The latest issue Game Informer issue features an interview with Tetsuya Nomura on the upcoming North American release of Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. At the end of the interview, the magazine questioned the game director and character designer about his future projects.

In regards to Kingdom Hearts III, Tetsuya Nomura denied ever confirming its existence during an interview with Ultimania. Instead, he said that he used the phrase “two tittles other than III” to steer clear of speculation. Thus, according to him, Kingdom Hearts III still remains an unconfirmed title. One of the two Kingdom Hearts titles mentioned above will be shown in the near future, however. Nomura confirmed to Game Informer that a new game in the series will be announced at E3. Although he didn’t want to give out any details, he did state that the new project was a result of them wanting to “do something for the North American fans.”

On a possibly related note, Phil Synder recently revealed that he is the new voice for Jiminy Cricket in Kingdom Hearts: Recoded, a game which hasn’t been officially announced. However, it sounds like it could be a remake of Kingdom Hearts: Coded, a Japan-only mobile game. So this may be the title Nomura is referring to. As for what platform the two new Kingdom Hearts games will be appearing on, it looks like it won’t be the iPhone, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 as Nomura revealed they have no current plans to bring the series to new systems. However, he also said they “have been discussing opportunities with various parties.” They will think about the next steps for the series once the two current Kingdom Hearts projects are completed.

Finally, Nomura discussed Final Fantasy Versus XIII with Game Informer. He told the magazine that development is going smoothly. Nevertheless, he cautioned that both he and Square Enix as a whole are announcing new titles from E3 through the winter and will “take it one step at a time.” Nomura also added that they still “have plans to showcase the title at a certain point.”

(When is E3) I just hope it's not on G4TV....

Because I don't have that channel. And watching live streams of E3 on the internet takes too long.

(My subscription to Game Informer ended last month :/ )

Anyways, about this news,

It's good to know that FFXIII Versus is going good. And let's hope that SE doesn't DISAPPOINT more than 10 million people with this one.

Kingdom Hearts is done for me. Ever since they started twisting and adding and adding more and more to the currently never ending story of KH, it just made it's way on the "not to play" games list for me.

June 15-17 although you might be better off just waiting for news sites to publish articles since you'd end up sitting there for ages waiting for the bits you want. D:

So... in other worlds Kingdom Hearts turned into series of mediocre spin-offs for all sorts of portable crap... great.

I have been stating to many people that two games other than KHIII had to come before KHIII could be even announced. I am not worried, as KHIII has to come. I can't wait to see what those two games could be ^^

I hope one centers around Riku. Besides Reverse/Rebirth of CoM, I haven't seen him in the spotlight and I would like too :hmmm:

As ever, I have a few things to say about this. Firstly, there's my irritation at SE for not simply just making Kingdom Hearts III but throwing out several spinoffs instead beforehand.

Even though they're bound to be great games, it will not help story-wise. Just more and more things piled onto the story until it becomes messy and probably inconsistent will not be a good idea. I've always been told in writing courses never to add so much into a story as it would drift into the realms of poor writing sooner or later.

As for Versus, I expect to see more from it at E3. And I hope it will be more than CGI flashing around. I actually want to see gameplay screens and/or footage. Although the latter will probably be too much to expect from SE.

I'm looking forward to it, Kingdom Hearts is definitely better than their shitty main IP nowadays, what's it called? Oh yeah, Final Fantasy. :andry:

Ah no Kingdom hearts III yet? :ffs: Anyway I want to see some versus XIII at E3 2010. If its not there then I will get pissed. And these 2 kingdom hearts games dont look interesting >_> FF is not shit Ryan -__-

:lew:

Oh, that's mean on Square Enix. Final Fantasy XIII by all fairness isn't completely atrocious - at least not to the extent that I start to lose all faith in humanity. xD But yeah, Versus will need to pull off an Olympic-opening-ceremony-style kind of impressive show on me to stop considering the FF franchise to be in decline. :wacky:

By the way, I just realised that with my PSP dead (but not buried yet), I can't play Birth by Sleep. D= Ah well, I suppose it's no great loss. The fact that I'm still relatively a newbie to the KH games and am completely baffled by the overcomplicated story so far has made me less enthusiastic of KH than other people here. :andry:

Bull. Shit!

