[03/06] FFXIII-2 20 Seconds Long Trailer

Looks like Moogles are making a comeback! lol.

And also the characters that were at the beginning of XIII look like Now Playable characters throughout the story. Hrmmm...I dunno about the Wakka look a like though. But all in all still in early development, looks like the same battle system so far.

Cannot wait for more trailers.

Lebreau :gasp: Jess'll be excited :8F:

Possible Spoilers, yadayada

I'm hoping this means that Team Nora will be made playable. I was gutted enough with how little screen time they got in game. And call it a guess, but is this woman with a moogle a new playable character? ...WAIT MOOGLE :gasp: A moving moogle :rage: Wonder if it's going to be a character's weapon or just a little mascot that goes along with the party :hmmm:

Serah's new outfit really screams what happened to Yuna's design in Final Fantasy X-2... Good job for being pervs again SE. New character with a moogle? :yay: I see Team Nora is returning. Which is nice, since we never saw them after chapter XII of XIII. Other things I noticed was the stagger bar. Complete shame. Goodbye, oh cute Serah. Noel.. what weapon is that? Oh and Lightning worshiping Etro once more.

Interesting....

The main character/fighter reminds me of Serge from Chrono Cross.

shrugs.

This fighting too reminds me of FFX-2, with monsters showing up and attacking unexpectedly.

One of the screenshots from another thread of this looks like the action is taking place outside of Lightning's house.

Are we really that enthralled of this game ?
The same combat system apparently.

Serah has to be a mage or a summoner.I certainly can't see her as a fighter.

Possible spoilers:

This apparent theme of immortality verses mortality doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Who wouldn't want to be immortal.
Maybe the Icie's didn't like being immortal but the central theme of current humanity is immortality.
What does God promise in modern day Christianity? The chance at eternal life.
Of course the Gods that were the basis of Cocoon and Pulse seem to have offered it as well or to have rejected it depending on which side they were on.

So we'll have to see how things pan out in this game.

Well the battle system is DEFINATELY the same,so much for the "evolved" battle system Mr.Toriyama:hmph:. It's not looking that linear, but wtf who cares now?

I'm not looking forward to seeing this Noel guy either.......And I think the stagger is back (dont know why it was missing yesterday in the screenshots).

Did lightning like turn into Sarah at the beginning there when she was kneeling? and Did she get religious? that looks like a statue or something...

But.. wait... *reads comments on moogles, goes back to watch video...* ITS A REAL MOOGLE!!! not the Tactics moogles...but a real one!!!!

Didn't see any Hope yet or Snow... but I'm sure there in there somehow... I'm confused by the first 3 seconds... but the rest seems to be a little preview to what they will show at E3 I bet

Hmm, I'm a tad interested. The graphics look pretty. But if it's the same E.V.A I'm not playing this game even if it's the best title ever. :mokken:

I'm curious to see how they went about walking on the maps, tho :hmmm:

27 seconds is not enough!!! Can't wait for more E3 news...

I have a strong feeling that this game will be much much better than the previous one.

anyway, some tiny details you may or may not have noticed:
-0:07 - Ruined(?) city at the background of the temple (?).
-0:11 - crystallised cocoon at the background. I think this is a coastal town in pulse. Probably they re-used Bodhum sceneries for this one, which is quite disappointing. But nevertheless, look at the map! NPCs (green dots), and larger maps
-0:13 - moogle following Noel. I wonder what's the purpose of moogles in this game? Nevertheless, I am so happy that moogles finally make appearance.
-0:14 - look at the bottom right of the battle screen. 'Pulseworker', which is apparently a monster, becomes part of the party. I wonder if monster manipulation is part of the new battle system? Or is it just a guest member?
-0:15 - look at the map! HUGE!!! I hope this is not the only such map. In fact, hopefully every map looks like this.
-0:16 - new guy/gal? Oh the moogle is so freaking cute...
-0:17 - I wonder what that 'success' text means. Success of controlling a monster? Is this even in the previous game?
-0:19: yay for puzzles! What's unstable rift?
-0:19: And what's cinematic action?

Wakka look alike?

I wouldnt put it past them. Yuna and Rikku were used as models for XIII in early development.

Also dose this mean Serah will be playable? It would make a good plot point.

I just want hope and French for Vanilla back.

A trailer already? :rage:

Hopefully this one won't take 4+ years to create and release, won't be a liner gameplay, have towns, NPCs, good dialouge and actually be fun :jtc:

Already? The game is due end of year/early next year.
And no. No! No! NO!! I do not want to see an opened game where I have to talk to every NPC in a town to find out the next dungeon I have to go to. If you want that experience pick up a SNES Final Fantasy or something like The 4 Heroes of Light.
Square Enix there's a reason why XIII was one of the best games of 2010. Give us a streamlined narrative like the first XIII, thank you!!!

This is Final Fantasy.

I hope you are being sarcastic or something... :/

Yea, already. Telling me about the release date doesn't change anything really, nor does it help the case I'm afraid. The other game JUST game out last year, the information of a new one also came out recently and now there's a trailer and even before that, there was a release date? You can't make a good game in that amount of time (or rush it), the first showed it to be true. They spent so much time on graphics, graphics, graphics but by the time they released it, it wasn't as good looking as it was the date we saw screenshots. The game was liner because they spent so much time on the graphics (which believe it or not, is the reason) and the acting was stinky (for English, that is).

If someone wants just dialouge and pretty faces to go with it, create the character concept and the script and sell that. Otherwise, make it an actual game. Hopefully they learned and changed it.

