I've seen a few threads, especially in the RP sections, with "[fill in the blank]" before the titles.

Now, it's been a while since I've used the admin side of vBulletin, but are thread prefixes accessible in 3.8? If so, they could be useful additions. Can save some typing; members can just pick and choose instead.

They are, yes. With thread prefixes, usually members don't mind setting it themselves. I suppose if there's enough demand for it in a section, I can set a 'Prefix Set ID'. :hmmm:

Oh yeah, definitely no need to go all out as far as the whole forum. Just the section(s) that use 'em most. Even then, pretty general prefixes would probably do just fine.

Gotcha. As for the RP section, I will speak to the moderator of that section and see what he has in mind. Thank you for your suggestions. :)

(Any general prefixes you have in mind?)

A date one for the news page would be helpful.. also [Callout Outer] and [Callout Inner] for the callout part would be good.. as for rp it would be [Interest Check] [Sign up/Discussion] and [RP]

I'm not sure I follow. :hmmm: Are you talking about the SE News section?

I'll see if Jesse can make a list for me so I can set a few IDs for the RP section.

The callouts would be helpful too.

yh i meant the se news cuz it much better to have everything dated :wacky:

Pretty much what Stevie just said, as far as the RP section, really. Personally, I'm a fan of having Sign-ups separate from Discussions, because of clutter, but to each their own.

Maybe the news area could use prefixes like [General News], [FF News], [KH News], etc.

not having that isn't a problem because hopefully what type of news it is should be in the title.. but most people including myself add the date prefix before the start for example [03/09] 'New Kingdom Hearts Game Announced' or something like that :)

but like what i said before... having it for the callouts would be helpful just saves a bit on typing cuz all of us are lazy ;)

I don't mind typing the things for the callouts. :hmmm: Though I guess it could be useful for the news section, etc. What if it's a combined news article though? :hmmm:

Dates would be tedious, I think, unless the admins feel like adding every date on the calendar in.

Haha, I know I wouldn't. But hey. :neomon:

what u mean by combined kira :hmmm:

Like two different sorts of news articles in one piece of news? I dunno, I never really read the news. :gasp:

This.

I don't think we need a prefix for dates, but that's just me. =P

loool i just throught that u need to type in 366 of them :P soooo no XD

The news section can stay as it is. There's no point going through the trouble of adding in every date there is for the upcoming year - and then do the same again next year - when half the time there isn't even anything newsworthy to post. People who post news threads already neatly add on the dates to the thread names anyway, so it's already organised enough. :lew:

I don't object to the use of [FF News] or [General News] tags however, but seeing as the thread titles are fairly self-explanatory anyway, I don't think they're that necessary. =/

RP and GFX sections however, it's a good idea. (y)

Exactly. As far as I know Fleur was the first one to put dates before the title and soon we all followed her lead...only a older thread came up recently from 2010..it confused me a bit, but I dont think adding years is necessary either..

There are 2 things I am wondering about though..a semi/sub Title underneath the main title (I kinda miss that feature) and EDITING! Why cant we edit/alter our own thread titles?

You could always put a limit on it...like edit it once and no more to avoid childish abuse/confusion and/or only add this feature at certain sections...

Like Draklor he made a mistake with a thread title in SE news and now he cant fix it...

Pockets then BAN the sucker!!!!!!....well nice solution would be after it has been touched by a magical mod ONLY a magical mod could change it again...?

Something to keep in mind, from what I saw is that "preset" prefixes can not be clicked to direct you to the link. So for example, something with a long prefix such as "[General News]" would fill the entire Recent Posts character limit and leave you nothing to click right there, so one must locate the thread themselves. In a nut shell, you'd have to take away from a current potential feature in order to have the convenience of not typing it yourself. :wacky:

Ohri-Jin While I could be wrong, my guess is to avoid members counter edittitng a title that a staff member fixed. For example if I made a title with just a string of cusswords, and Mits edited it into a more socially acceptable title the OP could come along and change it back. :hmmm:
