas Day), but now they are keen to lend Toby to humans for a festive experiment. -This honestly has nothing to do with Artemicion eating all of the kupo nuts too early, kupo!- Toby needs his branches filled, and now it is left up to your fertile imaginations to decide what they should be filled with! There is a superstition among moogles that the fuller Toby’s branches get, the happier that year's Christmas will be. Imagine this year if Toby is filled with myriads of quirky objects, all reflecting our individual interests and joys? Most moogles agree that this is an exciting prospect!

There is one moogle, however, who is not very happy about the concept of a joyous Christmas. Mogrinch is green, fanged, and very, very naughty. In fact, Mogrinch would much rather strip Toby’s branches bare and terrorise and humiliate the poor tree.

Mogrinch.png

Mogrinch has followed Toby all the way to Final Fantasy Forums! You must stop him by ensuring that there are plentiful ‘baubles’ on Toby’s branches.

What you do:
Each time a player makes a move there will be two steps to follow.
1- Each player can suggest one ‘bauble’ to be placed on Toby (see below).
2- Each player must decide where to place the bauble on Toby. This can be chosen from the Bottom Tier, Middle Tier, Top Tier, or the Tip of the Tree (see below).

People can be creative in their choices and do not need to limit themselves to actual plain baubles. The only restrictions are that the ‘bauble’ would need to physically fit on the tree, and anything that would otherwise be regarded as colossal (i.e – requesting a T-Rex in a tutu) will be miniaturised into ‘bauble’ form.

-Rude and vulgar requests are against the moogle way, and will be disposed of by Montblanc’s Moogle Censorship Squad before Toby’s innocence can be corrupted, kupo!-

After you have requested your bauble, Dionysos will draw all baubles onto the tree. Once the baubles are in position each member will start to generate points for each round that the bauble is in place. These scores will be announced with each round.

At the end of every round the impossibly naughty Mogrinch will attack Toby! A die will be rolled for each bauble on the tree (all dice rolls are to be generated with this - http://www.random.org/dice/), but the values that you need in order for your bauble to survive each round depend on the location on the tree, and so will the score generated each round.

Bottom tier = 10 points generated per round. 4 or less will need to be scored on the die to remain on the tree.

Middle tier = 25 points generated per round. 3 or less will need to be scored on the die to remain on the tree.

Top tier = 50 points generated per round. 2 or less will need to be scored on the die to remain on the tree.

Tip of the Tree = 75 points generated per round. The values at both ends of the die (1 or 6) will need to be scored to remain on the tree. Additionally, since this is an honoured position only ONE bauble can be placed here at any one time. If another member has a bauble at the Tip of the Tree you will have to wait until Mogrinch destroys it and the space is vacant again. If more than one person attempt to place a bauble at the Tip of the Tree in one round and by some miracle all survive, then an extra die will be rolled and the highest value shall determine who makes it. The other player(s) will be moved to the Top instead.

At the end of every round Dionysos will report which baubles were destroyed by Mogrinch, and will draw a relevant representation of this destruction. When a bauble is destroyed no score is generated for that round and the bauble will be taken out of play.

Each player can only place ONE bauble on Toby’s branches at any one time, but if a bauble is removed by Mogrinch the player can place up another bauble for the following round. Be tactical! There are many different ways to reach higher scores. Which will work for you?

Example round:
A player might write: ‘Place Timmy the Turtle on the Middle Tier!’

Consequently, Dionysos would draw (along with all other bauble requests):

ChristmasTreeTest.png

Say, for example, a die is rolled and scores 5. A roll of 3 or less is needed to survive, so the bauble is removed.

Consequently Dionysos would draw (along with all other casualties!):

MogrinchTest.png

Mogrinch has made turtle soup out of Timmy and has used the shell to make a lyre! :O

But if the die had rolled, for example, a score of 2 then Timmy would still be comfortably placed on Toby's branch (for another round at least!). The player from this would score 25 points for surviving the round.

It’s relatively simple in practice.