(Its pretty bad when a pixel game (32x32 mind you that was built on Ruby) that just some random person made on a RM engine could pack more of a bang than this... >.>)
If you want that experience pick up a SNES Final Fantasy or something like The 4 Heroes of Light.
Just so.

Looks like we're going to be treated to an epic quest to find Lightning Valkyrie, consisting of the same poorly-designed, thoroughly boring battle system, the same bland, unspiring and tedious characters who have voice actors with the emotional range of a teaspoon, and probably more straight-line maps designed to get us to pay attention to a story that doesn't even exist. Bravo, Square Enix. Bravo.

As I've already said, the development gap between these two "games" is far too short. This is going to be more like Final Fantasy XIII part 2, rather than an all-new game. It can't be anything other than a load of utter bullshit, because they just haven't spent long enough on it and, its quite clear already, they haven't even made the slightest efforts to alter what constitutes as the gameplay.

...on the plus side, this is inspiring me to write my script :wacky:

/Enjoyed XIII. I dont really care either way what direction they take this game.

It would be cool to see another XIII with different aspects, but it would also be cool to see another game as well. Either way I will play it and I think a lot of haters will play it also because XIII is one of those games thats cool to hate even if you somewhat enjoyed it.

Either way bring it on SE! I'm ready for the fun

A few comments from me:

  • Short development time in comparison to FFXIII could mean:
+ Very little change to battle system as seen with how the stagger bar and Auto-Battle command are intact.
+ Shit. Auto-Battle again...
+ Very likely chance that cut content from the first game may be reused and reworked on for the sequel.
  • Then again, this is FFXIII-2. Those of you expecting big changes were always expecting something unrealistic from Toriyama's team.

  • Serah suddenly being able to fight? Weeeell, I suppose a few years have passed and being able to fight on the hostile terrain of Pulse makes sense, but considering she was a helpless crystal for much of the first game, I'm not too sure what to say about this.

  • So far, no Mr. Hero. Could my wishes have finally come true?

  • Monsters in your party...is perhaps the most interesting part of the game so far. If they pull this off decently, I may actually give this a chance. I see they've been looking at Dragon Quest and other similar games for ideas.

  • Unstable Rift reminds me of one of those silly Dissidia dungeon things. Oh, deary me. Hey, my hopes for some puzzles may have increased though.

  • 0:16 Can't we actually have a game where there isn't some mopey kid?

  • Moooooooooooogles! At last. And it looks like an ordinary FF-ish Moogle as well, not the odd shop mascot ones from FFXIII!

  • Nomura needs a holiday. Noel clearly looks either recycled from Male Fang, or he clearly wasn't trying this time. Not to mention Serah's new outfit as well...is she the next person to be hit by this Penelo syndrome?

  • Streamlined narratives in FF through very linear gameplay, largely easy battles and huge emphasis on visuals over anything else doesn't exactly equate much fun for me. Of course, I don't expect a FFXII either with how large its maps are, but if they can only keep compulsory, narrow corridor-like lines that go only one direction all the time to an absolute minimum, then that will be enough to tell me this may be better than FFXIII itself.

  • Team NORA! So they haven't been forgotten...

  • Lebreau yelling at Serah?! Jess, are you seeing this? :rage:

  • Talking to NPCs > overhearing NPCs talking. As you are no longer fugitives, there's no reason why you should only be eavesdropping.

  • I look forward to what they've come up with story-wise this time. Of course, I don't expect genius writing, but if it's supposed to be darker, I'm intrigued. Can we have good villains this time round as well, so we can have some element of badassness and Martel can have more of a challenge when satirising them? :olivia:

See? We're all happy! :yay:

Well, if Team Nora is there I think our luck just ran out. We will obviously be seeing Snow if Team Nora is around. You never know, he may pop up in the E3 trailer.. :sad3: If he does then.. hopefully he knows his bride can fight now and not be so "I am the Hero!" Lightning thought dead by many. Seems like the main focus of the beginning will be finding Lightning. :hmmm:

In this day and age, the challenge would be in NOT satirising them

I see what you did there :ohoho:

...although if you can answer me WHY anyone would want to find Ms. Cloudy Lightning Squall, I'll be even more impressed :gasp:

I get a horrible feeling that this game is going to be very much an "After Years" sort of game. Although unlike FFIV, the characters had bugger all development and its extremely difficult to care about what they got up to after the confusing and boring events of the first game (I didn't even care when I was actually playing the game, I just wanted to see Jihl...look how THAT turned out) and, unlike FFX-2, the system looks to be exactly the same, and there is no way that Serah could even come close to matching the level of fanservice Rikku provided.

So...what does FFXIII-2 have going for it? From the looks of that horrendously short yet ominously informative trailer...nothing.

Although...it'd be nice if Cid Raines was in it. Or Jihl made a surprise reappearance. Characters that promised to be interesting, but had their potential cut short by idiocy.

Does anyone have the slightest idea where Sazh probably is?....Even though he probably had the shittest stats for a character in FF history he was the only likable character.

And also I'm not liking seeing this Noel guy, he better not be stealing Lightning's spotlight as main character.......Though I'm guessing he probably will be main character for a few hours.

On a positive note the game does seem darker, thats probably the only promise they've delivered ever since announcing the game. It might not look linear, but I did see Noel walking through some kind of a hallway at one point......And also I thought this was set in Pulse, I aint seeing no large green fields, most of the places looks empty anyhow.
