Ol’ Tetsuya’s doing what he does best again: stirring things up with foreshadowed announcements of announcements. In the most recent Gamega magazine, amid speakings of his other projects, he’s asked what he’s most looking forward to in 2010. Nomura declines to answer directly, saying that he can’t yet say the name, but it’s a yet-unannounced game that many people are currently anticipating and that he’s received personal requests about. He foresees a huge reaction to its revelation. What his team is up to is anyone’s guess, and guessing is probably just what he intended with that hint drop. Well 2010 is practically here, so let the guessing begin. Again.

Yes, maybe it's the the gift of Square Enix and the major Character Designer of Final Fantasy Series (VII - Compilation Of FF VII, VIII, X and XIII's), Tetsuya Nomura.

In a interview printed yesterday in the japanese Magazine Gamega, he respond to the journalist "If 2010, will the year for the announcement of the game of his dream?"

"I can just say, that indeed, whereas I'm still working on Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Agito XIII and a little later on The 3rd Birthday (this year), we will announce other games this year and which one is terribly waited from everyone and often "REQUESTED" by fans and even of the press crew that I meet All over the World."

KH III, no sure, A game Very waited by fans could be a Kingdom Hearts game, but by the press, it's just NO.

The only possibility is a FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE, so Kawazu (Crystal Chronicles/ Ivalice Alliance / SaGa) wasn't kidding us. A FFVII Remake Announcement. Is it in preparation for NEXT E3 or TGS 2010?

I kind of have a mixed reaction to this. On one hand, I'd be excited if it were a FFVII remake, but on the other, I'd be irritated if the game got remade without full supervision of the original team...I can see Nomura messing with the game far too much.

If it isn't an FFVII remake, then I'm really curious...although I can see him just being dramatic for the sake of it and it not being anything totally special.

If KHIII is ruled out, it has to be a Final Fantasy VII remake. That's the only thing it could be. What other game other than a PS3 Kingdom Hearts game could the fans possibly want?

Well, this "fan" wants a FFVI remake first. Cloud and his gang can wait- the Compilation of FFVII and everything about it has been utterly overdone and stale now. I would so prefer seeing Terra's story being re-told in 3D with new voiceovers.

How can you work on so much stuff, Tetsuya Nomura? I don't doubt the man's abilities, but his schedule must be impossible.

Was it Kawazu who said someone is bound to do the remake?

SE can just announce it at E3 with only the tech trailer they made ages ago if they want, knowing them.

Although I'm not very enthusiastic about it though- I still hope it isn't despite how likely it seems. More new stuff please, SE- unless of course it's the awesome FFVI.

If however- this is just Nomura giving us a red herring, I'll just laugh.

NO! No FFVII remake. It's not needed and would change too much. Besides I doubt that a remake would be his dream project.

I suppose all signs point to an FFVII remake, but I'm not particularly happy about it. They really should re-make V and VI first...although it could possibly be a Legend of Dragoon remake. That'd be interesting, since I never got to play it the first time around.

If it is an FFVII remake, I'm not particularly excited about it. I'm getting a little sick of remakes of old games, to be honest. The time would be better spent on new games.

It sooooo sounds like there's going to be a FFVII remake!!! Woo I really hope that's what it is, it HAS to be. It's been something I've been hoping for a while now. x3

It really DOES need to be remade, but as close to the original as possible!! Just with better graphics and voice overs, etc. Improve on the negatives only. It's considered one of the greatest games of all time, even now and just look at the graphics! It'll be the ultimate game if it was remade for the PS3, it'll look so much better. Also I think he mentioned before wanting to do it. Most of the staff and fans have talked about it and wanted it to be done. They'd be fools not to do it, everyone wants it and they'll get a huge fortune from it too. :D

Disagree completely. They're making so many new games it's about time they did something like this for a change. Then they can remake the other FF's like VIII. :D

All you doubters can suck it. This is the remake we have been waiting for. Now whether it will be good and loyal to its original source is another matter entirely, but I'm excited for the game regardless. I wonder how they will do the battle system? And Barrett's %$#% speech. This is so awesome!

Well, Square is known for doing just about anything to get a few extra bucks out of FFVII fans. I'm not the least bit surprised that they would give one of the most overrated games ever a remake.

FFVII is a good game and all, but a remake of it would only prove how overrated it really is.

I'm more interested in something other than a FFVII remake. I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't look into it, but I'm not ready for a FFVII remake just yet.

Therefore, I'm actually hoping it will be a Nomura designed FFV and FFVI remake coming packaged together for the PSP.

Shut up, I can hope >.<

Honestly, I don't know what to expect. FFVII remake seems likely, but I just don't see them working on that.

I'm just gonna passively wait and see *crosses arms*

Maybe it's Dissidia 2: The Quest for More Money

Your post... I love it. Mel Brooks FTW!

Also, I just thought of something. I would like to see a remake of FFVI - FFIX to see how they handle to overworld system. I'm curious to see what they would do with it.

To be honest I think they jumped to this conclusion too early.

I think I've said before that it's not a matter of if they do a remake but rather when they do a remake. The fact of the matter is that SE would be idiots not to remake it. Merely the hype around the game would be enough to drive it to success. Furthermore, FFVII has become the flagship title of the series, so a remake could possible even attract new fans to the series who are curious to see what the fuss is all about.

Anyway, as for Nomura's announcement. I'm not going to assume anything at this stage. Even though I think a FFVII remake is likely in the near future, I'm not exactly sure whether it will be Nomura's announcement or not.

I don't like to make assumptions right of the bat, but if it really is a FFVII remake i would definitely look into it...although it might make the game lose a bit of "feel", idk.

Remake or not, let's hope for something good. :ryan:

Well... I have heard about a potential massive all games remake starting with FF and going up to FFIX since PS3 first was released. I would think that would cover almost all Square-enix fans, be a real dream project, and excite the media as well. Maybe? With PSP releases that can be used with the PS3 to get bonus content, like the original games? Yeah, that would be my ideal.

If it's a FFVII remake I'll slam my head against a brick wall. I thoroughly enjoyed the original game while playing through it just a few months ago, why is it necessary to remake it?

Oh wait, money. By the truck-load.

Sure it's mostly about money, as said in previous posts the game is considered to be quite overrated. I like the game a whole lot as it is, but a remake won't necessarely mean it will become worse.
I'm a bit curious to see the game in new-tech HD style, although the good'ol 3D with static scenarios made the difference back then...And still does.

My point is, even if a remake is made that won't change your opinion about the game, since you played the original. Don't get so worked up over it :busta:

Lets not jump to conclusions. It could be the FFVII Remake, but arent there any other possibilities? I mean a remake would be epic on high, but I am not too sure I want one yet :hmmm:

Exactly, it really annoys me when people moan that it will ruin the original. It won't do anything to the original, you can choose NOT to buy/pay attention to it you know! Why be so against it if you love the game anyway? Why wouldn't you want to see it improved? I think it's great that it would also bring in a lot of new fans too.

No game, not FFVII or any other FF installment, needs a remake. If a remake is not done, the original game will still be deemed as a great one (if not otherwise tainted by compilations). There's no actual need for anything to be done.

I'm kind of with the poster (Lymle) who said screw remakes as a whole in favor for new installments. I'd much rather new games to add to the list of great FFs rather than redone classics (and not so classics). The intitial FFVII was and is a brilliant game.
