i can say for myself that i love a girl who plays games 'cause videogames are one of my big hobbies and that added common interest makes us that much more compatible. it is also uncommon to find an attractive girl who's into gaming, because of social stigma and the media telling women what they can and can't like. not to say girls who play games are unattractive - just that, compared to the masses of women who don't like to game, it's uncommon to find an attractive gamer girl as opposed to an attractive non-gamer.

Depends how much time they spend playing games, am not really a big gamer anymore this question 4/5 years ago would have been easy but now no i think it would be a bit of a turn off, although if depend what games there into

I'm a girl gamer, but I don't play many types of it (only simulation games and RPG). When I talk with boys about games, they usually seems to be neither delighted nor dismayed. They're just being "cool" with it (from their actions), but I don't read minds so who knows whether what they do reflects their thoughts or not.

I suppose it depends on the guy in question...some might prefer to be in a relationship with a girl who plays video games; its something else to enjoy and share with them. Similar interests do help relationships, after all.
On the opposite end of the spectrum are those who don't like girls who play video games, because its a "guy thing" and they're extremely protective of it...video games have started to become more universal since the Wii and DS, but the stereotype that gaming is purely for guys is still very much present. I mean, you don't see people referring to guys who play video games as "guy gamers", do you?

I'm a girl gamer. Granted that I don't get the chance to play certain games, like Halo and Call of Duty, I still play them when I get the chance. (which is why I royally suck at them.) Most of the guys around here are either taken, gay, not interested, or pricks... and then you have your man hoe, but that's a different story.
Maybe I'm just living in the wrong part of the world. Most of the time guys around here just get put off if you don't play sports games. Well... that's about the only type of game that I actually won't play. They're just not that interesting to me to play.
And it sucks to be stereotyped! I have a group of friends that are girls that game and none of them are unattractive or over weight. So it's wrong that a lot of people think that. It's also wrong that a lot of people think that guy gamers are unemployed and lazy. (you would be surprised how many people think that)

I'm a girl gamer (though I'm more a fan of RPGs that anything else), and I was talking to these guys gamers and they found it a lot easier to talk to me about it, so I'd say gamers are likely to like girl gamers too. It's a lot easier to talk to someone when you've something to talk about, and when you know you're both nerdy then it's like, yeah, gold.

For the main question of the OP: Yes. Guys who play games, find more interest in girls that game, then girls that don't game. Though there are stereotypes automatically assumed with some of these fellas.
Honestly online gaming for the female population just bloomed when systems like the original xbox and xbox 360/ps3 came out. I mean of course there were friendly LAN get togethers and a girl would sometimes play mario kart, golden eye, or any other game, but since everything is online now a days.. a different generation as a whole has spun off.
The big thing I'm noticing aside from guys noticing more and more girl gamers, is the respect level between the two. If a game such as Call of Duty4/MW2 or Halo 3 is played, well the girls have little to no respect given to them, unless of course they are hanging around the same group of guys consistently. (From a personal perspective: When I'm playing CoD MW2 I'm not entirely carring who I play with as long as they manage to get at least 1 kill)
Modern Warfare/ Halo 3 is like the football to non athelete guys. Most think that girls shouldn't play the damn sport basically. It's their "bro time". Personally I don't get it, but I have seen ego's ripped to shreds by my xbox friends who are girls.. because these girls are REALLY good, and I don't mind saying better than me in Halo 3. The only thing is when the Shiznit talking starts, its best to either grow a backbone, or evade the fellas who are impersonal and call you out in a sexist way.
Overall though, guys do prefer girl gamers over non gamers.. because guess what? That means instead of the girl complaining about not spending time watching a sappy girl movie, that means your girl will play along side you and pop some heads in Gears of War 2. (referring to my experience).
The only thing guys need to realise is, if there is a girl on xbox, it's not right to send her a friend request right away. If ya'll do by chance end up partying left and right.. well then hey.. go for it.
I'll offer this advice to you ladies out there. Never, unless you TRULY TRULY trust someone, do you give your cell phone numbers out. I trust my group of fellas I hang around, because we party with around 10-20 different girl gamers on a monthly basis. The fellas don't sit there and try to holler at you, they respect you. Now they might get offended if you hand them their ass in halo or call of duty.. but hey.. that's just our egos =).

