Tutoring is certainly the main part of the job, but as I go, I have to make lots of notes which outline what the kids are doing with specific examples and feedback. These are used by the 'compare' to feed back to the parents when they pick their kids up. Some of the tutor find having to write them difficult, but I really enjoy them!

The centre also encourages us to engage with the kids. It's not just about learning; we want the kids to feel excited when they come. They're such a pleasure to talk to. I've had discussions with kids about desserts and apple crumble, toys they've received in lucky dips at school, bands they wish to create, cake (which I used to demonstrate that 80% is a good score and large percentage!) One girl gave me a very early Christmas note today!

That's alright! I understand how tiring work can be. After a long day, you just want to sit on the sofa, eat simple food and watch tv/DVDs!

What's the new girl at work like?

My job is fantastic, thanks! I'm certainly still enjoying it. I've had two shifts since my training shifts, and each has gone well! The staff there are so lovely. They're empathetic and friendly, reassuring, supportive and just a pleasure to work with. The managers are bubbly and not much older than me, which helps. They treat each tutor like an equal and have discussed how they don't mind asking us for advice or feedback; better to ask the tutors than pretend you know and make a mistake.

Furthermore, working with kids is actually starting to make me want my own one day; I wasn't keen on the idea before because they're so much work!

Have I elaborated on what the job involves yet?

He's so kind and polite, and treats everyone with respect, which is admirable. He's dedicated to his work, so he's been an inspiration; I've always been a hard worker, but past boyfriends weren't, which made me feel guilty about working...

He's a fellow reader, which is ideal as it means I get to spend hours in a bookshop. I hate making people wait, but if I enter a bookshop, I HAVE to explore thoroughly. Chris is the same.

But he's not confident enough! He's always achieved the highest grades at school and Uni, yet he compares himself to award-winning students. I am trying to make him see how much he's achieved.

We support one another, which is great. I'm one of those people who'd find it hard having someone totally independent... I like to work with someone to achieve something for their benefit, to make them feel more confident and happy.

Steve looks rough on the outside!? He looks so soft and gentle in your current picture! Very smart! You'll have to PM a picture!

Debts are a pain. I'm going to have to pay off my student loan when I become a teacher. The interest isn't too high, and the repayments aren't massive, but it's another thing to eat away at your earnings. :/

I do think that people who rent houses are cheeky. They basically charge you for the mortgage. Reminds me, an ex of mine got evicted because his landlord wasn't making payments to the mortgage company. :/

And Chris is lovely! He's only one foot taller than me, so he's incredibly short but I really love that. It means I can wrap my arms around him properly and gaze into his eyes! I'm 5 foot 1, so I've always had to look hiiiigh up.

That's absolutely fine, no worries! I see you've been watching True Blood! I've only seen the first episode. Chris bought it a few months ago but we never managed to watch more of it. Uni assignments. My creative writing tutor recommended it whilst I was researching for my fantasy screenplay last year. I've been wanting to see it ever since. I shall have to nudge Chris gently.

I have a feeling Odette and Derek loved one another from the start, but secretly. As kids sometimes do, they felt foolish loving one another, so pretended to hate one another instead. Their arguing in 'This Is Not My Idea' reminded me a little of Dimitri and Anastasia!

Tell me more about Steve! You mention him a lot in your posts which is really wonderful!

Just finished watching The Swan Princess! I managed to locate it on youtube It was amazing! So romantic, funny, and sad... The ending! Now I will CERTAINLY need to buy the set of movies so I can watch them in their full glory.

The Lion King 1 1/2 and The Lion King 3 appear to be the same movie on amazon.

Oh the old Disney movies were certainly darker. Remember Alice in Wonderland? I rewatched that the other year and thought throughout the entire movie, 'wtf. How did I understand this as a kid? ' It's perhaps the most surreal movie I've ever seen.

oh, I failed to mention Robin Hood and The Aristocats as favourites! I was also pleasantly surprised by The Princess and the Frog. It was so much better than I had expected it to be! I wish I could persuade Chris to watch more of these... He's not able to get past the fairytale quality to each story or what he perceives to be unintended racism in the voice acting.

Thanks for the feedback on the music videos. I'm currently thinking about the music I'd like to use...I just can't find the perfect piece! If you can think of anything, let me know!

There are FOUR Lion King movies? I've seen Simba's Pride (which I love as much as the original!) and The Lion King 1 1/2 with Timon and Pumba, but I've never seen a 4th around!

Have you seen Bambi 2? It's very uplifting and fills in the gap in the original movie! I absolutely loved it when I watched it a few years ago! Pinocchio was certainly traumatic; the corruption of the fox, the drunken boys turning into donkeys, and the whale swallowing up his honest father! I think I was the most traumatised by Dumbo and the pink elephants. I kept having nightmares and couldn't even watch the movie for about six years.

And don't worry about the long posts! They make good conversation! I tend to make them too when I get excited.

I don't have any other jobs at the moment, no. I completed University in June and have since passed my driving test, done some work experience in schools (for about three weeks) in order to decide which age I'd like to teach, and have been looking for work alongside that. I've also volunteered at a youth group, have proof-read a local wildlife magazine (which I'll be doing every three months), and have trained to lead health walks! It's going to be good to finally get some money... I've felt terrible about not earning anything.

My favourite Disney movies are Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, The Lion King, Lady and the Tramp and The Fox and the Hound (which ALWAYS makes me cry ). I haven't seen The Little Mermaid properly. I've only seen bits and bobs in French. Hopefully there'll be an opportunity to get that and Peter Pan after I receive my first payslip.

I shall also have to watch The Swan Princess! Have you seen Anastasia?

Ooh, it sounds like there's some variety there, though. :) What do you do in the book-keeping aspect? I'm going to be starting a job soon, managing and helping children in English and Maths after school. It'll be an evening and weekend job, but that means I'll be able to volunteer during the day. :)

What are your favourite Disney movies? :D I've loved the movies for years. =) I didn't watch any around the age of 16 because my boyfriend at the time thought them utterly stupid and made me feel bad about liking them. :hmph: I have since asserted my right to love pretty much all of them. :lew:

I don't have any music videos uploaded and it appears I haven't any on my laptop either, which is strange. :hmm: I shall upload a couple tomorrow and post a link to them! :)

Hey Kandy! I'm curious, where do you work? And I'm surprised there are no Disney movies listed under 'favourite movie'! Oh, and your recent music video using Dead Fantasy was awesome! It's been far too long since I made a music video.

I adore her too and screamed like a fanboy when I heard about her being included in Dissidia back when the second Dissidia game was coming out.