God damn him. I've been waiting ALL this time for KHIII and it hasn't even entered his mind?!! Nomura, in the words of Eric Cartman....Suck my balls.

*cries*
This seriously depressed me for today.

Nomura did also say he wasn't legally allowed to mention any of the Kingdom Hearts games at the moment, and apparently the Kingdom Hearts Osaka are working on something amazing so you never know. :andry:

The only KH game I thought was mediocre story wise was 358/2 Days, but I still enjoyed the gameplay of it. Otherwise, all the games I played were really enjoyable and always manages to maintain my high expectations of the series.

Am I a Nomura fangirl? Hell yeah, so DS, PSP, PS2, regardless, I love 'em all.

If Recoded is the game Coded the West hasn't gotten yet, I'd be interested in it. My only concern is the platform and if the game is too short. I hear "mobile game", I can't imagine a very long game >_<

As for KH3, I dunno why people are expecting it so soon. Yeah we all want it, but I never expected that game to be coming yet. They said they WOULD make other KH game/s before KH3. I mean, c'mon guys, games take time to make xD

Amazing you say? :andry: I hope it is, as it seems Square is angering many people. Knowing them, this may be O.K, as they may just silence us with Versus or one of the KH game, but if not, they may have some enmity on their hands :O

All I know is, Nomura isn't going to be speaking about KHII at E3 and that's what I wanted.

It seems like I'm gonna be 30 before I play KHIII. :mokken:

They may not care...

as long as they continue to make a profit.
They can tell their staffs working on games not to focus on the game's stories and continue to turn out subpar games and be happy with their profits as long as we the players continue to buy those same subpar games.

Nothing will change until/unless they Square suffer a financial loss for producing subpar games .

I smell another gay spin off on a portably platform nobody has. Probably a Japanese only cell phone. And then said cell phone will be included in the game, making it uber awesome. And then people will make that cell phone real and exclusive for KH.

And now cue KH exclusive phone. :mokken:

However at the mention of "bringing something to NA fans" I can't help but think this is gonna be some mediocre remake of something we already had, but they just made better in Japan. I shant expect anything more than KH 2: Final Mix: International: Americanized with all inclusive alternate outfits and a five second cameo of someone who doesn't matter.

Actually, I'm not even gonna lie, if they somehow release FinalMix+ versions of the games for the PS2 (or upscaled Blu-ray for PS3 like they did for God of War :awesome: ), I'll buy it. I'm hoping that means Japanese audio, but they had extra content that we never got a chance to see in anyway. Extra scenes, extra battles, and yeah, there were extra cameos.

C'mon, everyone's important in the game for one reason or another! Dx

But seriously, I dunno why people are so down on KH. It's really good series D=

I thought it was when it was a simpler game. To me, Kingdom Hearts meant the collaboration of Disney charas and FF charas with some original charas. But after KH 2/CoM, we don't know what happened to Riku, he's dropped off the face of the planet. Sora is God knows where, sleeping again maybe. And suddenly every body has a doppelganger, or in Sora's case, five.

It's gotten way over complicated than it should, and the presence of more spin off games, it's only gonna get worse... maybe even worse than the VII Comp. :mokken:

^ Don't know what happened to Riku? He has his own POV in CoM, Reverse/Rebirth, and 358/2 Days does show what Riku has been doing before KH2. When we find out what happens to him, what he was doing during KH2 seems more apparent :hmmm:

Nomura implies that there's a story going on that'll be running for a long time, so I can't really think of the unnumbered KH games as unnecessary since they've been planned from the get go. I think the platforms is what's been the variable more than anything :hmmm:
