A 10 minute video that i couldn't make it through

I think they deserve what they get. If one was hit by a bus i would probably feel quite smug and laugh. Imagine that was yer mum or something or yer grandma. Fuck that. Wee bams.

People always say that, well if it was my nan then I wouldn't be thinking straight or subjectively when I gave my response. You might as well ask me what if I was drunk or high. You hate to see this old grandmother tormented, but think it's ok to torment a thirteen year old on much larger scale. I'm not saying they shouldn't be punished, just that this is equally reprehensible

They started it. You have to expect backlash with things like this.

Dont be surprised when that kid you bully everyday turns round and bleeds your nose open.

The whole time I watched this video I thought of my grandma who's sitting near me and watching TV. I thought about how I would've felt if kids like that had done that to her on a bus and then I thought about if one of those kids were my little cousin or something and how I would feel if I heard about what they did. I wouldn't say they should be tortured or die but certainly they need to be scolded and they need to get a good mouth-washing because their language is so appalling for middle schoolers. Maybe I'm just old, lol, but I find it weird to think that these kids are only like two or three years younger than my cousin and they're so disrespectful. My little cousin's 14 and he would never do something like this. I just think it's really rude and that they should definitely get a stern talking to from a higher-up. I'm just surprised that the bus driver never noticed and decided to pull the bus over and be like, "Hey guys knock it off! Show some respect!" But then ... maybe he didn't hear/wasn't paying attention. A lot of the Youtube comments are just ridiculous though like how these kids should die and stuff--they're kids--rude ones at that--but still ... killing? No. Scolding and making them feel like crap and feel guilty? Absolutely.

Agreed, they started it, they get what they deserve with people lashing out towards them. If you don't want to get a public reaction don't be an ass publicly and expect to not be bashed just 'cause you're a damn kid. Just saying. =/

I hate to tell you, but I'm willing to bet that 3/5 of these kids parents think they don't do these things either. :neomon:

This is what she should have done about three minutes in, obviously less physical, though.

Of course they don't, they probably expect that their kids are perfectly behaved angels and some of them would probably be really shocked if they saw the footage of their kids doing this. I'm sure the parents have seen this already I mean this pretty much went viral. Lol, her decking them in the faces would've been funny, not gonna lie. But like ... I dunno ... if I were her I would've gotten really cross and just told them off and I wouldn't have given a fuck really. I would've put them in their place 'cause what they were doing was really immature and it just showed that none of their balls dropped yet. -_-

The only shitty thing about this video is that you can see the woman is intimidated, it's very, very disgusting to see a whole group gang up on her, and then for her to be expected to perform under usual circumstances, she was most likely, (as she looks anyway) intimidated, I do believe kids like that would push and shove her around physically if she would've moved, however, the bus driver could've checked to see what was going on, because honestly, I doubt this was something 'unnoticeable'.

But meh. =/ Just thinking about this video gets my blood boiling, so...

Yeah, that's what I was saying ... why didn't the bus driver notice that though like they weren't being quiet about it at all. It was so obvious that something was going down on that bus. And yeah they really did intimidate her, you could tell that she wasn't sure what to say and she kept shaking her head at one point as if to be like, "Why me?" I felt so fucking bad for her.

So anyway I'm watching the news right now and they gave an update on it. I'm watching Eyewitness News. Apparently the kids were required to write a formal letter of apology to the bus monitor and she said that she wouldn't press charges against them. She also said that she wanted them to be disciplined by school authorities. More information can be found here in case anyone wants to take a quick glimpse: http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2012/06/students-apologize-to-bullied-bus-monitor/

Oh so an eye for an eye approach, well a more extreme version. It is more like busting someones nose and getting your legs smashed. I suppose I must have been the only one who made someone cry at some point in my life.

Basically. I'm not surprised that the school went down that route though; I expected them to have to come up with some form of apology and be reprimanded for it and stuff. I guess public humiliation, the school felt, was punishment enough as was.

Pretty sure you're not the only one who's done that, the thing is, it's just rather pathetic they all gang up on one older lady. It's not about them just being kids, they're kinda crossing a line imo, and they crossed it big time.

You do not have to nag down on how someone looks/smells/lives, just to make yourself feel better or be popular amongst your friends, that's ridiculous.

about it being her job to make sure the kids are doing what they're supposed to, yeah i agree to a point because as my mom was saying the other day, what if it was someone's kid in her place? would she just be sad for them? i don't know what /i/ would do in that situation because i'm the same type of person as this woman, you really need someone tough in that place

but tbh with rules today what could she have done? anything she would have said would probably have been used against her by the parents since the video is actually out

and idk if the other two videos are available but in the one i saw her getting up and scolding a kid, but it only works so much. when there's a group of asshole boys it's an extremely tough situation

andddddd i agree with toni that that was probably her breaking point, working with kids for that long and now having them be /this/ nasty, on the tv show she didn't really answer whether or not they had been doing this for a while so i don't know

incoherent rambling, my specialty

In one article it said that the boys were always a little rude, but on that day they were much worse and she didn't know what brought them to do that.

And I think I do agree with Licky; these kids are young and stupid and cruel. They were quite cruel, but I don't think they deserve hundreds of threatening messages. They'll get punishment (from parents, classmates, and possibly school), and Karen will get a vacation. Do they need to get more abuse beyond that? I mean, they are just stupid kids.

Either way the whole thing will blow over in a few days/weeks, and the messages will stop. People will forget.

But if I were Karen, I'd be like Don't give me the vacation give me the cash. I mean, it's almost a million dollars :gasp:

Someone should update this story. :ohshit:

1. Someone held a fundraiser. They raised more than $500,000 for her to take a nice vacation.

2. Celebrities Respond.

3. The bullies tried to apologize:

4. Investigation:

Both the school district and local police have pledged to investigate and have already questioned 4 students, who have admitted their involvement.Karen has decided not to press charges.

5. 4chan got involved. They identified the bullies, posted their facbook accounts, etc. Don't know if they followed through with their usual policy of harassment, threats, etc.

Thanks, Ari. :lew: Just finished Googling it myself, as well!

I hate to say it, and no I don't intend that this is her fault, but why would you take a job like this knowing how kids are? If you take any job with any kind of kids, do you really expect them all to behave? Could she not speak with the bus driver and have the situation resolved if she could not stand up for herself?

well in today's economy and at that age, i am pretty sure you take what you can get

id rather have a job instead of sitting on my ass getting fat with disability being able to make fuck all

Though they were very foolish posting this up on Facebook, along with some of their faces being seen on the video.

... if you're interested.

That is quite scary... Why are the names and contact details of the co-workers of one of the kid's mothers considered relevant enough to be posted on that too?

As much as I was horrified by the video I think that nuking the whole of New York's Greece is probably a step too far.

well, i don't think that anything is going to happen to them

the worst they'll probably suffer is a turd wrapped in foil and a lot of hatemail from over zealous self righteous assholes

That's already too much.

They'd feel seriously invaded.

Even if nothing beyond that (which is unpleasant as it is) did occur it would still be hell... There could remain the possibility that something could happen.

It is unlikely to happen as they are not connected to this at all... But having that sort of information pasted about on the internet for an angry horde to shake their torches at is not going to leave you feeling very comfortable with yourself.
