FFVII is not good

If someone does not like it, it is there opinion. It must have been something about it that put him off. At first glance, I was not going to even touch it after seeing the graphics. The story was probably over exaggerated to him and after getting it, is was below-par or something. He is entitled to his own opinion.

I think I said this before, but I'll say it again. I find it amazing how FF7 has the ability to suddenly start horrible fights over petty things. Someone didn't like the game, big deal. I bet most of you didn't like FF8, but I don't go crazy every time I see you insult it, which is a lot. People really need to calm down, and remember that everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Of course, this could just be trying to ride on a white horse and save us all.

I say let them have their own thoughts/feelings about it. Even though somebody has a different POV as you doesn't mean you should agure about it back and forth. If the guy in the video doesn't like it, so be it. Not everyone's going to agree with the guy grant but there is those that do. I thought the game was good and I enjoyed playing it but nonetheless, the game is a bit over the top with all the spinoffs added IMO. You shouldn't force someone to like the game etc etc and I don't really care if someone dissagrees with what I said about VII but I'll always respect their opinion. Overall, I liked VII but I feel like VII is overrated and it isnt IMO 'The best FF ever'

What gets me about that video isn't the issues he has with the game, it's the whole "if you actually like the game, it isn't because you have an opinion it is because you are wrong and have been indoctrinated" tone.

But things like that aren't worth bothering with. It's his opinion and though I may disagree with a lot of it, and the whole thing seems very petty, he's going to think that, so that's fair enough. So long as, whoever he is, he doesn't hunt me down and rant like that non-stop and at me for liking the game I'm just going to ignore it.

Equivalent example: Command and Conquer: Tiberium Dawn is certainly not a "good" RTS by today's standards. The acting and cutscenes are incredibly cornball, the GDI has a ridiculously unfair unit advantage over NOD, and whoever was insane enough to program enemy Harvesters to instantly kill most of your attacking army simply by running them over should not be designing video games.

HOWEVER AT THE TIME IT MANAGED TO SELL A CRAPLOAD OF COPIES, so (as with FF7) the least we can do is treat it with an atmosphere of respect.

Couldn't agree more, that is his opinion, and he is entitled to it, everybody is entitled to their own opinions, I just don't think very many people will share his opinion, Final Fantasy VII alone has a huge fanbase, and is just one game in a very popular franchise (though that one game has seen many spinoffs. :gasp:).

Kind of sad though, being bent on that the game must be bad over such petty things, but if he's going to let such trivial things so heavilly impact him on his opinion on that, well, nothing anybody else can do about it, he's just one person that doesn't realize what he is truly missing out on, even if he thinks and says he does. xD

So....

I really don't need to watch the video since I pretty well know what any haters would say already. Allow me to say this:

FF7 haters have that annoying tendency to jump down the throat of any innocent who happens to say, "Oh, FF7. Yeah, I liked that game. It was cool."

I know. I've personally experienced the ensuing act of simple-minded savagery that follows.

I think this is because they must see only those newbies of the game or, indeed, the rabid fans, who scream that the game is nothing short of a religious icon... And I can fully understand why this would annoy haters. It annoys me, and I consider myself a (very passive) fan of the game itself.

That being said, responding to fanaticism with ranting and raging will do nothing. If anything, it will only solidify the fans zealous love. So, if anything, the haters are responding more to the crazy fans than to the actual game.

Now, keep in mind that I considered myself a (passive) fan of the game. But I still recognize the major flaws within it. For example; the stats of the characters -- what do they do? how do they effect your gameplay? Well, it's up to you to guess that. I've never seen any game that tells the player so little about how to use stats to your advantage.

I do not like a majority of the music in FF7. I just don't.

Furthermore, the storytelling bit is quite rough. In my most humble opinion, it should not be necessary to release a guide, well after the game has gone into circulation, that explains all the 'how's' and 'why's' of the game. (I am referring to the Ultimania Guide, of course). That's just bad storytelling. Some scene vital for understanding the world mechanics and history are purely optional, and even then, you have to know where to look for them to see them (such as the flashback in the Shinra Mansion basement, or the tapes at the Snowy Village).

FF7 has, by far, the worst story-informative process I've ever seen. But, despite that, it is still a very engaging game. I know enough of the hows and whys to get along with it, and the quirky characters are constantly amusing. Any critiquer worth their salt will note these problems and comment on them.

The problem with haters is that they tend to focus on the most trivial of reasons to hate on the game. "His hair is dumb." or, "Her boobs are HUGE!!!!" It isn't an actual critique of the game, it's merely fodder to get back at the squeeing fans. It's the RABID FANS they can't stand. So don't take anything the haters say about the game seriously. They only played enough for them to get some bashing-material.

On an off note, I would compare it to what I like to call 'The Twilight Syndrome'. This phenomena consists of fans being so outrageously, ridiculously CRAZED about something, they drive everyone else in the immediate world to utter distraction. I cannot express how much I hate the whole Twilight series, but I've never read a single word of the books. I hate it for one thing, and one thing only. That's right. It's the fans.

They are maddening. The constantly go on and on and on and on and ON, about how 'sexy' and 'screwable' Ed is. (And yes, I call him 'Ed' merely to annoy them. It sounds a lot less romantic that way. ;) ) I'm sick and tired of hearing about vampires that SPARKLE. And they never stop! The fans are always going on about some stupid little detail or another, and I can honestly say that when a group of them get together, they all sound like downright retards. So what do I do? I, in short, flame the flaming fans.

I know it isn't right, but it is so satisfying! So, in retrospect, I can see where these shameless 'haters' come from. I hate something just as much, but it has nothing to do with the actual subject matter.

