EEW!!! so dramatically & romantically zappified over-cliché trailer  If this aint girly I dont know what is!

"It doesnt have to be that way. We can all change that" BLEGH!!!!
Damn you SE if you make Serah fall in love with tht futuristic metro dude....

Best part future dude gettin stabbed :griin: will he really die ofcourse not...sigh...

Felt like a bad anime this trailer..........Yeh watched the whole trailer.

ps: PUZZLES are so tedious....sighhhhh

Jesus, do I really have to watch this so I can make some constructive criticism? SEVEN minutes? String me up and burn me at the stake for witchcraft now, why don't you :hmph:

It's nice to see that, despite the world is collapsing around her, Lightning still has the emotional range of a brain-dead BORG. Just because she LOOKS like Cloud doesn't mean to say she has to be as pathetically bland and completely apathetic as he is. Apathy is NOT a good character trait for a protagonist! It's not even a character trait; it's a sure sign that the writers couldn't be arsed to give her a proper character. Like amnesia is, only worse, because at least with an amnesiac you can give them some sort of background. Lightning is just getting worse and worse.

...so why are we even caring that she's fucked off to parts unknown? Can Serah not stand on her own two feet? This "we need to find Lightning!" is a very stupid plot device, because I can't honestly see WHY we need to find her. It's not like she's even remotely interesting. Why don't we go find Sazh instead? You know, the token black guy that people actually gave the slightest damn about.

This time-travel thing is a headache. I can tell already from this video that it's going to be one fucked-up mess. FFXIII was painfully lacking in the story department so, to disguise this, they've just thrown time travel into the mix. Bravo, Square Enix: nobody can say XIII-2 doesn't have a story now, because nobody will be able to figure out what the bloody hell is going on. Time travel NEVER ends well in video gaming.

Looks like the game will pretty much play itself, as well. Executing all these flashy attacks whilst the player hammers away mindlessly at one button, occasionally swapping for a QTE that is ultimately futile, because Squre Enix think that pressing a button in a set time limit might be a bit too difficult for players to handle. They could have AT LEAST made some changes to the godawful interface, rather than just tacking a bunch of shit on to make it look different...like monsters, and QTEs, and whatever else they've concoted.

Those songs...could they have picked poorer music? They're AWFUL. It's just vocals for the sake of vocals. Stop advertising second-rate singers and start composing a proper OST for your video games already!

I know I've said this before, but I'll say it again anyway, for those who missed it and think I have nothing good to say about this game: Gaius is a stud. He's got EVERYTHING: the awesome character design, a sexy voice actor, and the power to back it up. Plus he kills that feminine Fang-wannabe Noel. I think I'm in love. Seriously. He's the complete opposite of...wait...who the fuck was the villain in XIII again? That freaky sun-disc thing? Or that Emperor Palpatine wannabe who fried the only promising character in the entire game, and then popped up at random intervals to turn into a giant LEGO version of Andross? I don't know. Point is, Gaius can "cross swords" with me any time :kinky:

...oh, and it's all very pretty I suppose. But then, so was XIII, and look how THAT turned out. You can dress a turd up, but it's still a turd, and you can't teach an old dog new tricks, so the future is bleak for XIII-2, in every sense. I'd go on, but I can't think of any more tired phrases that would go in context.

I can't believe I put myself through watching that, just to be the voice of criticism. The things I do for you people :hmph:

@Rorolina Frixell: Is it just me, or does Serah use one of Tsuruhime's attacks around three minutes in? :hmmm:

Chrono trigger. Chrono Cross.
Are both overrated, the former especially. My statement still stands as far as I'm concerned :mokken:

Oh, and whilst I'm at it, I'd like to say that the entire premise for this game is dismal. Way to take what was a fairly happy ending and ruin it, Square Enix.

I'd also like to re-iterate how fucking awesome Gaius is. First it's "Know terror!" and pretty soon it'll be "AHAHAHAHA! KNEEL DOWN BEFORE ME!" or "BOW TO ME! WORSHIP ME! HONOUR MY NAME!" etc etc. Liam O'Brien is incapable of playing any part badly. Even in a game as bad as this promises to be, he's going to shine.

You seem to miss the fact that both these game did time travel(and dimension travel) perfectly.

Who cares if their overrated. they both did time travel perfectly. which you said no game did. my point stands.

arrrr the hope bit at the end well sweet... looks sarzh back as well.... snow just fails.. the evil guy i'm still saying he voiced by kain actor.. and i got spoiled the ending of ffxiii thanks :hmph: but the game looking well wicked soo looking forward to it XD

You seem to miss the fact that they didn't. The only reason they're celebrated so much is because they were amongst the first to integrate such a concept into their gameplay. Doesn't mean they did it well. It's like Ocarina of Time, or FFVII. Making a popular game is easy. Making a GOOD game isn't. Chrono Trigger had terrible gameplay and an even poorer story, and the time travel gimmick didn't exactly add to it in any significant way.

Time travel is a bad idea, and it always has been. You don't have to agree with me, but don't tell me I'm wrong, because I'm allowed an opinion as much as you are. :mokken:

Given how painfully confusing XIII's terminology was, I imagine XIII-2 is going to be even more painful, because you're going to have to try and make sense of it across multiple time zones, and they've already thrown some more into the mix. Plus Noel is explaining it, the man who supposedly has very little memory. Like Winnie the Pooh has very little brain.

Anyways, I'm done now, until someone shows me some more Gaius footage :yay:

I'll say one thing, I really wouldn't mind watching this all on Youtube like one long movie. Playing it however, probably not unless there is a feature or a part of the game compelling enough to get to, in which case I may rent it or get it if it's really dirt cheap.

