Sucker Punch

it was incredibly well put together. like all of zack snyder's films it was visually impressive, although i don't think it's his best. none of the actors gave particularly strong performances, but it wasn't the sort of film where they were needed. the story progression really carries the film very well.

and the soundtrack was incredible. as stand alone songs they aren't brilliant, but in their proper context they're excellent.

Most of the reviews for this film are just fucking ridiculous. The IGN video review is especially poor and very unprofessional.

It's a really fun action film with amazing visuals, that's what I paid for and that's what I got. Like Pooley said, great acting performances weren't needed for this sort of film. I really think the critics were expecting something different than what the movie was attempting to offer which is why it got slammed.

I would have changed 2 things though: I kinda wanted a one last fantasy scene where Babydoll distracts the guards. It would have rounded the film off with a bit of a bigger bang. I also would have made a better connection between the 2 dream states. I thought the whole dance thing was a bit weird, not necessarily bad but I think it could have been better.

Anyway, I thought it was great. Go watch it at the cinema with your mates and you'll have a blast. (y)

I thought it was a bit as if Baz Luhrmann and Tim Burton got together and directed a 2 hour long Linkin Park music video. Whether that's a good thing or not is probably up to the individual to decide, but it didn't do an awful lot for me. About half way through I had been bombarded with some much ridiculously over the top CGI that I just wanted the movie to be over already.

I imagine critics would have seen stuff like 300 previously and therefore would know exactly what to expect when seeing this film. It's a Zack Snyder film, I doubt anyone goes in expecting to see something akin to Bergman unless they're very dim!

This movie was absolute CRAP. I only read the first page when people were anticipating it, but jesus christ this movie was an abomination.

The first 15 minutes were cool, with the music and everything.

After that.....shit shit shit!!!!!! Its a rediculas, feministic, CHEESY fantasy that has the lamest action scene's ever!!!

The only thing cool about this movie was the specials effects, and the ending was acceptable.

The acting was shit, the characters were shit, and potrayed every man as a pig while the girls dressed as slutty school girls.

But jesus christ, reviving nazi soldiers and dragons and all of this stuff that makes no sense piled into one long digital show off made me almost fall asleep. I liked the music....and hated the film, I would have rather watched the chick dance......

If they are going to make a movie this bad, they could have at least given us 3D

Maybe I am just old fashioned....and actually like my action sequences to have some sort of relevance to the movie and story, other then making the task of obtaining a knife....stopping a nuclear train from blowing up a city. These action sequences did not make me care what happened.

Honestly...who gives away the fact that there is a twist at the ending...in the flippin title.

The movie itself is based on an actual anime which ive never seen btw I saw the movie when It first came out but i got the dvd when it came out and the anime was on it.... yeah the movies better. But anyway I loved it for its great music, its a confusing story but i could really careless about storylines needing to be super good to get me to like it overall, awsome fight scenes of course. I really like baby doll ^ ^ from beginning to end it was epicness all the way through, I love how they tantilized everybody in the movie with her dancing xD

I actually agree with this.

That is an exact description of what I felt watching it.

It was pretty, but pretty doesn't make me sit through a 2 hour movie and enjoy it. The CGI was over top and completely ruined some moments, and the artsy style of directing wore thing when it wasn't really saying anything. For like the first ten minutes I thought it was going to be incredible, then it just started to bore me.