So, in closing, don't take it personally. It's the crazies that're being attacked, not the game.

Well first of all to be fair, he did name some really good games that he liked.

But......yea he didn't give us any real insight on why he thought FFVII was a bad game. But we need to respect other peoples oppinions even though we don't agree with them.

So....

I really don't need to watch the video since I pretty well know what any haters would say already. Allow me to say this:

FF7 haters have that annoying tendency to jump down the throat of any innocent who happens to say, "Oh, FF7. Yeah, I liked that game. It was cool."

I wouldn't say that we all have that tendency to jump down any innocent fan's throats. My experience with such as that the FF 7 fans start the whole "OH FF 7 is the bomb. It's the greatest game ever." Then they begin to rant about other FF's less well done characters and story lines. "Oh Rinoa was such a weak main character and she was too whiny" and then I respond with "Oh yeah, well Tifa's boobs are too big and she's too loud". Is it immature? Yeah, but you fight fire with fire when you're angry.

So in short, you are whole and utterly correct. I wouldn't hate FF 7 nearly as much, and be nearly as critical about it if the Fans weren't as luvy duvy about it. So it's safe to say that the rest of us anti-fans are only so pushy because we faced the over the top "FF 7 is God" Fan. I've personally be a victim of such a fan at school.

Twilight is a good example of this phenomenon, but I think that FF 7 is certainly better than it.:)

I don't understand why you haters think it's okay to whine and complain just because you ran into some fans who liked the game. I mean, really, who pissed your cereal? Accept that they like the game and move on. Once you're able to do that, I'll accept that you don't like the game. It just doesn't make any sense to whine. And I don't see any rabid fans in this topic, yet it's starting to brim with haters. Just shut up, please. It's getting so annoying.

Dude, calm down. You've got no right to jump down his throat like that and tell him to shut up. He wasn't very critical at all. Just because you're a fan of the game and haven't had a run in with a rabid fanboy (which you are proving yourself to be) doesn't mean that they don't exist.

Personally, I'm tired of hearing that FFVII is the best game ever, then having my opinion and my favorite game bashed when I tell them I disagree.

However, if you're not goign to reply with anything good to say, don't reply at all. In that one post you've done more whining than anyone in this thread. Both sides need to put up and shut up in my honest opinion. Yet any time some "I hate/like FFVII' or "FFVII remake" thread pops up, people storm in that thread like the Americans on D-day and it turns into a giant flame war. :ffs:

I wasn't speaking to him. I was speaking to everyone who jumps down anyone's throat when they say anything even remotely good about VII. WHO Tsukianei? Point him out. In this thread right here, point out the person who claimed it's the best game ever and bashed your favorite game and opinion. I don't see him. And yet you still moan and complain. In every single thread about VII. Every one. I'll stop complaining the day you stop complaining. Because, you and a few others are the sole reason I'm complaining.

I don't need to. You, as well as a few others here probably think it. Why limit it to this thread alone anyway? I'm pretty sure it's been said on this forum plenty of times in the past.

How about you quit being a pretentious know-it-all and just acknowledge the fact that you're coming off as an extreme rabid fanboy?

EDIT: Also, I never stated that someone in this thread said it anyway. There are other places to argue besides here. Seriously, lighten up.

EDIT: Also keep in mind that I haven't bashed the game in this thread either. In fact, I don't think anyone here really has. Just sayin'.

Okay, that's enough out of both of you. Either comment on the video or move along. There really is no need for this back and forth arguing.

Don't act like you're the victim. I've seen you attack someone for saying VII was good. We've resorted to name calling? Wow, low blow. All I ask is you refrain from complaining about VII. Is it really that hard? Then we wouldn't have anything to argue about.

EDIT: Sorry, posted this after your post.

Chill.

At the end of the day, it works both ways. People will be annoyed about how much fanboys hype the game up to what they think is overrated and on the opposite side some people feel the game is bashed and underrated by too many people. Either way, everyone has their own opinion naturally, but complaining about people complaining doesn't help the situation, it only escalates it into something it's not - a hate thread.

I like the fact the guy used a Disturbed song XD

Anyway, people are allowed their opinions. Everyone is not going to agree, you will get people with different opinions and thoughts on something you love or hate. I actaully do agree with the guy about how its not the best PS1 game and its not the best game ever. But hell, I respect people opinions and they can like it however. Im not keen on people slamming me cause I dont like it. Ive had abuse before from people online, somehow people dont confront you to your face lol, and slated me, blah, blah, blah.

The guy is a bit of a jerk Ill admit, but its on his head for making the video in the first place. He could have been more subtle about it, but meh. And I wish he'd stop swearing.

Its a guys video on his opinion ... Get over it.

I love FFVII, its one of those games for me that I finish it and restart it immediately after finishing. It's my favorite of any of them that I have played, but I dont drool all over it and fantasize like alot of fans of this game do.

wow I can't believe how much arguing this guy (maker of the video) has caused on the forum from a video.

Your always gonna get people who don't like stuff for no 'good' reason to be honest I found the video a little offensive; in particular the last image and the comment of "would I like tea with my rape". The video is very in your face and probably designed to get peoples backs up.

My question is why bring that hate onto the forums?

Direct it in a civilised manner to him would be my response.

As for his points made there were some I agreed with I do believe that FFVII is very over rated for what it is. I didn't enjoy the story to the point I wanted to play it again. However I enjoyed it for what it was and moved on.

But, but, but... FFVII is the GREATEST GAME EVAR!!! Or something close to it.

I couldn't watch the video because I started laughing my ass off at one of the first pictures.

Does he realize he's used an Aeris futanari picture...? Please tell me I'm not the only person to see it...
