A reward has been offered after a cat was found duct taped from neck to tail in the US.

The Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is offering US$1,000 (A$1146) for information leading to the arrest of the person who taped the cat, nicknamed "Sticky" by Society workers, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The female cat was found abandoned in a north Philadelphia yard yesterday almost completely covered by tape.

"Whoever did this is very sick," George Bengal, director of investigations at the PSPCA (Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), was quoted as saying.

"I've never seen a cat totally wrapped like a mummy before."

PSPCA workers cut through the tape while the cat was sedated.

“Sticky” is expected to make a full recovery.

The tape has been saved to be used as evidence.

That poor cat must of been so hot and it's no wonder they sedated her before removing it. It would have hurt so much pulling that sticky tape off her fur. =(

That's one of the reasons why my cat is an indoor cat. Too many sickos out there. Saddest thing is that any cat that can be approached by complete strangers and abused like that, is probably someone's pet. If it was mainly feral cats, that would be bad enough though, but actually torturing someone else's pet like that for your own amusement, you'd have to be pretty messed up in the head.

That being said, people should start keeping their cats indoors or at the very least on their own ground. Not only is it the law in most countries, but cats that are neutered (as all cats not intended for breeding should be) really don't mind being indoor cats as long as they are adequately entertained.

but yeah... what sick fuck gets off on duct taping a cat? It's cruel. That cat would have found it hot, awkward to move... Poor thing.

My cat is an indoor cat. I can't stand cruelty to animals and this is just sickening. Sure people are going to say "The cats fine" and "It's only duct tape" ... but that doesn't change the fact that some sick shit did this to an animal. How would the person who did this like being covered in duct tape?

I'm apalled by the human kind sometimes.

I hope they find the fuck who did it and deliver a serious punishment.

I don't under stand some people. I can tolerate most things, but I can't abide cruelty to animals. I mean why DO that, what enjoyment are you getting for doing something liek that to an animal?

And cunts like that are the reason why my cats an indoor cat as well

If I ever caught anyone even TRYING to torment my cat I'd knock them into the middle of next week and I dont care who they are or how old they are either

I'm not really a cat person and I'd never own one, but that doesn't mean it's okay to do that to a helpless animal. =0

Some people just think that because they hate a particular creature or whatever that it's okay to take it out on them in sick ways such as these.

I remember someone telling me that they put duck tape on their cats paws once so that it couldn't walk properly.

I was like. =0 That is so cruel! And they were expecting another reaction too. <_< They wanted me to laugh. <_< You could just see them look all sheepish after that.

I say when it comes to animal cruelty it should be an eye for an eye type rule. I don't get off by seeing people tortured or hurt for repayment, but when someone has the senseless indecency to do to this a cat that just means they need to be locked up in a psycho ward. This person shouldn't even be given a trial, they should just be locked away. I mean granted, its not as bad as beating the cat, but at the same time I'm sure more things happened to that cat besides taping them.

Proper repayment would be putting Hot Sticky Glue all over their body and then on top of that use industrial duct tape to wrap their body as tight as possible. Then after a few minutes... rip it all off, let's just see how they like being skinless hairless and such.. it would be like a burn victim almost.

lol that actually didn't sound like a real story or more of like a spoof than anything, but I'm originally from Pennsylvania and I heard some of my family back home mention it.

That's awkward, but I can't say you can't put it past pranksters to not think of something like that.

It's pretty sick, but there are some twisted people out there. Maybe they enjoy the power over another life or something like that?
In any case, I wouldn't treat them with the same barbarism as they did the cat. I would just try to find the root of the problem and help them...

I'd have imagined they cut just under the tape rather than pulling it off, the whole sedating thing was probably to keep the cat still more than anything. Either way, it's pretty sickening I honestly don't see why people are cruel to animals, they get nothing out of it and just makes them looks like arseholes tbh.

Well, I suppose that's the only inlet through which they can release whatever they need to release. No doubt, they could have chosen better means of releasing whatever they had kept pent up. To resort to cruelty to animals in this manner is downright despicable..

Though, I find the name of the cat rather ironic, eh. 'Sticky'?