Each round will fall on the odd days of December up until Christmas Day (3[SUP]rd[/SUP], 5[SUP]th[/SUP], 7[SUP]th[/SUP], and so on). You may request your baubles now, in this thread, and the results of the first round shall be posted up on the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] of December. On the 25[SUP]th[/SUP] December the final round will come to an end, and the winners will be revealed.

The player with the greatest accumulative score wins the competition. Special honours will go to the player whose bauble stays on the tree for the longest without being removed, and also for the player (if any) who has a bauble at the Tip of the Tree when the game ends.

Since this is a new game, feel free to ask any questions to Dionysos if there is any confusion. This should otherwise be an easy game for members to participate in with minimal effort, but hopefully some fun.

Let us show Mogrinch that this year’s Christmas will be wonderful!

This is a clever game and I'm interested to see what whacky adornments are added.. Thumbs up.

I usually adorn my tree with disdain and disappointment, but I will settle with wrapping this tree in a beautiful garland of sadness. The middle tier aught suffice.

A gremlin decided to mess with moogle dna and thus grew a pompom and purple wings and love of kupo nuts, it desires to be in the middle tier.

An extremely inebriated and diminutive Irishman (surname: McGee) is perched precariously on the tip of Toby, vomiting down all over the poor tree's leaves and branches. In one hand he is holding an empty pint of Guinness, while his other hand is still tightly grabbing onto a large sheet of paper (twice his size) that reads: "Gerry Adams is not a very nice person".

[Normally it would say something worse about Gerry Adams, but the Montblanc censorship squad threatened to deck me if I put in a rude word]

EDIT: Scratch that, let's just go with "Gerry Adams is not a very agreeable fellow".

Very nice so far. :ohoho:

Any more bauble requests from anybody?

The results of the first round (and start of the second) will be revealed at any appropriate time tomorrow (3rd December).

There is still time to make a suggestion for the first round.

A dodgy looking yellow and purple fungar holding up some mistletoe (the chancer!) requests to be placed amongst the middle tier.

(Wow. Actually quite a good first round. When I tested this concept privately to see if the game would work all but one of the 10 test baubles were destroyed in the first round of that trial, so this is a much better outcome for you all! The next round might not be so kind :argor:)

-

Round 2 starts now and will end on December 5th .

@Ethics, @soulcorruptor, @Lady Livi Comstock, @CassinoChips –You guys still have your baubles in place, and they will carry through into the next round. You can’t do anything else for now.

Anyone else can request their baubles for the next round here now.

You deserve a high five for putting makeup on the garland. I wondered how you would incorporate both beautiful and sadness into it.

Well done.

Five baubles are in play currently for this round.

Does anybody else want to put up one?

The results of the round will be posted up tomorrow (Friday 5th).

I place a :smiff: Smifftuar with a candy cane battle axe upon the top tier of the tree, ready to stab that pesky Moogle.

ChristmasTree-Mogrinch2.png

Mogrinch has lured McGee from the tip of the tree with a sack of potatoes, and now he has finally passed out there.
The genetically altered gremlin-mog is exposed to pure daylight and subsequently melts.
Quina has eaten just a bit too much of McGee's vomit and s/he chokes horribly.
Mogrinch decides to dip Fran in chocolate and keep her for Easter.

Round 3 starts now and will end on December 7th.
Ethics, iSmiff -
You still have your baubles in place and cannot do anything at this moment as they will carry on for the next round.

Anybody else can request to place up a new bauble!

Since Livi's McGee bauble has been removed the tip of the tree is vacant once again! Will anyone risk it?

GET OFF MY KOOL-AID, MOGRINCH.

Go big or go home. Let me get one of the Goddess statues from the Floating Continent in FF6 as a tree-topper, good sir.

It wouldn't be Christmas without a Bender robot on the tip top of the tree. Rock it Prime Jive! :shace:

lmao at Mcgee and Quina's untimely demise :lew:. Quina dying because of her eating habits too....

Let's see if I can have a bauble survive this round! At the bottom of the tree is a stealthy Abomination (FF9 design). It seems ready to eat through Toby's "wood" :gasp:.

Thinking it's a snake, Samuel L. Jackson climbs onto the middle tier of the tree and attempts to kill the sad/beautiful garland.
