Hi there everyone. Since the technical difficulties we've recently experienced with the site, we've had some issues with the name changing. Not exactly changing your name, but something else. I've received a lot of complaints that people aren't sure who the people are that have received recent name changes, etc...

Since your previous usernames are no longer seen in your profiles, I feel we do need to do something about this problem. I've given this a lot of thought, and I feel it is best if all of you that have recently had name changes within the last month, please put your previous or most well-known username in your signature so as not to confuse people. I've done the same with mine, and I would also advise any moderators who have also had recent name changes to please do the same. I think it would make things easier for all of us until we can get said feature back. Thank you very much for understanding until we get these situations fixed and solved.

I would really appreciate it. Since I am an old fart and cannot deal with too much confusion. Thank you all in advance for doing the above. I will give you a cookie. :cookie2:

They could always put it in their usertitle instead if they don't want to use up sig space :wacky:

I've already got confused thought SB (whatever his name is now) was Julius (whatever his name is now too :P) so that would be a big help .

:wacky: I looked at someones profile & I was like nuuu who is this?!

Then I came to the conclusion it was Saix xD Good job there are only 2 admins really.....:wacky:

Seems like a good idea, name changing can be confusing though I must admit sometimes thats part of the fun.
Perhaps this is only absolutely necessary for the staff? Well either way I am in no position to need to do it.

It would also help if admins did something like this in the Username Change Thread...

Old Name: <Blah blah blah>
New Name: <Blah blah blah>

After they change it so we can just go to the thread to see the most recent changes. I remember that LA did that a while back and it helped me. ^_^

Yes, but with how many name change requests we get a week, those pages start filling up and people aren't going to want to go through a bunch of pages just to find a name. I'd just prefer it if people put their old or most well-known username in their sigs or if they don't want to use up sig space then make it their usertitle.

What exactly is going on behind the scenes and why does it actually affect such functions?

I realise that I've asked this before but I'm hoping it might be answered in this thread. :wacky:

I suppose that another temporary option would be to lock the username change thread until such a time comes when the previous username system returns.

Why lock it when you can just look in there sigs? Some people like changing thier names because they may have a new favourite character and have it as your username. I think its just as easy to find someones name in thier sig as it is to find it in there profile. Or just asking them.

Meh, I don't see the problem with looking at someone's sig if people are going to get *that* confused. Seems a good enough idea to me, a lot simpler than stopping name changes altogether for now...

We really don't want to lock username changes until that option is back. All I'm asking is people who have had name changes in the last month and ,continue to have name changes until we get said feature back, is please put their most well-known or previous username in their signatures OR if they don't want to use up sig space then put it in their usertitle. I honestly do not feel that's too much to ask.

Locking username changes would be rather pointless too, and it would annoy people if something that simple was taken away because it's easier for others to remember another name.

Like LA said, it's not difficult to put a previous username in your signature or wherever for awhile...

I think members should expect the implementation of an AKA field as opposed to the not-so well-thought-out feature we previously utilized. Mine in particular was becoming quite the clutter. ;p

Obviously it's not imperative that members update said field, but it would be useful; as with this current situation.

I recognized your username before when you come back, but now for the life of me I have no clue who you are. Not only will this be useful for me, but it'll be useful for the people who have no idea who the other one is. I really would like this implemented regardless, Kuja until we can get something back so we can see who people are that have had name changes.

I've received a lot of complaints, and I also can't remember who everyone is that have had name changes. It's rather irritating and quite confusing as well when I'm talking to a member and I should know who they are but have no idea because I can't check their profile to see their previous username.

To be quite honest, I don't think people should be allowed to keep on changing their username. It's way too confusing for my liking.

On another forum I'm on, you get to be premium member status at 1000 posts and get the one chance to change your username. After that, you have to be stuck with what you're got.

That's how I see it. Allowing everyone to have so many usernames at such short times isn't really good, but that's just my opinion on the whole matter.
