Since I'm watching Meet Joe Black as I type this, I was wondering, out of all the tear jerking, lip biting romance films you've seen what are your favorites?

Of course, I love Meet Joe Black. And Also Titanic and City of Angels. Those films are just... so romantic and so heartbreaking. They always make me tear up. :C

Anyone else?

My favorite romance movies...? :hmmm: I have loads! So I will go into detail with just a few of them, since my post would be HUGE. I will list the rest afterword.

It would have to be:

House of the Flying Daggers:

My absolute favorite romance movie ever. If the beautiful romantic story wasn't enough, it also has action and great acting.

Its my favorite :33

The Notebook:

This one made me cry and I still cry each time I see. The romance between the two is just so...aww!

Their journey to their love and then their separation is just so romantic, especially when they finally get together. But the ending...
It makes me cry! So sad and romantic!

A Walk to Remember:

If anyone has ever seen this, then they would understand why I have it on the list. Its one of the best romance stories I have seen. I love how it starts. It seems typical, but its not. What the love interest (Shane West) London does for Jamie (Mandy Moore) is so romantic it makes me feel all happy inside.

And then the sad-romantic ending happens.... >.>

Others:
Tristan & Isolde, Forrest Gump, She's all That, Star Wars and finally Sweet Home Alabama. They are probably more like Howl's Moving Castle and whatnot, but it would literally stretch the page. lol

PHANTOM OF THE OPERA :jess:

I'm really not a huge fan of movies that focus on romance tbh, but this movie was absolutely freaking phenomenal. (The newer version with Gerard Butler, since I think there are more than one :hmmm:) I cry so much at the ending, it's just brilliantly well done and you can really feel for
the Phantom
so much :sad2: Amazing, amazing film.

Ohhh romance movies... how I love them :inlove:

My favorites are:

Gone with the Wind- I loooooooove this movie and this is my favorite. The plot was just as unforgettable as the final line in the movie. Clark Gable was gorgeous and charming and Vivien Leigh was absolutely beautiful. Of course she was a selfish, self-absorbed girl and it took her the whole movie to make sense out of her life...but the movie wouldn't have been as amazing if they had created her as a different character.

Pride and Prejudice- I like the newer version with Keira Knightley. This movie is visually stunning. The costumes were down to a Tee and the actors/actresses were so fitting for their roles. ...and the romance :inlove: Darcy and Lizzie were admittably not my favorite couple. I preferred Mr. Bingley and Jane because I figure myself to be more of the Jane type IRL. The music/piano pieces were the icing on the cake.

Far and Away- Loooooooooved this movie. This was with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman while they were still married. The plot was amazing and the scenery was stunning. I loved Tom and Nicole in this. So many couples do movies together and they end up flopping, but this was such a good movie. This was another one of those Romeo and Juliet type movies where the two people really don't "belong" together but they realize that they do...

Romeo and Juliet- The remake with Leo Dicaprio and Claire Danes. Some people didn't particularly care for this but I loved it. Everything came together so well, and while I don't LOVE Leo he was really nice looking in this movie. Claire was very simple looking yet very pretty in this so it was just fun to watch them in their costumes and etc... The dialogue was very well done too.

The Blue Lagoon- I don't know if I would classify this as strictly romance...but I really did like this movie. The plot was tragic yet heartwarming and it brings you into realizing what the meaning of true love really is. Brooke was beautiful and the scenery was to die for in this. Such a pure romance flick. I really recommend it :monster:

...and I agree with Kate about The Phantom of the Opera. I loved that movie too. I think Emmy even sang for her part and she had an amazing voice. Between the costumes and the singing and dancing you can get lost in the beauty of this movie. The romance was just a bonus.

OMG I watched this for the first time on Sunday!

I was sitting at home with nothing to do and switched over the channel (by that time it was already a quarter of the way through) and I was just glued to the T.V. for the remainder of it!

Vivien Leigh truly is beautiful. <3

Fantastic Romance. <3

I can't even bring myself to watch this anymore because it just makes me cry too much! XD

It is one of my most favourite romantic yet trajic movies I have ever seen.

