Favorite and worst boss battle theme?

Love IV, VI, VII, VIII, IX, and X.

I haven't played FFXIII-2 but I don't like it...

I like FFVII's Boss Battle the most.

The first time I played it, and I heard this music, I was like... Oh shit...Shit just got serious. And I actually felt a sense of worry.

I also like -

VI, VIII, X, XII, XIII.

XII's battle music clearly hints at an upcoming Legendary Battle. I like it.

XIII-2's theme is the shittiest.

I quite like the boss battle theme for I, II and II though it would be great if they were more complex. Limitations at the time, of course.

IV is a bit more tense and exciting!

V's is decent but doesn't quite hit the right note for me.

VI's is rather strong and the layers add depth.

Ah VII's! I remember this one very well! And it takes me back to those boss battles. It's catchy and memorable. I can see Nobuo and The Black Mages chilling out as they play this (they always look so chilled out!) and the jazzy edge to it is great.

VIII's is very good too. =) I do love that electronic organ-like intrument!

IX's has a very sinister feel and it made the bosses feel more threatening. There's something...large about the music. I imagine a great big, strong monster in front of me.

X's! I didn't know this was the boss battle music... Either way, this is my favourite! It's very tense. It sweeps, the clashes enhance the action and suspense as party members fall, as the enemy grows weaker but keeps dealing out powerful attacks! (I want to replay this game!)

Not so keen on X-2's... It's alright, but doesn't feel like FF music. Same goes for XI, which is more LotR-like.

The music for XII is perfect, fitting in with the medieval theme of the game, making those boss battles feel epic. But it's not as memorable as the themes for VI to X.

XIII's boss battle theme is a pretty piece, but lacks that depth and subtlety that completed previous boss themes.

XIII-2's battle theme is the worst of these and the worst track on the XIII-2 OST! It's quite possibly the only piece I dislike on the OST.

Here's my list for all of them:

Like: I, II, IV, V, VI, VII, X, XII, XIII

Don't like: X-2, XI, XIII-2

Indifferent: III, VIII, IX


My favorites are probably VI and VII. My least favorite would be XIII-2.

I didn't see an option for XIII itself, so I'll refrain from voting until it's added.

Anyway, my favorite boss tunes com from VIII, X, XII, and XIII. They all have a very dangerous melody and catchy rhythm, which fit wonderfully in the situations/battles they're used in.

I have to say, IV and IX are my favorite, they are the songs I think of most when I think of boss battle music.

As far as the least go... X-2 and VIII, VIII almost sounds like regular music, and X-2...just really annoys me to listen to that music.