Okay, I love you, Charice, but after several listens, your song is just decidedly meh. It's a better fit than Leona Lewis's song, but it sounds too much like a random J-pop plucked out from somewhere, hastily translated to English and slapped on as a theme song. What happened to themes like Melodies of Life, the ones that actually do sound like they were composed with care for the OST? Still, at least we're not getting Mai Fukui singing it. She's generic as hell and extremely bland.

Right, I just want to say that I ENJOYED the trailer. It is definitely the most revealing one so far. They really should stop with these trailers before they give the whole damn game away xD. Perhaps the only thing I did not like about the trailer was the parts we have already seen. It just was like "oh I already saw this" Of course it would make sense to put all these trailers into one spectacular one though. They did this with the first game as well, but things are going a little too far here. Caius has to be the most badass. I still think he will die in the possible 3rd game. *shudders* Obviously he is too badass to be ready to die, or something is keeping him from dying. He is Beyond Death! Just look at him. He is An extraordinary Villain! I like how they sort of made Episode I into event scenes. We will surely get a lot of flashbacks. Ah Hope, I thought you have grown. He looks like he is crying towards the end about Vanille and Fang. The song? I really do not mind it, but I would just love to know why it is identical to Mai Fukui's version. SE clearly had something stupid up their sleeves. Charice should have sang a completely different version. Mai Fukui is not the most horrible Japanese singer, but I hate that Charice has to feed off her. This is one thing that just does not work well. Once again, Noel getting stabbed is something I love. I really feel nothing towards Noel, and I hope he dies. :mokken: Caius will obviously live on till the 3rd game. They are just throwing it in our faces. Yuru gets pain every time she changes the timeline? Well that is just great. I guess it does make sense. The flashbacks at the end clearly show that Sazh, Vanille and Fang are going to be revealed in the future. Caius is obviously the main baddie here. He kicks the shite out of every villain in the first game. Oh wait XIII had Baddies? lolwhut?

I am sooo gonna love this game :x3:

Just a couple of things I like about the trailer:
-the new music in the middle
-chocobo race
-casino
-badass Caius
-exploration

Oh and I like Yeul's character.

Square Enix has released a seven-minute trailer and a collection of new screenshots for Final Fantasy XIII-2, showing off returning character Snow’s redesign along with some monsters and battle scenes.

Head on over to Famitsu or Neogaf to see the screens; the trailer is embedded below thanks to IGN.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 releases on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in early 2012, with a Japanese release in mid-December.
Thanks, Miladesn.

Hmm I rather enjoyed the trailer, too many people over react and think WAY too much on this stuff. Actually alot of questions I had and alot of negatives and worries from the other trailers I see have cleared up, after watching all of this Im excited about the game again. Im paying lots of attention to the music as wel on this stuff, I been wondering just what exactly their going to be doing with it,sounds like it might be slightly different from FFXIII but still the same to some extent. I liked the beginning though seeing light get dragged away, I thought that was cool, and her battling kais is a war torn battlefield, just all of that footage makes me super excited about the game again, cause I hope its not just a cutscene I really want to go through the whole sequence and actually battle my way to kais even if its just in a quicktime event format, they should make us play it not just watch it. That aside I see nothing about sazh, yeah we see a flashback of him,as well as fang and vanille which is all I reaking care about, thats my only concern at this point, so once I get that answer then its all uphill for me.

I don't think they have spoiled too much with the trailers if I'm honest, leaving me with more questions than answers, but that's just my opinion.

Anyway, I am still looking forward to this game, I played a bit of it at Eurogamer, and it seems like SE are making an effort to make the game more enjoyable to play, my only criticism is the new bad guy, Caius. They kind of recycled him a bit haven't they? I mean everyone is hyping him and stuff, but the VA and the purple hair? He's a 2011 Kain edition isn't he? I'm sure he'll be a good adversary though, even if he did stab my new favourite Character :(.

I'll just have to see how this game does when it's released in the EU in February...

Knowing Final Fantasy by playing every title in the main series,i am sure that Caius to beat him,you wil have to beat him in every era trough time and present to annilhate him!

More like Sephiroth in ff7 ,you had to beat him in every form, now since Caius can travel trough time you will probably end up beating him in every era and then at the present moment, thats why they said he is the toughest Antagonist of the series !

sorry fer my bad english !

More than likely....

we won't get to beat Kaius/Caius at all in FFXIII-2 but have to wait until FFXIII-3 to do so.
I am not enamored of that possibility at all.

I am not in favor of the stabbing spoiler either. That should not have been included in any of the trailers.

My feelings about this game are starting to turn negative. I thought well ok at first but now I am suspicious that Square will just use this game to extend things to FFXIII-3 and delay FFV further down into the future.

I regard that as bad news.:jon:

I was a little apprehensive at first, but the last 3 trailers have gradually changed my opinion! I'm looking forward to this! :)

In response to those who say XIII didn't have much of a story, I've read an interview with one of the producers in which he said that it would take about 8 years to make a game with a story as complex as VII. Perhaps they're trying to divide the story across several games? I certainly like to think they've had this planned since they started! I like how they've transformed a good ending into a bitter one.

As ever, there are no doubt moments where the writing will seem rather cliche and awkward, but I've always managed to look past that and grasp at the essence of the story. :)

The battle system doesn't bother me too much... I'll always prefer the system in X, but I'm open to changes and differences; in this one, you can choose how much effort you put in, and the battles are incredible visually!

My only complaint is Serah's design. She is a stick on stilts.