For the record, I, girl-gamer, do not like sappy girl movies. I like horror movies. 
And sci-fi movies. Romantic movies make me want to eviscerate some small creature.
I think the machoist attitude in our society is still playing a huge problem for girl gamers out there. As many have said, when girls are playing online games such as Halo 3, there is zero respect there. Yet the general consensus is that guys like girl-gamers more than non girl-gamers. I began to think of why possible these same guys that like girl-gamers, rip on them during online play.
I personally have not had this problem because of my crappy dial-up. But the one Halo party I was invited to I (being the only girl) was killed a lot in the game, but I was cursing just as heartily as any guy and I'm deadly with grenades. Everyone knew I was bad at FPS via console, but no one ever ripped on me because of my gender.
I think it's possible that the medium alone is facilitating this anti-girl behavior. Because the girl cannot really talk back or prove to them how good she is (no one can survive a nonstop cluster-fuck, pardon the language) and the guys PURPOSELY don't allow her the chance to do so. The internet, as we all know, allows us to don different personas than our real ones. Online play, specifically Halo 3, allows the overweight kid with glasses and acne to prove to his buddies that he's really a cool, badass kind of guy without ever being proven wrong.
But when a GIRL comes in and starts kicking ass, that status is suddenly threatened -- and this is where the stereotypical masculine standards of our society come into play. If the social outcast is beaten by a girl (who have been always thought of as non-gamers, and therefor inept at them for several years, and this idea has only recently begun to change) then he is, without doubt, a failure -- both in real life and in the assumed virtual life.
Thus a sort of 'fear' has sprung up around girl gamers, and though the reasons may not be clear or the same to those guys who are NOT socially disadvantaged, the fear is contagious and they all run to rip a girl gamer to shreds.
It'd be flattering if it wasn't so annoying.

Gamer is too narrowed down. I like a girl who has similar interests to myself. I don't see what's wrong with women gamers.
Honestly, I just think they don't know how to react. I mean, if you play games, it's probably like 95% guys and 5% girls, maybe even less than that, so when one comes along, they really don't know how to react. You play an online game like Call of Duty, you're almost always going to encounter guys. I think when I was playing it a year ago on PSN, I don't think I ever encountered a girl in all my play hours and 2 prestiges of it. Though PSN players don't use mics as much as 360 players, so who knows really.
I think ego and pride play a large part. Because the gaming world is so full of guys, it becomes more humiliating for a guy to lose to a girl because there aren't nearly as many of them, and guys typically feel that the gaming world is theres because of the raw numbers. It's like if a guy and girl played baseball and the girl out performed the guy, he will be utterly humiliated by other guys, and his pride is hurt. For gamers, this is their baseball (I know it's a horrible metaphor).
Personally, it doesn't affect me to be in the presence of a female gamer. She will be treated the same way the males do from me, no special treatment and no special mission to annihilate her. But I am old enough and mature enough to understand that the gaming world doesn't just consist of guys, whereas a lot of other guys refuse to accept this.
Well, I may or may not have provided an answer to your question in my essay-like response, but I think both are at fault. Well, being of a certain medium isn't a fault, but it does have an effect on the person behind the controller. But on that same token, that person shouldn't take exception to the fact that female gamers exist. As I said in my last post, the younger, immature crowds are the ones who make it hard for female gamers. Older gamers like myself are willing to welcome the female gamers more openly because they are more mature, but also because females in gaming from way back when was damn near non-existent, and we like the change-up very much.
The number of female gamers has increased significantly over the years, and I for one, am very appreciative of that.

It's always a crack up to me when I walk into a game store and the guys are working that day. They never fail to drop their jaws and widen their eyes, so really, even though there are a lot more girl gamers today than there were just 5 or 10 years ago, it is still somewhat uncommon (depending on where you are).

Guys typically don't like makeup, stuffed animals, gushy love movies, etc. When a girl likes games/football/anything somewhat manly, guys flip out. This doesn't apply to everyone, but it's the majority. I like some gushy love movies, and I like a girl to wear makeup. Hate stuffed animals though. When a girl is a gamer, it really just excites me because she'll get it, you know? Most girls don't get it when you talk about playing CoD or God of War or even Final Fantasy. It's refreshing to find someone who knows and understands your hobby. I've tried learning volleyball and getting excited for it for one of my gf's, and that worked out well. It's just about finding a common interest; in this particle instance, that interest is gaming.

I gotta agree that it's more of a shared interest thing. When I was with my last girlfriends any time I mentioned a video game she would start taking the piss. It was fairly harmless I suppose but it kind of got to me a little since it was one of the things that I enjoy doing with my time. But yeah most gamer guys are going to be attracted to gamer girls because they share something in common, plus it's something quite important in alot of guys lives so it's quite a big connection to have.
Having said that I think there are a few guys around that automatically chat to a girl because she like gaming, they could have absolutoly nothing else in common and still he would be interested because she's a gamer. I think that there needs to be more than gaming between two people before they consider a relationship. It's like dating someone who likes the same band as you but everything else is different...just a stupid idea.

Actually, I think Guys do like girl gamers more...then again its whether the guy is interested too or not. I remember at my old school, I formed a better relationship with the 'nerdy guys' than most other girls because I was the only girl gamer they had probably ever met...

To be honest I don't think guys like girls any better if they play video games or not, it doesn't make a person go into a relationship, and it isn't a major factor, it's just a common interest, I don't know why guys get all flustered because girls can play games too.
I personally don't care if a girl plays games or not. I try to look for more things we have in common, like sports, music, etc. If she wants to express that she plays games, then I I will let her.
