Which actors do you think are totally defined by one role, often to the point that they get called the character's name over their own? Or, are there any actors in particular that you know for being a particular character rather than by their given name?

For me, it's the cast of Friends that I'm most guilty with. Jennifer Aniston will ALWAYS be "Rachel", Courtney Cox will ALWAYS be "Monica" and so on.

I'm getting this way with Desperate Housrwives too. The other day I was talking about it with my friend, saying how "Edie's" suing the show. I'd totally forgotten the actresses name :ffs:
 
I get that a little............but its not so much anymore, Like Micheal Shancks from StarGate SG1 l just refer to the guy like Daneil Danny or DJ lol like hes a close freind or something:wacky: same with Amanda Tapping who played Sam on SG1 she is for all intents and purposes just Sam..........she's great.

It just comes from familiarity with the show........
 
The entire cast of Friends.
Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt.
Pierce Brosnan, Sean Connery and Roger Moore all as James Bond.
Nathan Fillion as Capt. Mal Reynolds.
Mark Strong as a villain.
Famke Janssen as Jean Grey.
Michael Caine as Charlie Croker.

I think its just the length of time an actor palys a character. I can't watch SMG in any other role, she's Buffy, it just doesn't work

Oddly enough, Im not the same way with Willow, she seems to of moved on from the role quite easily (lol, I say that, and I said willow and not alyson hannigan haha)

Xander will always be Xander

and yus, the cast of friends to an extent, but i never really religiously watched it, so for me, its really only Buffy
 
Phil Mitchell all day. To the point where I don't even know his real name, he just looks like an angry potato.

I'd say Grant too but he did do all that Gangs crap on Sky so we all know him as Ross Kemp.

ken barlow, im sure hes just that guy on and off screen. Hes played that role for what, 60 odd years or summat daft

This is an oldie but goody...........theyve been on TV for so Flammin long that I refer to the guys from M*A*S*H by character name I also just call the guy who played Riddick as simply Riddick...........what was his name he was brilliant actor?...........Vin Diesel!

And also the entire cast Star Trek TNG,DS9 & Voyager..........TV is shite these days.
 
Tom Welling as Clark Kent in Smallville. It was odd seeing him in another film with the likes of Hilary Duff a few years ago. I just kept thinking, "That's Clark Kent! I'm expecting him to super speed to the rescue now."
 
It happens to me with Jemaine Clement from Flight of the Conchords... but maybe that's because he uses his real name? =P

And the ultimate.............Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.......hehe.
 
Most of the Actor's in One Tree Hill and The OC, Everytime i see Misha barton on TV or in the Newspaper i just think of her as Marissa and same with Sophia Bush.. She'll always be Brooke Davis, and pretty much all of the Lost Actor's mainly Jack, Charlie and Claire.
 
Chris Tucker = Smokey from the movie "Friday".
Hugh Jackman = Wolverine xD
Tobey Maguire = Spiderman... haha what a goofy actor...

Christian Bale will always be THE AMERICAN PSYCHO :rage:
