After playing through this game three times I think now, I just realized that Julia-the singer from the Deling city nightclub who fell in love with Laguna but married General Caraway-was Rinoa's mother.

I mean, did everyone pick up on that pretty simply? (You find out in that conversation between Kiros and Laguna at the beginning of the second disc)
 
Nope, you aren't stupid. To me anyway, as I never knew that.

I never finished though.

It is incredibly obvious that Rinoa's mother, Julia was in love with Laguna, and he with her.

It's not that obvious unless you go over documented shit in the synopsis area of the game, really. I never knew until my second playthrough.

But then again, I really play for the game. I hardly care about the characters most of the time as long as they look y'know... Not freaky. like Quina.:neomon:
 
Ah guys, even I worked this one out, and I'm hardly the sharpest tool in the shed -_-

The whole convo in Winhil gives it away when Kiros is waffling about Julia marrying that general dude
 
Only at the beginning of Disc 2 did I finally get it, and that just gave it away anyways.

In my first play through, since I just went through the main story, I didn't know that Laguna and Raine got together until the ending CGI, and only my second play through did I realize that
Squall was the child of Raine and Laguna

Of course, I made the effort to talk to the characters in my second and following play throughs, and who'd a think you'd get a bunch of info when talking to Laguna and co on the Ragnarok in that small window of time?
 
I got it on the first time through, even though I despide FFVIII. I thought it was obvious really xD
 
I got it the first play through as well. There were hints here and there, but I believe I found it official during Disc 3 or 4 when I checked on Balamb Garden's study panel and read through all the documents there. It talked about Rinoa's mother dying at a car accident when Rinoa was only five years old. Of course, it didn't actually mention the name "Rinoa" as she was referred to as a "little girl". But from there it's really pretty obvious if you put things together.
 
Yeah it was kind of obvious, but you shouldn't blame yourself that was probably one of the most boring parts in the game, so it's only natural that you skip the dialogue in a hurry.
 
I realized it, even if I barely recall most of the game's plot due to how mindbogglingly boring both it and the characters are.
 
Well if you pay a lot of attention to every single hint the game provides, you can figure out that Juliua and Caraway are Rinoa's parents, and Squall is the son of Laguna and Raine. Of course, sometimes we don't pay attention to insignificant details that could lead us to these revelations.
 
I got it my first play through, but don't feel bad.

I know people who played through all of FFIX and didn't know that Kuja was a guy. =/
 
i didn't pick it up my first two runs... I was like 12-13 around that time so i can be excused. I did get it my last run though so you aren't in any way stupid
 
I feel slightly better now I think. :) Winhill was always something I really just ran through I guess. I just love running around the boring prison.

A-DuuuuUuuUuUuUHhhhhh.

Okay, maybe it took me until my second playthrough to realize this, but that's because I was like 10 years old when I first played it. I was in the 6th grade, so...yeah I was 10. I wasn't one of those fast-learner, smart mouth, sarcastic genius kids like you see in the movies, believe it or not.

Julia being Laguna's first crush, and Rinoa's mother. And Laguna being Squall's father
...Squall and Rinoa are just meant to be I guess. ^.^
 
I got it the first time but I will say that it is something that you skip over if you miss the few lines that tell it. My friend, whom I'm introducing to FF, said that Julia reminded her of Rinoa, in how she acted and looked, but any resemblence is hardly proof because the little pixelated faces can be hard to distinguish anyway.
