KONY 2012 is a film and campaign by Invisible Children that aims to make Joseph Kony famous, not to celebrate him, but to raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice.

I don't know much about the subject thus far but I know a deal of the story and I've been seeing people compare him to Hitler, no doubt about it what this guy has done and continues to to this day to do is beyond evil and wrong in so many ways but its nothing close to what Adolf Hitler did by killing millions and torturing them, starving them and so many other horrible, unbelievable things. All that aside though I really hope someone or anyone does something about this wretched man, he deserves his slice of justice.

I highly suggest watching the film, but strongly suggest not to support Invisible Children. Their money is going towards their films instead of going to Africa like people believe it is when they donate. Spread the awareness, but don't donate unless you know where your money is actually going and if that's where you want it.

You know, it made me wonder when in the video there was a clip of an office building (presumably the HQ of IC) with a fleet of 15-passenger vans emblazoned with the IC logo parked in front. Curious as to how that helps the child soldiers in Africa. That and apparently they've made 11 films in 9 years, and if the one posted is any indication, they are of a fairly high standard. In other words, not cheap.

I just posted the video, I didn't say people should support it. I'm just spreading the word around.

Nothing more, nothing less. If people want to help fund IC, great.

There's a lot of unnecessary gimmicks in the movie, like the 3D images for example. The film wasn't bad, though. A lot of people ignore the criticism, though, because it's coming out of people who aren't famous or don't write for some big new company.

Awareness is good :lew:

I saw this going around on facebook. I took the time to watch, and listen to this. I support it enough to share, but I'm not too sure if I'll be going as far as to going around town on this 4/20 date. I mean, hey! If others want to do it, then more power to them. this guy needs to be caught, but I'm just not going to be one of those mad supporters. xD

Awareness from what, exactly....

This isn't new. Kony was at it for years and he is hardly the only one responsible. Perhaps look at the people who kept him around, made it possible for him to avoid capture all this time, authorised such acts and supported him. I say this in the past tense because Kony has been so ill, for some time now, that he is no longer active and is in a somewhat 'truce' of a kind. This video shouldn't be aimed at informing Kony but the many, many, MANY others. Not to mention it coming to light now has some serious ulterior motives.

Guys still a cunt though. Lynch the sod I say :mokken:

The bandwagon is literelly shaking with people jumping on it.

That said, with the dawning that the funds raised from this video dont even go to the cause it's trying to raise awareness for, is disgusting. It's like PETA for African Children. (btw almost typed Advent, what has VII done to me DX)

That said, I haven't watched it. And only feel inclined to share a short meme floating around FB, even if it is used wrong.

Things like this are horrible: The actual abuse and the people jumping on a bandwagon because it's perceived as the right thing to do, especially when people know very little about everything involved.

The internet is a good and bad thing. It can do some great things and bring people together, but it can also bring all the non thinking lemmings together as well, which accomplishes absolutely nothing.

I think alot of situations in Africa are terrible. Helping is good, but at the same time, you can only do so much. Many countries right now are just trying to stay afloat (because of horrible decision making and circular politics >_>) so those countries need to focus on their own well being. Throwing money at a problem, whether it's AIDS, or any other disease/dictatorship will only temporarily fix a problem. Those countries themselves (through alot of loss and hardship) really do need to do whatever they can to stand on their own two feet before ANYTHING will ever begin to change.

I hope you all figured out by now Kony is a stupid idea.

I was just sharing the video to see what people would say. I don't really support Kony, or Invisible Children at all.

Watching a video does not change my outlook on a charity group made famous by Facebook and other Social networking.

This just sounds like you thought it was cool originally, then realised there was more to it. Before finally, trying to claim that anyone who buys into it is an idiot. It's ok to admit you were caught up in the hype

You have gone from posting the video with the suggested comment(this is to raise awareness...). To then saying you were just raising awareness about the organisation as well as the subject of the film(?). Now you're going with the aloof, "only idiots buy into this" spiel.

When the Kony thing started appearing I decided to wait to see what it was all about, before leaping headfirst into the whole rigmarole. Nor did I want to come across as callous by wondering why we were drawing attention to just one man, rather than the underlying problems leading to mass genocides in Africa.