Every time I watch the end I always think that this time Romeo will see Juliet moving and not take the poison. =(

The Blue Lagoon- I don't know if I would classify this as strictly romance...but I really did like this movie. OMFG I love you! XD

Another person who appreciates this movie as much as I do.

I am so in love with this movie. It is my favourite movie in the world! I have Return to The Blue Lagoon but the realationship between the new couple was not as pure and beautiful as the first movies couple in my opinion. Still a great movie though.

I just think that this is the most pure love story I have ever seen. <3 I always turn it off before the trajic ending though because I cry too much. >.<

A few more favourite romance movies are:

A Walk to Remember
P.S. I Love You
- I could not stop balling my eyes out in that movie.

Aww thanks girl! Yeah the sequel was definitely not my favorite...I did like that Millla was in it...but you know how it is when they try and make a sequel of something that was almost perfect to begin with...its never the same.

...and so glad you watched Gone With the Wind. Really, the first time I watched it was maybe 5 or something years ago...my mom was always the biggest fan of it, yet I always had this mental block to watching it because it was something that one of my parents was always particularly fond of. Such an amazing story of love...Rhett really did love her...but you know how it is. Sometimes people really only think of themselves...and Scarlett was the perfect example of that...and it killed her chance at true love. It was a tragic love...just not overtly so...at least until the end anyways.

So to stay on topic, I'm going to add Dirty Dancing to my list of favorite romance movies.

Patrick Swayze was just so hot in that movie :gasp:...and I can totally relate to Baby. I've always been more of the shy/innocent type and I've always related to her quiet/reserved character. This movie really was fantasy come reality for her. The dancing was AMAZING and unforgettable..and the movie has great replay value. I could watch it over and over again and never get sick of it. Again, the sequel was blah... but the original was ♥

Pride and Prejudice

Definitely my favorite romantic movie. I watched it 11 consecutive times right after I first saw it. I haven't seen versions other than the one by Kiera Knightley which was created in 2005, I think. :hmmm:

Great cinematography, story, musical scores, casting and acting. It all draws you in. It's not too cheesy, no serendipity or 'love conquers all' theme. It's just love.

P.S. I Love you

Gerard Butler is so amazing in this movie, its so sad! I actually became a Hillary Swank fan because of this movie. I love the one scene with the phone message, and how she is unable to get over him, and how he knew that she's be like that and made all those messages for her -- true tragic love at its saddest

(500) days of Summer

I first watched this movie 15 minutes into it; so I missed the intro on it
not being a love story
, I was so hopeful, only to have my dreams and hopes crushed. :wtf:

This is a tragic love story, damn you Summer, damn you! I was in a funk for weeks because of this movie; I was all "How can love exist!??!" all the time, so sad.

In accordance with the weighty dogmatic stipulations of Bro Code, I am allowed one 'chick flick' naturally this is also my favourite romantic film. 10 Things I Hate About you is simply excellent, the story is humourous and believeable, the characters well written and relateable. It focusses on the relationships between Cameron/Bianca and Patrick/Kat, and how they progress.

Though when the Dark Tower Films are made, Roland and Susan's story will definitely be my favourite regardless of how soul destroying its

May sound kinda cliché, but I adore Moulin Rouge.

Though you knew what was gonna happen in the end, you couldn't help but to like this movie's development. It was so cheesy that my brain exploded into confeti. Besides, the songs were to catchy and Kidman's perfomance was priceless... I still can't believe that it's been more than a decade since that wonderful movie. Moulin Rouge had everything: drama, romance, comedy, tragedy, music.
This will remain forever among my favorites.

I couldn't agree with you more. It's tied for first for romantic heartbreaking film for me along with Titanic. :gasp:

Besides those two, I have this love for Coyote Ugly. I like how the love that's shared between the two leads comes from the music as well as a mutual physical attraction that they both can't fight. It's a chick flick that's over ten years old, but it never seems to get too out of date for me. xD
