I used to like their songs, video clips and everything but lately, I just wanna throw up when I look at this group.

The other day I was walking down town with my mum when I saw this poster next to a CD shop...

Maybe it's not that bad but they forgot about children. To me it seems rediculous to let such a band perform in public. They should go to stripping clubs. Don't get me wrong, their bodies are beautiful but 6-year-olds may think this is okay, which is not. Such posters shouldn't be open to public.
Most of the new popstars are 'naughty' nowadays...

Even Rihanna....

What is with wrong with today's women/men?

Quite simply, sex appeal sells. If they were dressed up in parka jackets and kossack hats, they wouldn't be anywhere near as rich as they are now.
And for anyone who might be getting slightly turned on; the red head used to be a man.

Sex sells unfortunately, Im pretty sure they have always been like that, and it's always knocked me sick. I can't be doing with them, but other people either find it hot, or want to be them...you only need to see the states that flood the dance floor when one of their songs comes on....

And for anyone who might be getting slightly turned on; the red hear used to be a man.

Huh?

The redhead was the one I thought was okay looking D:
Interesting use of the word band though. Only one of them sings, the rest are just dancers. To me they aren't much worse than any other talentless pop crap, they just had smart managers who told them to dress whorishly.
Like eveyone has said, sex sells, who do you think all lingere models are gorgeous?

Hate to repeat what everyone else has said, but yeah sex sells. That's really how the pop music industry works, they just get an attractive woman, slut her up and come up with a song which easily gets stuck in someones head which makes them think they actually like it.

This doesn't surprise me actually. As everyone said, sex sells. It's been this way for years now. I actually kinda liked their one song, "Loosen Up My Buttons" but that was last year. That's how I found out about them actually, and that was through music. It's not like I keep tabs on them in the magazines or music videos. But again, not surprising that they dress up like that. It's actually expected nowadays.

What were they thinking? They were thinking of making money.

To be honest, I think I'm going to be the voice of dissension here. What's so terrible about sexuality? What is so dangerous about it? I don't understand why people make such a huge deal about it. America is actually REALLY uptight compared to a large fraction of the rest of the world. I personally find nothing wrong with either of the pictures posted. Maybe I'm taking it a little too far, but I feel like the idea of a man in touch with his sexuality is perfectly socially acceptable, but a woman who is in touch with her sexuality is a deviant, 'naughty', or a slut. Oh my god! Rihanna is showing some leg! The Pussycat Dolls are wearing revealing outfits! Good for them that they can pull it off.

I also think people like to idealize children. They aren't as innocent as we'd all like to believe. And what exactly are we afraid that children will do when they see such a poster? Immediately throw their clothes off? Stick their fingers down their throat and sign up for boob jobs? It's parents' job to instill morals into their children, not the media's. And sexuality isn't some dangerous, horrible thing. It's completely natural. I'd be much more offended by a violent poster.

Honestly, those posters are tame. Children are subjected to worse things on an almost daily basis - page three for example.

I'm going to agree with everyone else. Sex sells. They're expected to show a little flesh, it makes them more appealing to a mass audience. If they covered up and didn't show anything, they'd be considered out of touch and prudish. They're simply doing what will earn them the most money.

Wait... Didn't PCD start off as strippers in the first place? As for Rhianna, Yeah, she was thinking about the kids. With today's media, kids know the ins and outs of sex by age 7, which explains how they're pregnant by age 13.

Nobody seems to give a crap for decency, which is something I miss.

I'm not a fan of the group, but I really don't understand this. The group was created from what was pretty much a strip act in Vegas.
That has been their target audience all along, coincidentally and unfortunately they got a lot of little kids liking their music. But fact is, they are all adult entertainers. That picture is very tame considering.

it has to be one of the trashest CD albums Ive seen and had the joyful pleasure of listening to (major sarcasm) ... and as its been pointed out, sex does sell. Men and teenage males will buy this as the girls are in next to nothing and just sexing up the camera.

Its sad that this is the technique used to sell, but its been going on for years. But yeah they were Las Vegas strippers.

I really think that these pictures should be hidden away from the children. It is not right. If sex sells so much why won't they sell their CD's in a sex shop?
I do wish to think that children are as innocent as they used to be. Since the economy has gotten better most of us can buy what we wish. Today's parents aren't as strict and buy the children as many toys as they want.
Anyway it's just wrong. I don't mind if these CD's are at a CD store but I do hate those giant posters with strippers displayed for everyone to see.

Yeah. I was far more disturbed by the kids I watched over the summer wearing shirts over their heads and claiming to kill Iraqis than I was them talking about how the word dirty can mean more than one thing. In any case, I don't think all children would see that clothing as Sexy. they are more dressed than people on a beach. Sex is what you are taught it is, to an extent. Until you reach puberty, I don't think sexy is really what you feel when you see a corset.

well now-a-days sex is becoming a bigger part of day to day life. Also there is the fact that hot chicks help sell stuff, thats why the shampoo ads always have women in the shower instead of men. then again sex apeal helps sell stuff so it's not surprising that CD are all gorjus sex symbols

I really think that these pictures should be hidden away from the children. It is not right.
I have to contest that. Hiding them away from children would involve banning their existence entirely - given that music channels and the internet make almost any form of music available to everyone, there's not much you can do. Besides, a child of the age at which you'd deem visual contact unacceptable would not, under normal circumstances, be able to comprehend the controvery caused by such an advertisement. When maturity kicks in and they can grasp the meaning of what's being portrayed, they're already at an age where it becomes increasingly impossible to control the flow of information to children.

Essentially, you can't wrap children up in cotton wool forever.

If sex sells so much why won't they sell their CD's in a sex shop?
Most likely due to the fact that the term "sex sells" tends to used in reference to the flaunting of one's gender in order to aid the sell of a particular product or service - it does not suggest that the concept of having sex is profitable (which is an entirely different matter ;D).

Since the economy has gotten better most of us can buy what we wish.
The term 'credit crunch' must not strike you as particularly infringing. :wacky:

I don't mind if these CD's are at a CD store but I do hate those giant posters with strippers displayed for everyone to see.
I think this statement is somewhat unfair; since they're not actually stripping, it's like suggesting that any beer advert advocates alcoholism. They're just selling their product/service and, since no one is being hurt in the process, all you can really do is admire their success.

But by admiring their success aren't we valuing sex above talent? Whilst I have nothing against them flaunting themselves, and the idea of putting their CDs in a sex shop is a little ludicrous, they are enforcing an idea that they can get what they want from being attractive. Whilst that is to a certain extent true, it is not a positive idea to reinforce. Surely we should be focusing on talented people rather than attractive ones. Talent may, to a certain extent be subjective, it's clear that the Pussy Cat Dolls aren't talented.
But I suppose that is up to a child's parents. I just don't think that we should encourage people to like bands ( I use the term quite wrongly) like PCD.

I think now a days people think thats the way to earn money i see the exact same thing when i go to Las Vegas there was an old pirate show at Treasuer island about pirates and Brits and now they have strippers performingin front of kids i mean honestly that is just wrong i liked the old show there so much better.
