So why he is so stupid. Well he is soldier but look at his armor. There is good space in his chest not covered so it would be very easy to kill him. He sure is there with death wish.

I always thougth people in FFX dress awfully (and they do) but after watching some images they at least had some chest plate.

I think Square should think more sensible outfits than rather try to make "cool" looking.
 
I personally like the outfits of X ... And thought fighting in a skirt or dress was more restricting then a pair of pants, eg Tifa, Ashe, Aeris, etc. But Square I guess want the outfits to look more cool then how the character can perfrom in battle in their outfit.

Ok, the lower half of his chest is clearly visable. But his training would have maybe shown how to protect his body and thus being able to block any attacks made to his chest. And as has been mentioned, the armour would have perhaps weighted him down more and made it more difficult to move.

Plus its a fantasy game, not meant to be realstic.

Who knows.

I agree with what SapphireStar said about him having training. If they wore more armour then they wouldnt be able to attack as quickly. The more armour you are wearing the slower your going to be and whats the use of more armour if your really slow? With the FFX armour, it wouldnt really matter I suppose cause its really only a game and you never know then could have some special clothing that blocks attacks.
You never know.
 
Well his build didn't really look able to handle heavy armour or full body armour. I think it was there more for manouverability purposes while offering some protection.

With Reks, if he has less armour that may be due to him having better skills with a sword. With better ability with a sword he would need less armour as he could use his sword and shield to block attacks. So really less armour is an improvement as he has skill with a blade and more opportunity to use it. I mean, he managed to take out 2/3 Archadian soldiers single handedly.
 
Well that training thing and manouverability thing makes sense. And Moonchild I was talking about FFX, Crusaders like Luzzu and Gatta have better proctetion on them.
 
As Saphire said, it's a game, and it's the Dalmascan armour, not the 'personally chosen by Reks' armour, so technically, he ain't the dumb one
 
How do you know he didnt choose his armour? maybe they had a choice between heavy armour and light armour or whatever. The thing is you dont know. Maybe him choosing the heavy armour could have saved his life.
Or perhaps Bashce could have hit him somewhere else.

I doubt the weight of the armour would change much, Basch's strength highly excelled everyone else in his unit,
Reks would have died either way most likely

Ya i know cause Basche is way to quick too... It would be funny if basche was to hit his armour instead.. he woulda been like "Sheet!" and reks turns around and owns him
 
Basch would probably just lop his head off. If, somehow, the armour is too strong for him to pierce. If you look at the rest of the Dalmascan soldiers though they have more armour such as helmets and I think more torso and leg armour.
 
Eh, this is not about Reks being stupid due to his choice of clothing. Blame the designers - they dressed him up. =) Reks is definitely not the stupid one here.
 
Has anyone actually played this game? Basch didn't kill him, it was his brother

and yes, final fantasy armour is usually stupid
 
Basch didn't killed Reks Basch was dragged away and his twin brother Gabranth killed Reks it just had to look that Basch was a traitor...

The fact is though, Dalmascan Soldiers were shown as more speed freaks than Tanks so light armour, as shown, was the armour of choice. The Archadians were stronger but slower, hence the heavier armour.
 
i dont think the armour thing is supposed to be taken this seriously.
the only time it matters is against vinuskar
