So I was thinking, and I always never really liked Ashe cuz she totally slaps basch, and yells at people like all the time, and especially at the part where she is about to fight Cid and Vaan jumps in to help and she all like
"shut up Vaan you're interfering! " and its just like OMG what a bitch you are! these people just went with you across the whole world to help you save your damn kingdom and all you can do is yell at them?

lol so anyways I was thinking,
if I were her, and had to go through all the crap she whent through, id be a bitch too, I mean we cant all be loving, forgiving people who keep positive attitudes

I would be bitter as all hell if I were her....
just sayin

I still think she was an insufferable bitch. :dave:

She wasn't the only character in the game to have her life screwed up and she wasn't the only character in the game to have lost anything. Personally, I think Basch had it worse than her and he managed to be decent to everyone else.

I think I could have dealt with her attitude early on if her character had any growth or change but she didn't. She was pretty much just a cardboard cutout of a bitch stereotype for the entire game.
 
Well imo Vaan looks like a bitch herself so ofcourse Ashe treats him like one ;)
but to me she never came across as bitchy, she is of royal status etc. its obvious they are like that and understandable..
 
i found her attitude amusing. not often do i find a "mess with me and die" character in games.
 
She's just angry because she lost people she loves.

Been there and done that..so I empathize.

Her attitude wasn't a critical flaw in that game.. a game which had several deficiencies/flaws...
 
Ohri Jin's right. Not only is Ashe royalty, but she's on a crusade to liberate her kingdom. She had to face war with a war-face. She maintains her composure no matter what. Even in the most difficult of times. She shows competence most of the time, but you can see her in doubt or struggle to make a decision. That's because she is 19 and new to the game after all. And let's not forget the amount of shit she had on her shoulders, which she dealt with how a world leader would.

She lost her husband and father, she's avoiding an authority that wants her dead, she got the responsibility of an entire kingdom and the resistance falling on her lap and she's surrounded by three thieves, a knight who's yet to be proven his innocence and a girl only known as "Vaan's friend". She was torn between waging war against the empire or destroying the nethecite. You'd understand if she's not all :awesome: and :x3: all the time.

The way I see it, Ashe is the female character Final Fantasy needed in a long time. Rinoa and Yuna can't even touch the level of competence Ashe has. Garnet is a close second though. Don't get me started on Claudia (Lightning)

She's a bitch at first, but... Idk. She changes. Only a little bit, though.
But yeah, she's pretty bitchy. It's because she's royalty, I think. She has no right to be that rude, though.
 
yeah the only time in that game she behaved like a not-bitch was when she thought Balthier was going to die at the end and she was all like
"nooooo!!!!! Balthier!!!! dont die!!!!!"
and its like wtf? all of a sudden you care about Balthier?
 
Meh. I never really liked Ashe as an character. Even if she's royal and whatnot idunno. GameMage did make some pretty good points but, still she could at least try to be nice. Like Tia said, I would've maybe liked Ashe as a charcter if she changed, but she didn't.
 
I'm gonna make this short and sweet. SHE IS A PRINCESS!!!!!!!!! She is a spoiled brat that didn't get her way and is pissed off at the world. I will give her a bit of credit, that she actually decided to do something about it.
 
Her status and her losses do not excuse her attitude. They may explain her attitude, but they don't excuse it. No one has the right to be an ass to people, princess or otherwise.

She did start to change throughout the game. She started to rely more on others and later on began to act more mature. It wasn't a very big change, but it was there.

I agree with this part of the post. Ashe is'nt a bitch she's just a strong character, and made a change from all the other girly/schoolgirl types so common in FF games.

I agree with lionheartcs, just because she was a princess does not mean you get the right to be an butt towards everyone. She had a lot of baggage on her shoulders and I can understand that, but that still doesn't give her the right to mean and snappy towards everyone. Look at Basch. He was punished for a crime he didn't commit, but you didn't see him snapping and yelling at everyone. I will give Ashe credit for wanting to restore her kingdom, but there wasn't much I liked about her. :/
 
I like her, Im a bitch lol.

As people have said, shes a princess. Spoilt, stroppy and a complete brat. No its not a reason she should be that way, but shes lost people she loves and therefore doesnt take shit from anyone. I guess the bitchyness is a defensive weapon also, she doesnt want to get hurt, and its her emotional wall.

Ashelia.......a bitch.....Idk about that she was just your run of the mill princess to me with no real overpowering characteristics, bossey and self absorbed behaviour are just apart of the princess model and why would she be any different?

A notable side......note.....is the Woman who voiced her,Kari Walgren is also the voice behind many of S-E and other female characters, check her out on wiki:)
 
I rather like Ashe. Bitchy, perhaps, but it's unreasonable to expect a 19 year old, who had her lover AND her kingdom AND her throne AND her father taken away and was forced to go into hiding, to behave like a high school girl or a saint and fart rainbows. Making her like Garnet would have gotten her the same amount of hate, by the way, since she would be called a Garnet clone. I much prefer her as 'the Bitch' and not 'the Garnet Rehash'. In fact, the former sounds pretty kickass.
 
I don't really like Ashe, she IS rather bitchy. But she's a beast in battle, so I use her a lot. I could really care less about her tragic past, everyone else has had it pretty bad too. I usually feel bad for the characters with a past like hers (maybe because I'm a sucker for sad stories) but she was just SO sassy and annoying. When she started to grow up and "calm down" and mature, I didn't mind her as much.

But Basch was my favorite character... I hate her for slapping him. :mad:

I mean what kind of pretentious person just slaps someone in font of other people, if I remember right Basch was some what fearful ofhis presence being known in Rabenastre?
And Ashelia, ignoring the polite way of the town proceeds to hit him and draw attention to him.

What a shameful act of frustration.......did he not later sware to serve her and protect on her journey to Archadia, thats what fealty does to you; makes you a mindless welp bound to folliowng orders, even the orders of the dead.

Well vaan had lost a lot of people he loved as well as basch. So I wouldnt excuse ashe to be the way she is. She does warm up a bit in the end too.

I agree with the creator of this thread. She insult balthier for being a pirate on several occasions, Slaps basch in the face when all he was doing is seeking to help her. Is always telling vaan to shutup. She is just annoying and rude in my eyes. She seems angry to me and its the same anger as the empire...A judgmental anger.
